90210 Spinoff in the Works

Rumors are circulating that The CW is considering developing a pilot for a new show about kids from the world’s most famous zip code. According to The Hollywood Reporter, The CW has fast tracked a script for a spinoff of BEVERLY HILLS 90210 and will supposedly make a decision about the pilot by the end of the month.
My first thought was ‘hell to the NO’. Don’t mess with the legend that is 90210, and don’t let the execs over at The CW get their hands on it. I mean, with a few exceptions (ok just ‘Gossip Girl’), Ostroff and pals haven’t really shown an affinity for creating, and more importantly, supporting good television.
But then I read something that got me thinking that this might not be the worst idea ever.
Scoopage: Wentworth Miller Confirms Season 4 of PRISON BREAK

PRISON BREAK star and all around eye candy, Wentworth Miller, recently spent some time in Israel. While he was there he supposedly told a gaggle of reporters that PRISON BREAK will indeed be back for a fourth season, and that they start shooting at the end of the month. Miller went on to say that as expected, Michael will be going after the Company and those who killed Sara.
Had you asked me midway through S3, I don’t think I would have wanted a fourth season of the show. But the last few episodes of the season were so good that they’ve actually got me hooked again.

Ellen DeGeneres Reacts to Sally Kern

Ellen DeGeneres, there aren’t enough words for how much I love you. Ellen calls out Oklahoma representative Sally Kern who recently gave a speech condemning homosexuality saying that gays are “a worse threat to the US than terrorists or Islam”. It blows my mind that not only people elected this woman but that hard earned tax dollars are paying her salary.
I’m going to keep the comments closed for this one. My prerogative. I just don’t want any ignorant comments ruining my day. Damn good to have your own blog.

Who Was Evicted from BIG BROTHER Tonight?

Kudos to BIG BROTHER for continuing to try to spice things up after a pretty boring start to the season. Tonight was eviction night, but things were business as usual. Then again, the motto for this show is ‘expect the unexpected’.
Having heard some murmuring from the live feeds, I had a feeling that it was going to be James and not Sharon that went home tonight. And that’s just the way it went. Everyone in the house, with the exception of Chelsia, voted to evict James.
As is tradition, James left the house and had his exit interview with the ChenBot, but that’s where it got interesting. Julie informed James that he had a chance to get back into the house. The houseguests were going to have the chance to choose between either him or the mystery houseguest that the viewers at home voted to bring back into the house. The houseguest American chose was Alex, but the houseguests didn’t know. It was a vote between James and the mystery houseguest. In the end, the house voted to bring James back and within seconds he was back in the living room, like he never left.
The houseguests didn’t have any time to celebrate as they were summoned to the backyard for the HOH competition. An endurance comp had the HG’s standing above small disco balls lifted off the ground. When we last saw them, all were standing strong but were being doused in champagne. The last one standing will be the new HOH.
I’ll be keeping track of the progress of the HOH comp as well as I can tonight. I’ll post updated on the GMMR’s BIG BROTHER Spoilers page.
Who Went Home on AMERICAN IDOL?

If you’re looking to find out who got kicked off on tonight’s episode of AMERICAN IDOL, check it out here: Who Went Home on AMERICAN IDOL (April 8, 2009)
PREVIOUS POST
Tonight we said goodbye to another AMERICAN IDOL contestant. Someone’s hopes and dreams were shattered by the American public. God we suck.
But before we get to those in the bottom three let’s play a little Idol Spy.
- What well known faces were in the Idol audience tonight? Well, obviously you couldn’t miss Jim Carrey even if you tried. He must have pulled the short straw for that one. Guess Carell couldn’t take time off from his day job to make it across town tonight.
- Then we had a Sanjaya Malakar and sister Sanjaya sighting. Heard he’s doing bat mitzvahs these days. Anything to pay the bills.
- Sitting right next to the family Malakar was Reid Scott from “My Boys” – a TBS comedy, hmmm. What was he doing there? Well he did guest on last week’s “Unhitched” which is a Fox show. Doesn’t matter, the more Reid Scott the better.
- And of course, Katharine McPhee performed, and I must say that most of the performances last night were better than Kat. To say I was unimpressed would be a bit of an understatement. Then again, I never had the McPheever.
The Bottom Three…
Well the night didn’t start off well when one of my favorites, Syesha Mercado was put in the bottom three. I love this gal, and she so does not deserve to be going home tonight. The second contestant named, and rightfully so, was Kristy Lee Cook. Sadly for her that she was in the bottom three, and even sadder for us was that we had to listen to her rendition of “Eight Days a Week”. Rounding out the third was David Hernandez. Bummer dude. David is one of my favorites, and I hate that there’s a chance he’s going home.
After an hour of filler Seacrest finally got around to announcing just who was going home. And that person is… Read more

Anyone else feel like it’s all reality, all the time around here? Sorry, but I think I’m still taking advantage of the break from the WGA strike. I seem to be gravitating towards mindless TV these days. Next month we’ve got more real TV back, and I’m looking forward to it.

