BIONIC WOMAN Recap: Sisterhood
October 11, 2007 by Kath Skerry

Title:”Sisterhood”
Original Airdate: 10/9/07
GMMR Recapper: Jo
This episode is the tale of two shows. One is called bad dialogue parrot plot. One is called The Greatness of Katee Sackhoff.
The sisters are at lunch. The younger one is unnaturally whiny. Jonas calls Jamie and good gravy, it’s a good thing she doesn’t work for Sydney Bristow because she can’t keep her cover too well. Good thing also her sister is selfishly absorbed and dim. Jonas brings up there *is* a lo jack, but the the way it came out of his mouth, clearly someone’s reading my recaps…I also noticed a general improvement in music…we’ve gone from unadulterated loathing to acceptable.
Jamie gets babysitter duty and no one cares. Jamie gets more training and still no one cares. Sarah Corvus and Dead Will’s dad are hatching a plan to get some firmware upgrades straight from Jamie. Sarah’s having some up and down problems, like she’s bionically bipolar or addicted to drugs and according to her, dying. Um, if Katee Sackhoff doesn’t get an Emmy nod from this role, we should plan the revolt now.

PUSHING DAISIES Sneak Peek
October 10, 2007 by Kath Skerry
For the creators of the new hit show PUSHING DAISIES it seems that the reception of tonight’s second episode might be as important as the viewer’s take on the premiere. There was so much advanced hype and early critical acclaim that hardly a review was written where Pushing Daisies’ ability to maintain the show’s magic wasn’t called into question.
So I guess tonight is the big test. Last week 13M people watched the premiere episode and the reception from new fans have been incredible. Can tonight’s episode titled “Dummy” maintain the brilliance of the first episode? YES!! I was lucky enough to catch an early look at this episode two week’s ago while I was on set and let me be the first to tell you it’s fantastic! The visuals, the perfect dialogue, the budding romance between the Ned the pie maker and his childhood sweetheart Chuck – all present and accounted for.
Check out a scene from tonight’s episode.
- We’ll see how Ned & Chuck navigate living together under the constant worry of touching
- Tonight’s episode is jam packed once again with amazing dialouge, so last week’s “Rules for Watching Pushing Daisies” are still in effect (turn off the phone, put the laptop down, put the kids to bed, etc)
- Fans of Kristin Chenoweth are in for quite a treat tonight. The actress, who had a small but important part in last week’s premiere episode, has a little more to do tonight. Fans of hers will be excited!!
- Ned and Chuck take their relationship to the next level – what that means for two people that can’t touch…well just wait and see
Tune in tonight at 8/7c on ABC and watch PUSHING DAISIES. Then after the show, join me and other fans in discussing the episode over at ThePieMaker.com.
And a special thank you for those GMMR readers who came by ThePieMaker.com last Wednesday to support my new pet project. Dan and I really appreciated it and we hope you come by and hang with us tonight.

First Look: James Van Der Beek on UGLY BETTY

Filed under TV News, Ugly Betty
The other day I told you about some of this season’s fabulous UGLY BETTY guest stars, but I purposefully left the best for last. Although it was announced some time ago, we finally have our first look at James Van Der Beek on UGLY BETTY. Yes, the Beek is back!! James will be playing a character named Luke, who (without giving too much away) causes some issues for Daniel Meade both in and out of Mode.
Dawson has never looked better, and I can’t wait for this episode to air on October 18th @ 8/7c on ABC.
Seth Meyers Talks Saturday Night Live

Each week I listen to The BS Report, the podcast by ESPN writer Bill Simmons (whom I adore). This week Bill has a lengthy conversation with SNL’s Seth Meyers, a New England native who happens to be a big Sox fan. After some obligatory Sox talk, Simmons and Meyers have a really interesting discussion about SNL – how it works, what goes on behind the scenes, some of the best hosts, etc. Although I’ve been hating on it lately, I found it a really unique look at SNL from the insider’s point of view.
Take a listen. (once over there it’s on the right side of the page, just hit play)
So Say We All: YOUR Take on Tuesday Night TV
October 10, 2007 by Kath Skerry
Let’s talk a little Tuesday night TV, shall we? I only watched two shows so I don’t have much to contribute so hopefully you can bring a little to the table today and help me out.
Reaper
I wasn’t fully committed to REAPER last night. I kind of half-assed watched it. Why? Well I have a an irrational fear of bugs. I skeeve bugs. Now I know most people do but I’m not sure they fear them like I do. I see bugs on TV and I immediately feel like they are somehow in the room and crawling all over the place. So since last night’s episode of Reaper was ALL about bugs, I could only watch with my hands over my eyes. I mean, that opening scene with the roaches on the toothbrush. Ew! Was that necessary? I almost gagged brushing my teeth before bed last night. Besides the bugs I thought the ep was ok. I still think Bret Harrison (Sam) is adorable and Sock (Tyler Labine) is pretty funny. The Devil (Ray Wise) could be used a but more with no complaints from me. But is anyone else picking up on the fact that there is ZERO chemistry between Sam and Andi? And I hate to say it, but how bad must have Nikki Reed been as the original Andi to get recast, because Missy Peregrym is clearly not winning an Emmy for this role. I think she’s kind of painful to watch.
REAPER is enjoyable. I’m glad it’s on Tuesday night’s because I’m not sure I love it enough to stick with it had it been on a busier TV night. Are you guys watching? Still loving it?
House
Hugh Laurie is such an amazing actor. Without him this show could easily be just another medical drama. Dr. House is so many things but predictable is not one of them. Last night peeled back another layer of House when he intentionally shocked himself in order to find a new high? To see if there was life beyond this one? To kill himself? Probably not, but he almost did. I’m glad the writers didn’t feel the need to have House explain to the audience why he did it…it just adds more intrigue to his character.
As for the newbies, well I love them. I’m not missing Cameron, Chase and Foreman at all. So much so that when they were in scenes I was wishing them away wanting to get back to the newbies. I really think Oliva Wilde’s character (#13) is a great addition to the show. She’s a strong woman but doesn’t hero worship House the way Cameron did. She respects him but knows that in order to get hired he has to respect her too. I know we are supposed to be hating Amber (the cutthroat bitch who wants her sex organs to dangle) but I wonder if I am supposed to be hating her as much as I do. I find her really annoying. I personally want to see more of the old non-Doctor. I think he’s such an interesting character and I think there could be a real kinship between him and House.
House makes me happy.
Everything else…
Let’s see there was BONES, CARPOOLERS, CAVEMEN, DANCING WITH THE STARS? Fill me in on what happened on the shows you watched last night.

