Behind the Scenes with HEROES Stars

If you are like me and enjoy seeing your favorite stars in their down time, then you’ll have a blast watching some home movies taken by HEROES star Adrian Pasdar featuring his HEROES co-stars. Some of them are quite interesting and artsy while others are our flat out funny. To die hard HEROES fans these might be old news, but they were new to me so I thought maybe they’d be new for some of you.

Here are a few of my faves:

He play an evil doer planning on world domination, but behind the scenes HEROES star David Anders is a big ol’ ham, and a bit of a crooner.

It have been pretty funny to walk through Times Square while this first video was being filmed. And as for the second, well let’s just say that it might give you some sweet dreams.

Bret Harrison (Reaper), Zachary Levi (Chuck), Lee Pace (Pushing Daisies) - USA Today

At the beginning of the TV season, all of us TV bloggers were ranting and raving about our favorite new shows of the 2007 TV season. Most of our predictions were based on having seen the pilot episode during the summer. I was telling anyone that would listen to watch PUSHING DAISIES and CHUCK, but even at the time I had one seen one episode of those shows. So now, as we enter December, Scooter McGavin polled a few TV bloggers to find out which were our favorite new shows of the season (now that we have enough episodes under our belt).Below are the top 10 shows according to TiFaux, Ducky Does TV, Like a Brickstorm, GloxyBox, Ramblings of a TV Whore, Daemons TV, Scooter McGavin, Tube Talk Girl, TVFan, and Tapeworthy:

Note: Numbers in (parentheses) denote first place votes and those in bold indicate my votes.

  1. Pushing Daisies – ABC (8)
  2. Chuck – NBC (2)
  3. Dirty Sexy Money – ABC

  5. Gossip Girl – CW
  6. Aliens in America – CW

CHUCK Recap: Chuck vs. The Nemesis

Episode: “Chuck vs. The Nemesis”
Original Airdate: 11.26.07
GMMR Recapper: SB
Man, I know everyone is probably dying to talk about this episode so I want to get crackin’ on the recap, but there was just so much in this one that I don’t even know where to start!

I guess the obvious place to begin is that this was the return of conscious Bryce, played by Matthew Bomer and who my buddy Bryan already has a huge crush on. So I guess you could say that Bryce gives him a Bomer! And yes, I have been dying to make that joke all morning, lame as it may be, so thank you all for allowing me the opportunity, gross as it may have been. Do you think we should make t-shirts? Perhaps cross-stitch it on a pillow?

Anyway, he’s alive, strapped to a chair, and wants to see Chuck. He makes Chuck prove that he’s the REAL Chuck by speaking Klingon. So is making faux people CIA/spy protocol now, and if so, why hasn’t this come up yet? Because that would be so incredibly awesome. Anyway, I guess Bryce has some sort of Hulk-like strength because he busts out of his restraints and takes Chuck hostage. Hasn’t he been dead for like … nine episodes? Or at least frozen? Didn’t his muscles atrophy at all? Anyway, once we kind of get over this part, it picks up for me, even though most of the spy plot is Bryce popping up, wreaking havoc, fighting, danger … you know, the usual. The Fulcrum story was kind of confusing for me, but as best I can tell, Bryce was tricked into going rogue for an inside coup sort of thing, and Scar Face Asian Guy (which I realize now, sadly, that I am not going to be able to use as an acronym) was behind it. Tommy, I believe it was. I admit that I was a little distracted by my dog playing with his basset hound friend, Otis, and they were being every bit as gay as Captain Awesome suggesting water sports to Casey.

HOUSE Makes His Final Decision Tonight!

House | 9pm on FOX
I’m not sure it’s going to come as any big shock since the news was leaked in all the major outlets a while back, but tonight Dr. House decides who is going to make the final cut and join his team on a permanent basis.  Who will be cut?#13, Cutthroat Bitch, Taub or Kumar Kutner?  And more importantly, will we learn the real name of #13 or will she be this show’s Mr. Big?
After Cuddy puts the pressure on House to choose the final members of his team, House deliberately assigns the candidates to a particularly challenging case – an uncooperative, over-the-hill former punk rock star with a history of drug abuse and civil disobedience. House informs the candidates their potential future depends on correctly diagnosing the patient. As the candidates race to find out if the patient is ailing due to drug abuse, an underlying disease or an unknown condition, House keeps a running tally of their efforts, making a few arbitrary point deductions along the way. Meanwhile, Wilson informs a former patient whom he had previously diagnosed with terminal cancer that he is going to live, and the news throws a wrench in the man’s carpe-diem lifestyle.