Tim Gunn Opens Up About Past Season…and Victorya
March 12, 2008 by Kath Skerry
One of my favorite TV writers, Maureen Ryan, had a great conversation with PROJECT RUNWAY star Tim Gunn about the level of talent this season, Christian’s win, and what the future holds for Project Runway contestants. And let me tell you, Mr. Gunn didn’t hold back. He was quite honest and spoke openly about mistakes of past contestants including Project Runway Season 1 winner, Jay. But he really let is loose when he spoke about his distaste for Victorya, a contestant from this past season of whom I was not a fan. Tim Gunn I love you!
Tim Gunn: [Regarding the sudden departure of Jack due to a serious infection] Victorya in particular was so hysterical with me and with the producers, [saying] ‘What are you doing to him? He should stay.’ It’s like, ‘You know something, he should be in the hospital right now. Stop it, and stop being so selfish.’”
Maureen Ryan: I don’t really understand why she was so upset. Can you explain that to me?
Tim Gunn: “She was sourpuss, a crabby apple as I keep saying, throughout almost all the show, other than Days 1, 2 and 3. She became this sour pill. Rich Bye, one of the executive producers, and I had two off camera interventions with her. I said to her, ‘You know what makes me beside myself is the fact that there are thousands of designers who would love to be in your place. What’s the matter with you?’
“She said, ‘I never dreamed the experience of being on the show would be like this.’ We said, ‘What do you mean?’ ‘I never dreamed we’d only have a day for challenges, that we wouldn’t have any breaks.’ ‘But you said you saw the show.’ She said, ‘I assumed it was cheated.’ I said, ‘Then you only have your own delusions to blame.’ She was really angry and bitter.
“On one occasion – they edited this out, I knew they would – we were at Mood [Fabrics], and I’m handing out money. They each have $250 dollars. She collects the envelopes from all the designers and hands them back to me. She said, ‘I want you to count it.’ I just stared at her. ‘You want me to do what?’
“She wanted me to count the money in each envelope. I looked to the producer on site with us, and I said, ‘I’m not doing this, am I?’ and he said, ‘The rules say that if a designer asks for the money to be counted, we have to count it.’ I said, ‘Fine,’ and asked why she wanted it counted. And she had pulled out this sheaf of papers – she had the rules with her – and she said, ‘I don’t believe that we all have the same amount of money.’ Why would we do that? If someone didn’t have the right amount, wouldn’t they come to me? So I counted the money.
“But that’s what it was like dealing with her. She actually said about Jack’s departure that we had engineered him leaving because he wasn’t a pretty face anymore. I just said to her, ‘I fundamentally don’t understand why you can’t understand that he is seriously ill. Furthermore, it’s a MRSA [infection]. We are all at risk.’ But she said we were forcing him out and that shouldn’t happen and we should have a hearing or something.”
MR: That explains what the hostility was about in the reunion special. I think I get that now.
TG: “I still don’t understand [what was going on with her]. She was at the finale party last night. I said to myself, ‘What are you doing here? Why are you here, you’ve disassociated yourself from the show, supposedly, but you’re here?’
“I will say this too, as sour as she is, she is extremely talented.”

AMERICAN IDOL Top 12 Perform

Play time is over kids. Now it’s game on. Tonight for the first time, the top 6 guys go head-to-head with the top 6 girls. The boys have been creating most of the buzz thus far so the girls have a lot to prove. The Top 12 will be taking on the Lennon/McCartney songbook for the first time in IDOL history, and they’re doing it on a brand new American Idol set. Let’s see who’s up for the challenge tonight.
I’m GMMR and THIS is American Idol.
Leading off the big night is Syesha Mercado with “Got to Get You Into My Life”. I really dig this girl but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t waiting for a big performance from her. This song was great, and she sounded incredible but was it enough to really set herself apart from the pack? I’m not sure. Randy thought it was just alright. He and Paula both thought it started off rough but got better towards the end. Simon thought it was better than alright, and told Syesha that she needed to get over her nerves.
Next up is Chikezie with his own twist on “She’s a Woman”. I’m a bit embarrassed to say that I’m not really familiar with this song. I’m sure my mother is very upset with me right now. I can’t say that I was a huge fan of the banjo beginning but from the perspective of someone who didn’t know the tune, I thought Chikezie performed the hell out of the song. That was a lot of fun. He gave it his all, no doubt. Awesome!! The judges all really, really loved it. Simon thought Chikezie really took control tonight.

Kristin Dos Santos to Mod PUSHING DAISIES Panel at Paley

We’ve been sitting on this one and had to wait until the official announcement was made, but today we can tell you that E!’s Kristin Dos Santos (and former Pushing Daisies guest star) will be the moderator for the PUSHING DAISIES panel at Paley Fest on Saturday.
Having attended a few Paley panels in the past, I can tell you that a good moderator is key to a good panel. Kristin is a big fan of the show and I know that she’ll do a fantastic job.
I can’t believe that this Saturday, Ducky and I will be in a room with the Pace, the Fuller, the Friel, the Chenoweth and all the rest of the cast and crew that make up this delicious show. It’s going to be so very exciting. Even more so for me now that Dan is coming along. And that wouldn’t be possible without the incredible generosity of a Pie Maker reader (and that’s all I can say…for now).
If you have any questions for the panel please feel free to leave them at ThePieMaker.com and we will do our best to get answers for you. There’s a slight chance that Paley might not be the only time we get to chat with the Daisies crew, so make sure you leave us all the questions you’ve been dying to ask.
