On Saturday, November 10, the 102 members of THE OFFICE production crew were laid-off without severance. As the holiday season approaches, fans of THE OFFICE have united in an effort to show a gesture of appreciation by creating the Office Fans Christmas Fund. Now in addition to donating, you have the chance to win a special day on the set of THE OFFICE.

Gilford and Bledel Face “Survival”
December 7, 2007 by Kath Skerry
Filed under Friday Night Lights, Gilmore Girls
In the television utopia in my mind “Friday Night Lights” Matt Saracen and “Gilmore Girls” Rory Gilmore would have made a great on-screen duo. Now it seems that I’m going to be able to see it play out – maybe not in Dillon, Texas or Stars Hollow but on the big screen. Zach Gilford (FNL) and Alexis Bledel (GG) will star together in “The Post-Grad Survival Guide” which will start shooting in Los Angeles next week.
In the comedy, Ryden Malby (Alexis Bledel) graduates from college and is forced to move back into her childhood home with her eccentric family, while she attempts to find a job, the right guy, and just a hint of where her life is headed. Gilford plays her love interest.
Other big names attached to the film include Carol Burnett, Michael Keaton and Rodrigo Santoro.
I’m there!

GREY’S ANATOMY Sneak Peek

It’s been a long time since I was pretty excited about an episode of GREY’S ANATOMY. But tonight’s conclusion to the big cliffhanger has me kind of stoked up about it. Maybe it’s just my love for all things Seth Green. He and his exploding arteries will be back tonight, as will the almost dead guy in the ambulance. Sadly, Meredith will be around too, but I don’t think there’s hope of getting rid of her anytime soon.
Here’s two scenes from tonight’s episode for your viewing pleasure:
Fan/Writer Rally In Boston with Joss Whedon and More
December 6, 2007 by Kath Skerry

The following was lifted directly from Ducky Does TV. I’m talking word for word plagiarism…but he loves me so I hope he doesn’t mind.
BOSTON TV FANS AND WGA WRITERS dust off your picket signs, your sandwich boards, your megaphones, and walking sneaks because it’s time for us to throw down Boston style! The Browncoats, the Sci-Fi geeks and the intellectual humorists will descend upon Cambridge to support the striking writers.
From Jamie Paglia (Sci-Fi’s Eureka):
We are planning the event for Friday, December 14th from 12 noon – 3 pm. There will be an assembly of writers, fans (and potentially celebrity guests!) at the distinguished public affairs program Cambridge Forum in the Meeting House of the historic First Parish (Unitarian Universalist) Church, 3 Church St., Cambridge, MA 02138. There, guest speakers (which so far include Joss Whedon, Rob Kutner with a few of his Daily Show crew, and myself) will say a few words of thanks to our fans and talk about the cause they’re supporting. Once we are sufficiently pumped up, everyone will march with picket signs and pamphlets through Harvard Square to a rally outside of the famed Harvard Lampoon building, where so many great television comedy writers cut their teeth. It will offer a chance for Boston fans and writers to walk side by side, show the media and AMPTP that we’re galvanized in our cause, and we’re growing. We know our position is just, and we’ll keep adding similar demonstrations in cities across the country until we get a fair deal. (In the event that an agreement between the Guild and the AMPTP is reached prior to the rally, we’ll simply change the focus to a celebration of the resolution.)
Your job is to show up and bring your friends! We want fans of all shows and films in attendance. We wouldn’t be here without you and we want to show the studios and networks that our fans are a force to be reckoned with. So get on the fan boards and spread the word.
Dan for DuckyDoesTV.com and I will be out there with our picket signs. If you’re in the Boston area and want to join us, please let me know so we can coordinate!!