If you’ve read the spoilers and know who House will be keeping and cutting, let’s NOT mention it in the comments out of respect for those who don’t know.  Besides, I’m not 100% convinced we were fed the right information. Seems a little suspect that the casting news was made public so early, no?

HEROES Redux: Truth & Consequences

November 27, 2007 by
Filed under Heroes, Heroes Recaps, Heroes Spoilers

Warning! This post contains spoilers for last night’s episode of HEROES. The comments may contain speculation based on spoilers for next week’s winter finale. Read at your own risk.

Was it just me or did last night’s episode of HEROES feel slow? I’m not saying I didn’t enjoy it, because I did, but it seemed to have a calmer pace. Maybe it just feels that way because the episodes as of late have been so frantic in their storytelling. This isn’t the HEROES of Season 1 (yet), but I find myself completely back and recommitted to show, like I wasn’t earlier in the season. And speaking of Season 1, I watched a bunch of eps during the MoJo marathon this weekend and they were damn good. Let’s get Heroes back there, ok?

Truth & Consequences…
I thought Claire had some really fantastic moments and I’m ready for her to stop being Daddy’s little girl and start being the bad ass “pom pom” girl that we all know she is. First she puts Bob in his place and then she goes toe-to-toe with his little girl, Elle. Anyone else hoping that Clair and Elle team up on the side of good in the future? Gotta love to hot blondes doing their part to save the world. Oh and with the Bennett family moving away, I also hope that we have seen the end of West. Fly away little boy, fly away.

Peter is still hot, but not hot enough that he didn’t deserve a slap upside the head last night. Anyone else find it odd that Peter is interested in stopping the virus because he wants to save some Irish chick he banged once in a bar? How about saving all of humanity?  Men and their raging hormones. I have to say that I enjoy how Milo is playing Peter this season. I get that sense of loss and confusion from him. He’s not sure who to trust and really what’s going on around him and I really feel that coming from Milo. Either that or it’s just me being the one who is confused.

I Love CBS Comedies…When Did That Happen?

November 27, 2007 by
Filed under How I Met Your Mother, The Big Bang Theory

Before we get into my thoughts on last night’s episode of HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER, I wanted to take a minute to let you all know that THE BIG BANG THEORY is now back on my list of appointment TV for Monday night (like I needed another show). I didn’t love the pilot, but based on a few recs I started watching a few here and there and found them funny, but I just couldn’t commit to another show. But what I didn’t realize was that my second DVR had been recording the show every week. So after a mini-marathon this weekend, capped off by last night’s hilarious episode (a repeat I hadn’t seen), I just want to say that Sheldon, Louis, Penny and the boys have now made it to the (not so) exclusive GMMR watchlist. If you haven’t checked it out, give it a shot…it’s pretty damn funny. Bring on Sheldon!!

Here are two scenes that had me laughing from last night’s episode:

How I Met Your Mother

How I Met Your Mother
After last week’s Slapsgiving Day episode I knew the episode we got this week was going to be a bit of a let down. And I was right. Usually I’m all for Barney being the focus of the episode but last night was so much about Barney that the rest of the cast just felt like filler. The gym storyline seemed to be an afterthought, and an unfunny one at that. I was happy to see pre-suit, hippy Barney and the return Wayne Brady as his pre-gay (but not so much) brother James so. It kills me to criticize this show because it’s one of my favorites, but I thought Barney getting the ‘yips’ at the Victoria’s Secret party was a bit overdone. It was funny, don’t get me wrong, but that scenario had so much potential and I think with better writing Neil Patrick Harris could have done a lot more with it. Overall, an enjoyable episode but I didn’t laugh out loud as I normally do (or as much as I did during The Big Bang Theory).

CHUCK & LIFE Get Full Season from NBC

According to reports from E!, NBC has granted both CHUCK and LIFE the back nine, meaning both shows have received a full season pickup. Congrats to both shows!! Now we just need some good news on the end of the strike and I’ll really be happy.

As we discussed earlier, the other NBC freshman shows JOURNEYMAN and BIONIC WOMAN have yet to receive full season orders…which in light of this announcement is really telling.

Rainn Wilson on ‘Wired Science’

November 26, 2007 by
Filed under Dwight Schrute, Rainn Wilson, The Office

Rainn Wilson is keeping himself busy during the WGA strike buy guesting stinting on PBS’s ‘Wired Science’. Rainn, along with host Chris Hardwick (remember him from MTV’s “Singled Out”) play “What’s Inside Your Medicine Cabinet”, a game in which various ingredients are presented that are all present in something found in common medicine cabinets. Yes, it’s as boring as it sounds, but it’s Rainn Wilson so I thought you’d like it.

Thanks to Becks for passing this on. And thanks to JustJared.com for first bringing it to the attention of Becks.