SUPERNATURAL’s Bela Speaks…
October 9, 2007 by Kath Skerry
I don’t need to watch SUPERNATURAL to hook you up with all the scoop. DuckyDoesTV.com talked earlier today with Lauren Cohan who plays Bela, one of the two new ladies on SUPERNATURAL who are bringing out the jealous streak in women everywhere. Here’s an excerpt from the interview:
DDTV: Bela shows up in Episode 3 “Bad Day at Black Rock” right?
LC: Yes, I’ll be on the 18th I believe. What can you tell us about your arrival?
LC: It’s kind of mysterious and they don’t really know what to make of her. She basically has a face off with Dean and gives him a taste of everything that is to come between them, she’s basically just out to weasel things out of them and then try to make it up to them in a way.DDTV: I’ve read that Bela is a bit like a mercenary and that she’s out for the money and her own good so I can only imagine that will cause some issues with the boys.
LC: Yes. To date she’s really only there exploiting the boys goodness so everything that they do, like all the ceremonies they perform and all of the paraphernalia they have to acquire to save people, she basically steals it and sells it for money to the Middle East and Russia, everywhere, and doesn’t have much of a conscience about it. She thinks she’s justified, thinks that the boys are really naive and kind of endearing but at the same time sees everything as an opportunity.DDTV: Now are you going to have any interaction with Katie’s character Ruby?
LC: We will soon, I think there’s some action between Katie and I in about 3 or 4 episodoes.

So Say We All: YOUR Take on Monday Night TV
October 9, 2007 by Kath Skerry
Filed under How I Met Your Mother, The Big Bang Theory
So many shows to discuss. I hope you’re all ready to ‘so say we all’ it up because there’s a lot to talk about today.
First up Chuck, Prison Break & Heroes – if you’re looking to chat with others about each of these shows, check them out here (the conversations are already underway) : Chuck Recap: Chuck vs. the Tango | Prison Break Recap: Good Fences | Heroes Redux
How I Met Your Mother
Just a ho hum episode for me. Nothing all that memorable about it. I laughed, as always but I didn’t think it was all that great. And let me just say that unless Robin is wearing acid washed jeans and signing about a mall I don’t think she’s funny enough to carry the B-plot on her own. Lily & Robin – yes. Robin on her own? No. Ted’s tricycle story would have been a lot more fun if Barney were at the bar with him. Then again, everything is funnier with Barney. I wonder if when Robin is done with her razor she can let me use it to cut Ted’s hair?!
The Big Bang Theory
I had written this show off after the pilot. It just didn’t hold my interest. But it seems that many of you enjoyed it. There were more than a few endorsements in the past two Monday’s ‘so say we all’ posts so I decided to give it another try last night. I will say that I thought last night’s ep was funnier than the pilot. I don’t think it’s up there with THE OFFICE, 30 ROCK and HIMYM but I still chuckled a few times. I was really and I mean really distracted by the laugh track though. And I’m not a laugh track snob (well a little) but I just finished watching HIMYM which also has a track and I didn’t notice it. But on The Big Bang Theory I felt that the laugh track was distracting. Maybe that’s just me being a snob.
Journeyman
Ah, it kills me but I haven’t watched the full episode yet. I’ll watch it tonight but feel free to comment away. I can close my eyes.
What else did you all watch last night? Monday’s are exhausting, aren’t they?!
HEROES Redux
October 9, 2007 by Kath Skerry
Not quite sure what’s going on with HEROES this season. I found last night’s episode to be uneven at best and laugh out loud funny at other times (and that would be me laughing at the show, not with them). What is going on? I mean, really?
To start with the good – I am enjoying Peter‘s “Bourne Identity” storyline. Maybe because is keeps his shirtless all the time, I’m not sure, but I find it interesting that he’s not sure of all of his powers. One thing he hasn’t lost is his power over the ladies. Peter may not know who he is but he’s still a stud. A stud with a tatoo or at least he was until it vanished. I was confused, can someone better versed in HEROES explain to me the transforming then disappearing tat? Was I supposed to understand that or is it a new mystery?
Sylar isn’t sure he will ever get his powers back and while I hope he doesn’t (I’m all about saving innocent lives) he better soon (interesting TV trumps innocent lives).
The marital spats between Parkman and Mohinder are starting to bore me. Move to Massachusetts, get married, raise Molly together and be done with it. On second thought, maybe Molly and Micah would be better off on their own. These two kids are smarter than the people caring for them.
The less Nikki/Jessica the better, but who did Ali Larter piss off to get so little screen time so far this season?