We’ve got a pretty good night of television tonight. Or should I say YOU have a pretty good night of television tonight. I on the other hand will be boarding a plane at around 9:30pm to head back home to Boston. It’s a Jet Blue flight so had I been leaving earlier I could have caught all the shows on the plane, but as it stands I’ll probably be watching TV around 10pm tonight…just as all the good stuff is ending. Wah…wah! At least I can watch as Barbara tells me who the most fascinating person of 2007 is – if it’s Britney I’m jumping out of the plane.
Sorry about the lack of updates this week. The time change and the no TiVo really put a damper on my TV watching. We’ll be back to normal on Monday.
Here’s a little of what’s on TV tonight…
Ugly Betty | 8pm on ABC
“Bananas for Betty”
Wilhelmina’s latest image makeover hits a snag. Meanwhile, Betty drags a reluctant Henry on a double date with Hilda and Gio. Betty White appears as herself.
My Name is Earl | 8pm on NBC
“Early Release″
When the warden (Craig T. Nelson) denies Earl his promised early release from prison, Earl plans a great escape with help from the gang. Michael Rapaport also guest stars.
30 Rock | 8:30pm on NBC
“Secrets & Lies”
Jack and C.C. (Edie Falco) face a romantic test when she suggests going public with their odd-couple relationship. Meanwhile, Liz tries to satisfy the diva needs of her two stars, Tracy and Jenna..
The Office | 9pm on NBC (repeat)
“Business School”
Michael is invited to be a guest speaker at Ryan’s business school. Back at the office, Dwight goes batty trying to catch a bat, and Pam invites her colleagues to her first art exhibit. Directed by Joss Whedon.
Scrubs | 9:30pm on NBC
“My Number One Doctor”
Cox and Turk compete for the top spot on a Web site that rates doctors as they both try to sabotage J.D.’s ranking. Elsewhere, a terminal patient makes a confession to Elliot.
Grey’s Anatomy | 9pm on ABC
“Crash Into Me”
Conclusion. Meredith works furiously to save a paramedic trapped in an ambulance; Lexie holds the life of a patient in her hands; Derek must rely on a nurse to save a patient; Bailey struggles to balance her personal life with her work.

Another Thursday without a new episode of THE OFFICE. Sadly I can’t do much to help along the WGA negotiations but hopefully this will cheer you up. The peeps over at the NBC Universal store are giving away to one lucky GMMR reader one of the hottest new Office items of the season – the Michael Scott Talking Bobblehead!!
Win this contest and you can have Michael Scott uttering some of his most famous lines right on your desk. Or team up with your Dwight Schrute bobblehead (which I know you must already have) and send them on great Dunder Mifflin adventures.
Along with your bobblehead, the winner will also receive (2) “Support the Rabid” bracelets as seen in the “Fun Run” episode from earlier in the season.
How to Win….
Visit The Office store and listen to the infamous Michael Scott quotes featured in the new Michael Scott talking bobblehead. Now leave a comment on this post and tell me what Michael Scott quote should have been included but wasn’t?

John Krasinski Hits the Theatre
December 5, 2007 by Kath Skerry
Filed under Jim Halpert, John Krasinski, The Office
Don’t get too excited, this isn’t news about a new role for John Krasinski on Broadway (dare to dream) or a new movie role. It’s just that since THE OFFICE shut down production due to the WGA strike we haven’t heard much from Johnny. But last night John attended the Broadway opening of “August: Osage County”, a highly anticipated new American play by Pulitzer Prize finalist Tracy Letts. As many admirers (yeah that’s a good word) of John know, the boy hightails it out of L.A. and to his home in NYC whenever his schedule allows. John’s been spotted plenty around the Big Apple these days out and about with his BFF’s Joey Slotnick (who also attended the opening last night) and close friend Rashida Jones. So if you’re in NYC keep your eyes open for the unassuming, tall lanky guy with the ears…you never know if you’ll cross paths.

