What to Watch…Friday, January 11, 2008

Believe it or not, we’ve got a great night of TV ahead of us. With new episodes of favorites like MOONLIGHT and FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS and the return of PSYCH (a show you must, must check out if you never have before), it almost feels like a normal night of TV – when’s the last time we had that?

Check out what will be on my TiVo tonight…

Moonlight | 9pm on CBS
“Love Lasts Forever”
Mick and Beth attempt to rescue Josh after he is kidnapped by a vindictive drug lord. Sidenote: A special congrats to MOONLIGHT for taking home the People’s Choice Award for Favorite New Drama. It beat out PRIVATE PRACTICE and GOSSIP GIRL…not an easy feat. Moonlight fans should be proud of their efforts.

Friday Night Lights | 9pm on NBC
“Jumping the Gun”
Smash feels pressured to make a commitment to a college. Elsewhere, Coach Taylor worries about Riggins and Julie; the Panthers gear up for the biggest game of the season; and Tami clashes with her sister (Jessalyn Gilsig). Sidenote: We are in for another fantastic episode of FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS tonight. Look for more conflict between Coach and Riggins leading up to a scene that had me reaching for the Kleenex. Damn those hot men for making me cry. And look out for a shout out to another TV show tonight…one that is quite popular around this here blog. With only a few more episodes left, tonight is a must watch.

Monk and Psych return tonight…
Two of USA’s standout shows are returning tonight with all new episodes. MONK is an old standby enjoyed by many for quite some time now. PSYCH isn’t exactly new but it hasn’t quite caught on the way MONK has. But in my personal opinion, PSYCH is the standout show. I actually think it’s one of the premiere comedies on all of TV. If you haven’t ever done so, set those DVRs for PSYCH tonight…I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

Monk | 9pm on USA
“Mr. Monk Joins a Cult”
Monk investigates a cult and unwillingly becomes influenced by its hypnotic leader. Howie Mandel guest stars.

Psych | 10pm on USA
“There’s Something About Mira”
A woman claiming to be Gus’ wife hires Shawn to search for someone. Kerry Washington guest stars.

Miss America: Reality Check | 10pm on TLC
Somehow I missed the premiere of this 4-part show, hosted by UGLY BETTY’s Michael Urie. I’m going to have to go back and try to find the first episode when I can. Anyway, this show follows the Miss America contestants as they prepare for the big show down later this month. I hate pageant and I’m trying to avoid reality shows, but my love for Michael Urie trumps it all. On tonight’s episode….Bye bye hairspray and caked on makeup. Two very special guests, celebrity hair-stylist Kim Vo and makeup guru Napoleon Perdis, give each woman a “prescription” for fixing their outdated looks.
