Reason #4635 Why I Love FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS
January 5, 2008 by Kath Skerry
(Forgive the poor quality of the video and just focus on the performance…stunning)
I’ll tell ya. I thought that perhaps Landry was going to become this sap that just let Tyra walk all over him, and this scene really brought home exactly why these two should be together.

Those two are doing some seriously good acting. I heart Jesse and Adrianne!

I am officially now a fan of FNL. On your sage advice, GMMR, I’ve tried to watch it before last night a few times but I just couldn’t get into it and stay with it. Last night’s ep changed all that. I fell in love with it and there’s no turning back. Not the least of the reasons for my turnaround is your reason #4635 – wow, that was some fine acting. My heart bled for Landry but I was so proud of him.
Landry has turned out to be my Matt Saracen of this season. I loved Saracen last year because of his implied innocence and adorableness, but Landry has just grown up in front of our eyes these past few months and it’s breathtaking. Great acting on both Adrienne and Jesse’s parts this week.
Oh and poor Riggins, I feel horrible for him 🙁
Landry has this weird combination of slightly socially inept nerdy-ness and ballsy, I’m gonna tell it like it is-ness. Last season he was the funny side-kick and this season he has come into his own. I have enjoyed watching the progression, though I definitely miss the Landry-Saracen banter.
That being said, I am embarrassed to say that I almost cried when Riggins got tossed out. I generally don’t get like that with tv shows, but that killed me. When is this kid going to catch a break. Plus, I loved watching him fit in with the Taylors (watching him fly Gracie around was precious). It was a great moment when he thanked Coach for backing him up in the locker room. Not much was said, but it was a powerful scene none-the-less. You could tell he wasn’t used to having the support, and his taking the time to say thank you showed the maturity Coach has been looking for from him. When I heard the rumors about Julie and him I thought “that’s ridiculous” but after seeing his sweet side again, maybe it isn’t so ridiculous after all. I’m fine with it one way or another as long as we get more sweaty, shirtless Riggins time. Just don’t let him hook up with Mrs. T’s slutty sister.
What a great scene! I really love those two (my favorites on the show…along with Coach and Mrs. Coach :)). Landry became my Saracen toward the end of last season and hasn’t looked back since. Loved that he kept going after Tyra and loved even more that he realized to give up (for now). And on a superficial note, Adrienne looked so pretty at the dance.
It was the second best scene of the night. With the first being Coach Taylor confronting Coach Laribee. So good it almost made me want to start playing football.
Yeah, I’m glad this show came back on last night. I love that Landry stood up for himself and I hope Tyra realizes what she’s got and goes after him. I agree with TVaddict though, the scene with Coach Taylor and Coach Laribee was some good stuff. My husband and I were holding our breaths. Also, watching Buddy Garitty going to his wife’s house and telling her he loved her was just so hard to watch. It was so embarrasing. We kept yelling at the tv, “Don’t do it. Don’t do it”. And Riggins, I feel so bad for him. I like that he was looking out for Julie.
GMMR, how many more episodes do we have left? Just one?
So glad the show is back! And I’m happy to read that you’ve gotten into FNL, Lisa!
Such a great episode last night – Jesse and Adrianne are incredible and I’m so glad they’ve been given the spotlight for much of this season. And while I’ve always thought Riggins was hot, seeing him be so protective of Julie and being with the Taylors really has started this big crush I’ve got for him now! I hope Coach realizes soon that Tim wasn’t taking advantage of Julie – I really liked seeing the two of them off the football field having a kind of father-son relationship.
I hope this show isn’t a casualty of the strike when all is said and done. We need FNL, if only to see how p.poor reality shows can never compare to quality acting.
BTW, favorite scene from this ep was when Riggins overhears Coach complaining about Larribee’s coach on the telephone.
I gave in and watched this video (which was excellent) even though I’m still watching season one. I got the DVDs for Christmas, and I have just the last disk to watch left.
This show, by far is the most underrated show on television. Why we as fans have to continually go thru this, where they’re gonna cancel, and then they’re not. I have no clue, with the humongous following the show has, they would even have thoughts of cancelling this show. Well, one thing is for sure, we now we at the very least have 2 more years!!!…
Friday Night Lights Rocks!!!
Oh, and by the way, there is a new site that has just been released. It’s kinda like a MySpace website, but just devoted to Friday Night Lights Fans. It’s pretty cool, you should check it out.
