So Say We All: Ugly Betty, Scrubs & Grey’s Anatomy

November 2, 2007 by

There’s just too much good TV on Thursday night.  I haven’t been to sleep on a Thursday before 2am in about two years.  I’m a little groggy this morning but not too tired to chat about last night’s TV.

Here’s my random thoughts on last night’s shows, but I’m more interested in what YOU have to say.  Bring it people….

Ugly Betty
Ugly Betty

For a 20-something girl with braces, bad hair, bushy eyebrows, hideous glasses, and a horrific sense of style, Betty Suarez sure seems to always be fighting off men with a stick. Way to work it, Betty.  There is just something so sweet about Betty’s relationship with the adorkably hot Henry. I’m so pulling for them and hope that maybe in the end Charlie isn’t having Henry’s baby and it was just all a mix up.  I’m not sure how the average ‘Betty’ viewer liked last night’s episode, but I’m all about the musical ‘Wicked’ so I was more than fine with seeing performances from the show in the second half.  Especially the heartbreaking scene set to “I’m Not That Girl.” Aw.  After momentarily breaking it off with Henry, Betty shows up at his doorstep and the two go inside to finally get it on (try not to visualize it).  But with the reemergence of Gio the sandwich guy, I’m wondering if Henry is going to work extra hard to keep Betty by his side.

In other love news, Marc was an selfish asshat to his new beau and bear, Cliff.  I’m glad Cliff had enough and gave Marc the boot, but I was even happier when Marc went crawling back on hands and knees (ok it was just a phone call but you know he’ll get there eventually).  Willie’s daughter is skipping the wedding and she is looking to Victoria Beckham to stand in as her new MofH. Thankfully there was very little Alex, Braford and Claire last night – the less Meade Family drama, the happier I am.

Scrubs

Scrubs

Scrubs has never been appointment television for me.  Every time I watch it I find it laugh out loud funny, but it just has never grabbed me like some shows.  If the TiVo didn’t record it I wouldn’t lose any sleep over it.  But I did watch it last night and I found it to be pretty damn amusing.  The big news of the night was the birth of J.D.’s son, Sam.  Despite the end of J.D. and Kim’s relationship in the midst of labor, J.D. mans up and is there for his baby mama.  Loved Turk and Carla battling it out over the video game.  And how sweet was it that Dr. Cox didn’t want to give his baby a shot because he didn’t want her to associate him with pain…to bad the pediatrician felt the same way.  Ha!!

Grey’s Anatomy

Grey’s Anatomy

Alex Karev is a whore.  Does the man have to have sex with everyone in that hospital? Wasn’t he all about Ava just last week?  You disappoint me, Alex. And Lexie Grey – give me a reason to like you…just one. Also having sex are Meredith & Derek.  And is it me or is Meredith starting to show small signs of growth and maturity with all the introspection about her life after her near death experience?  I went the entire episode without wanting to smack Meredith, which is a rare occurrence for me. Speaking of near death, a big shout out to David Denman for his role of the skydiver whose parachute didn’t open and he didn’t have any injuries to show for it. It was great to see David back on TV and I’m all for seeing him every week – yes, even on The Office. (and interesting that Office fans had Roy & Karen back on TV last night).

Over in the not having sex department were Izzie & George, who despite planning the “perfect” night did nothing but fall asleep from exhaustion.  Why did these two need to ruin their friendship by having sex and mistaking that for love.  I’m glad George and Callie are over but I’m so not into George & Izzie.  Also not having sex (but probably only because the new head of cardio is a woman) is Yang.  Fighting to get the respect or at least recognition of Dr. Hahn isn’t easy and Christina is c%ck-blocked by Izzie on a major surgery.  But in the end, being a good doctor isn’t always about the surgery itself…something Izzie proved with her thoughtfulness and care for the patient.

Overall an ok episode for me. Nothing mind blowing, but it wasn’t my favorite.  Come on Grey’s, I know you have it in you.  Just give me one completely kick ass episode and I’m back on the train!!!

I’m done.  Whew.  Your turn…

I have only seen the last 5 minutes of Ugly Betty (it’s on the DVR) but just the “Gravity” song from Wicked made me weepy!