Everyone needs a laugh and THIS video will have you rolling. This is one of my favorite videos of all time and I can’t tell you how often I’ve watched it. Check out these bloopers from the UK version of THE OFFICE. If I could bottle Ricky Gervais laugh I would…so funny.
I hope you enjoy…even if you’ve never seen the show you’ll have fun watching these clips. (Warning! There’s so NSFW language)
Ellen DeGeneres Talks to President Bush on the Phone
December 5, 2007 by Kath Skerry
Talk about an unexpected turn of events. According to People.com, Ellen DeGeneres expectedly prompted her guest Jenna Bush to call her Mom and Dad (that would be The President and the First Lady) live during the taping of Ellen’s show. Jenna, unsure of her parents reaction, went ahead and made the call. Laura Bush answered and after mentioning that she was sitting with the President, Ellen said “I want to say hi to Daddy”…and so it went:
“Well, that’s great!” says the surprised Chief Executive, who asks DeGeneres, “How’s my little girl doing?”
“Oh, she’s great,” answers the host. “She’s scared she’s going to get in trouble [and] not going to get any Christmas presents.”
Pause. “Dad?” asks Jenna. “Yes, baby,” he replies. “Are you mad?” she inquires.
“No, not at all,” says President Bush. “I’m excited to talk to you. I’m glad to talk to Ellen.”
Sadly Ellen probably wasn’t expecting to talk to the President of the United States, or else maybe she could have put him on the spot about gay rights – now THAT would have been some television.

With the rationing of remaining original episodes of our TV faves over the past two weeks, it’s refreshing to have a night with a lot of new TV. Of course me still without a TiVo has some tough calls to make, but I suppose there are worse things in life.
Gossip Girl | 9pm on The CW
“Hi,Society”
Serena’s grandmother has much to say about the upcoming debutante ball, insisting that her reluctant granddaughter attend—and find a more suitable escort than Dan. Meanwhile, Nate accompanies Blair to the ball as her friend.
Private Practice | 9pm on ABC
“In Which Dell Finds His Fight”
Oceanside focuses on fertility and starts a dads-to-be class; Sam and Naomi struggle to figure out where their relationship is heading; Addison is conflicted about her status in the dating world; Cooper begins a secret affair with a colleague.ates.
Dirty Sexy Money | 10pm on ABC
“The Nutcracker”
Nick discovers Karen and Simon’s affair, which interrupts a Darling holiday tradition; Letitia advises Brian on his recent career woes; Lisa helps Jeremy impress Sofia; Carmelita believes she’s under surveillance.
Project Runway | 10pm on Bravo
“I Started Crying”
The designers merge into teams for a battle involving fashion faux pas. I was surprised that I didn’t get a call to be a mode for this episode. Although I don’t worry too much about fashion because snake and jeans is always a good look.
Life | 10pm on NBC
“Dig a Hole. Fill it Up.”
Conclusion. Crews bails on a crime-scene search to hunt down the person whom he believes committed the murders that sent him to jail.
Also playing…
- Santa Claus is Coming to Town | 8pm on ABC
- America’s Next Top Model | 8pm on The CW
- Kid Nation | 8pm on CBS

BIG BROTHER 9 Premieres in February
December 5, 2007 by Kath Skerry
There’s not a lot of great news coming out of the WGA strike, but there is a bright spot for fans of BIG BROTHER. CBS has just announced that the first ever winter edition of BIG BROTHER will premiere of February 12th. I know, I know, I probably shouldn’t be supporting reality TV in light of the WGA strike, but reality TV is part of our TV culture and it’s not going anywhere. I’m not planning on supporting the new slew of reality TV shows created just for strike filler, but I don’t see anything wrong in watching a show that has existed for 8 seasons before. Plus, I think long time GMMR readers know just how much I love me some Big Brother.
No news on the casting or any changes in this year’s game, but with a presumed shortened casting session, one can only hope we get a bunch of crazies…well more crazies than usual.
Once again the show will air three times a week, but this time around it will be on Tuesdays @ 8pm, Wednesdays @ 9pm and Sundays @ 9pm.
