So Say We All: Pushing Daisies, Private Practice, Dirty Sexy Money and More…

Sometimes it’s almost impossible to watch all of Wednesday night TV on Wednesday night. For me it’s almost like Wed night/Thursday morning television. But I got through it…well most of it. So let’s chat, shall we?
Let’s start with the end of the night first and work our way backwards.
Dirty Sexy Money
I’m going to be upfront and say that I probably can’t give the fairest assessment of last night’s episode (what a way to start, right?!). I watched it at 6am this morning and I was still half asleep and a wee bit nauseous from the Halloween candy I ate last night. I did like last night’s episode, but I found myself distracted a few times. I’m a little bored by the Karen storyline as it doesn’t seem to go anywhere and there was a lot of Karen last night. She’s sassy and sexy and I’d like to see her do something that doesn’t involve marrying and sleeping with men. Does she work? What does she do with her time? I’m sure nothing this woman does is boring so let’s see what else Karen Darling can give us.
I’m not super into the mystery surrounding Dutch’s death to the Simon Elder arc doesn’t intrigue me as much as it should. That being said, the twist at the end with Nick’s betrayal of Simon (or was it Tripp) had be more interested than ever. The apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree.
My Darling of the Week award goes to Father Brian who actually showed concern for his son last night and the two bonded a little…it was cute. But I do worry for the parishioners of Brian’s church…the guy goes to church about as much as I do, and that’s not saying much. Dirty Sexy Money continues to be one of my favorite new shows of the season, and I’m still bewildered why it’s not the break out hit of the season.
Private Practice & Pushing Daisies after the jump…

What a night of TV we have ahead of us! I can’t decide if I’m more excited to see the cast of ‘Wicked’ on Ugly Betty or the return of Karen Fillipelli (Rashida Jones) on The Office. Is wicked witches the theme of tonight or what? (Just kidding!!)
And sorry for the initial absence of SCRUBS!! I almost forgot that the show is back. I’ll be watching.
What will you be checking out?
Ugly Betty | 8pm on ABC
“Something Wicked This Way Comes”
Betty and Henry’s secret rendezvous at the musical “Wicked” runs into interference from Daniel, who’s busy trying to land an advertiser (Marlo Thomas) with an eye for younger men. (Sidenote: I just saw ‘Wicked’ this past Tuesday and it was fantastic!!)
My Name is Earl | 8pm on NBC (1-hour long episode)
“Our Other Cops is On″
A locally filmed episode of “Cops” features a wealth of bad behavior that is all tied to Earl in some way. Kenny also appears in the episode and his resentment for Earl is caught on film.
The Office | 9pm on NBC
“Branch Wars”
Karen’s return to Scranton causes a ruckus when she courts Stanley to relocate, prompting Michael to go on the offensive and recruit Jim in his battle. Elsewhere, a “Finer Things Club” riles the employees.
Scrubs | 9:30pm on NBC
“My Hard Labor”
Kim goes into labor as she and J.D. contemplate their future together; Dr. Cox can’t bring himself to give his daughter a shot; Turk and Carla obsess over beating a video game; and Dr. Kelso consoles his heartbroken son.
Grey’s Anatomy | 9pm on ABC (ALERT!! Ends at 10:07pm)
“Kung Fu Fighting”
With his marriage in turmoil, the Chief spends a “gentlemen’s evening” with his fellow male surgeons; Cristina and Izzie heatedly compete for the same surgeries (and the favor of the surgeon performing them).
Also on…
- CSI | 9pm on CBS
- Smallville | 8pm on The CW
- Survivor: China| 8pm on CBS
- Supernatural | 9pm on The CW
- ER | 10pm on NBC

Joss Whedon Returns to TV with DOLLHOUSE

Joss Whedon fans around the globe are all a flutter today with the news that the TV genius is back to the small screen with a new show called DOLLHOUSE. The show, starring Buffy alum (and Boston gal) Eliza Dushku, has already been picked up for seven episodes by Fox. Whedon broke the news of his new endeavor to E!’s Kristin Dos Santos just yesterday.
The premise of the show sounds absolutely amazing!!
Echo (Eliza Dushku) [is] a young woman who is literally everybody’s fantasy. She is one of a group of men and women who can be imprinted with personality packages, including memories, skills, language—even muscle memory—for different assignments. The assignments can be romantic, adventurous, outlandish, uplifting, sexual and/or very illegal. When not imprinted with a personality package, Echo and the others are basically mind-wiped, living like children in a futuristic dorm/lab dubbed the Dollhouse, with no memory of their assignments—or of much else. The show revolves around the childlike Echo’s burgeoning self-awareness, and her desire to know who she was before, a desire that begins to seep into her various imprinted personalities and puts her in danger both in the field and in the closely monitored confines of the Dollhouse.
How incredibly delicious does that sound? I can’t wait!! And I promise NOT to miss the boat of this Whedon show. See I am one of the few that never watched Buffy and missed the whole Serenity/Firefly phenomenon. My friend Rae looks at me with disdain when I tell her that I best know Joss Whedon from his guest stint on Veronica Mars and from The Office episode he has directed (last season’s ‘Business School’ and tonight’s ‘Branch Wars’). I’m joking of course. Although I may never have seen Whedon’s past projects I do understand that only a true genius (or mad man) can attract the loyal following he has. And for Dollhouse I’ll be on board!!
Kristin Dos Santos has MUCH more from Joss, including the very interesting story about how this show came to be, both the idea and with the studio, news of when it might start, and how the writer’s strike will affect the launch date. She also gets a chats with Dollhouse sta, Eliza Dushku.
So if you are a fan of Joss Whedon, or just a fan of TV in general, check out the exclusive interview here.