I watched all THREE shows, and was only really mildly amused with Scrubs. It has been appointment TV for me since I caught it in reruns in the summer, but I find this season is much darker, and not as happy. Adding to my “I want to slap her” list is now Elliot Reid. I’m still angry at her *for* Keith. But Carla and Turk battling the video game was adorable, and so was Cox with little baby JD.

I watched Ugly Betty for the first time, and only because Wicked was featured. Great music, but the blonde is just no Cheno.

Grey’s Anatomy … eh, it was an okay episode for me. And I still wanted to slap Meredith Grey (as I do every episode). Izzie was cute, and Yang was her hilariously bitter self. It was okay, but like you said, not a completely kickass episode 🙁

TRUE about Ugly Betty. Except I have unadulterated loathing for Gio. His voice makes me cringe.

The only good thing about Lexie is that she annoys me more than Meredith and I think as a generality, you’re supposed to like the main character of a show.

I’m so glad to see an Ugly Betty re-cap! Unfortunately, I’m behind on episodes because of The Office Convention, but hopefully I’ll get to catch up on all of my TV (I haven’t seen Heroes in weeks!) this weekend. THEN I can actually read what you wrote about Ugly Betty. But for now I wanted to let you know that it’s appreciated!

Am I the only one that thinks Izzie has become a sniveling whiner? During Seasons 1 and part of 2, I thought she had such potential. This storyline of her and George isn’t believable. Maybe you all see something I don’t. Great episode last night…loved seeing Roy again.

I was high on cold medicine last night but even if my eyes hadn’t been all watery I would have been crying my eyes out over Ugly Betty. I thought it was a fantastic episode, particularly after the last few lackluster ones we’ve been handed. Three cheers!

As for Grey’s, I think I’m like everyone else. I enjoyed but it wasn’t my favorite ever.

Is there a petition or something to get the writers of Grey’s to STOP the George and Izzieness? If not, i’m gonna start one. Its gross, i hate it, and its making me like the show less and less. I literally get nauseous when I see them together, and i really wish i was exaggerating. Its terrible how they’re glorifying the adulterers and making Callie look as though she’s in the way of their happiness. Umm… excuse me writers but that’s really messed up!

Okay so I watched Ugly Betty last night and I don’t think I ever will again. I only watched because of “Wicked”. I thought it was funny that they used the LA cast even though the show is set in NY. The LA cast is so amazing. Eden and Megan, are so amazing. I love them, although watching them on tv was wonderful, seeing them live is so much better. I wish there was more “Wicked” in the episode, but it was still good to see any of it. I love “Wicked”!!!!

I’m really excited to see this Ugly Betty, but i guess i have to wait until it airs in Australia. I recently visited the US and i saw Wicked in LA so i’m really excited to see the Cast and the Theatre i saw, especially i was there pretty close to the time of the filming, it’ll be really exciting to point out to people that it’s what/who i saw. I’m obsessed with Wicked and i love how often UB mention it. The LA cast were amazing. Wicked is coming to Australia next July, so that episode should air JUST in time to give the show a bit of boost. As if it needed one!!

I’m going to be laughing the whole time though, and yelling at the screen “THAT’S NOT THE GERSHWIN AND THAT’S NOT THE BROADWAY CAST!”

I really like Betty and am pulling for the adorkable Henry. I had to hate this show when it was going up against The Office, but now I’m free to like it and I really do.

Grey’s – eh – as for Lexi I was sort of liking her but she fell off my list big time. Alex needs some big time therapy. Gizzie is fine by me, am a party of one on that methinks.

So I finally watched UB and thought it was pretty good. I wasn’t huge on the Wicked stuff. I watched 3 episodes in a row so it’s hard to remember which parts are from which episode, but I’ve always been an Ugly Betty fan and hopefully always will.

Thanks for your weblog post. I would also like to say that the health insurance broker also works properly with the benefit with the coordinators of a group insurance policy. The health insurance agent is given a listing of benefits searched for by individuals or a group coordinator. What a broker might is look for individuals or possibly coordinators which typically very best match up those requirements. Then he provides his tips and if both parties agree, the actual broker formulates a contract between the two parties.