Adam Baldwin Has the Scoop on CHUCK

Adam Baldwin, CHUCK

It seems that we have a lot of CHUCK fans around here, which thrills me to no end as it’s one of my TV faves this season. But I also know that CHUCK star Adam Baldwin, who plays NSA agent John Casey on the show, has been a long time favorite of some of you because of his role as Jayne in the Firefly/Serenity series. TV Guide recently talked to Adam about his role as Casey, what Zach Levi is really like offset, and just what Yvonne Strahovski is wearing under that Swiss Miss costume.

TVGuide.com: It’s nice to see Chuck ticking back up in the ratings.
Adam Baldwin:
Yeah, yeah, I mean we have really tough competition on Monday nights. The sports guys [watching Monday Night Football], hopefully they’ll be finding us [when the NFL season is over]. So we’re all full of high hopes. And then… there’s the writers strike.

TVGuide.com: And then there’s the writers strike. How many episodes did you get done?
Baldwin:
We will complete the initial order of 13. They banged out Episode 112 just before the midnight deadline, and we’re now three or four days into [production on] Episode 111.

TVGuide.com: Will Chuck happen to leave us with any kind of a cliffhanger?
Baldwin:
Er, that’s above my pay grade to comment on. [Laughs] But yeah, I think so. There’s something. (Continue reading at TVGuide.com)

Don’t Get Your Hopes Up, But…

November 26, 2007 by

DeadlineHollywood.com is reporting that a very reliable source has told them that a deal between the WGA and the AMPTP might already be done.  I’m just going to pass along the information so you can read it for yourself.

From Nikki Finke’s Deadline Hollywood:

As the WGA strike begins its 4th week, I’ve been told positive news about today’s resumption of contract talks between the writers and the producers. So positive, in fact, that I’m almost fearful to post it. But here goes: a very reliable source tells me that there appears to be a deal seemingly in place between both sides.

“It’s already done, basically,” the insider describes. That’s because of the weeks worth of groundwork by the Hollywood agents working the writers guild leadership on one side, and the studio and network moguls on the other. I was told not to expect an agreement this week.  But my source thought it was possible that the strike could be settled before Christmas.

Look, I don’t want to raise false hope here. But this source has been very accurate in the past. The negotiations starting today will have a news blackout, so don’t expect any significant leaks. But consider the real possibility there’s been a breakthrough. Still, I must caution that this is Hollywood — where defeat is snatched from the jaws of victory nearly every time.

I’m not going to try to get too excited until I hear an official announcement.

Calling All JOURNEYMAN Fans – URGENT!!

Journeyman

If you are a fan of the NBC show JOURNEYMAN than it is muy importante that you watch the show LIVE tonight.  Like many of you, I usually record JOURNEYMAN on my DVR and watch it the next morning, but tonight we can’t do that.  According to this report from Zap2It, there are rumblings that NBC might pull the plug on the Freshman drama and not air the remaining episodes if the ratings aren’t their tonight.  And they aren’t looking at the DVR ratings.  This rumor hasn’t been confirmed by NBC but let’s not risk it.I don’t know about you, but I seem to see a lot more advertising for the NBC bomb BIONIC WOMAN than I do Journeyman. As a friend pointed out to me, most of the Journeyman ads encourage viewers to watch the show on NBC.com (and give NBC the advertising dollars that they won’t share with the writers? Yeah, no.). If you’re going to give up on show then drop Bionic and give Journeyman a fair shot.

Watch Journeyman tonight at 10pm on NBC.

THE AMAZING RACE Season 12

Ok fans of THE AMAZING RACE, I have a question for you. Do you actually like any of the teams this season? Here we are in the fourth leg into the race and I have yet to find a team to pull for. In general the teams seem a bit more whiny this season. I thought I was liking Azaria and Hendekea for awhile, but he really annoyed me tonight. Kynt & Vyxsn are ok but I don’t always think they put in enough effort. And Donald & Nick don’t annoy me all that much but I don’t find them particularly interesting. The rest of them…eh, I couldn’t be bothered. There are a ton of reason that I could never run the race (including my inability to read a map and my ability to get lost in my own town), but I could seriously not deal with someone screaming in my face to ‘ go faster’ or ‘hurry up’ under already stressful circumstances. I’d probably lose it and try to kill someone on a Detour.

The WGA and AMPTP are scheduled to meet today to discuss the labor issues that have kept the WGA on strike since November 5th. Let’s hope the AMPTP comes to the table with a fair deal and the two sides can work it out and people can get back to work before the holidays.

Check out this incredible video produced by the Screen Actors Guild in support of the WGA. You might see a few familiar faces.
