AMERICAN IDOL – Top 8 Girls Perform

The 80’s theme continued last night when the Top 8 ladies of American Idol took the stage. The guys had a great night on Tuesday so the ladies have really bring their game tonight. (Note: Yeah, I’m watching this on Thursday morning, so forgive me if I keep saying tonight…it was technically last night, I know.)
Asia’h Epperson is up first tonight with her take on Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance with Somebody”. Asia’s is one of my very favorite people in this competition. She has such a great personality that I want her to stick around. But as much as I hate to say it, I don’t think she has the vocal talent to stay. I think she’s a better singer than some of the other girls so she might make it into the Top 12, but I don’t think there is any way she can win this competition. Her performance last night was ok. Still straining a big. Not special. Randy thought is was hot. Paula thought she nailed it. Simon wasn’t as enthusiastic, and said at best it was a second rate Whitney. But he said it was good enough for Top 12.
I’m completely with the judges on Kady Malloy. In her interviews she has so much personality but to date when she takes the stage she’s dead in her eyes. Tonight she’s taking on “Who Wants to Live Forever” by Queen. Quite the ambitious song, and one that doesn’t really showcase her personality at all. Kady holds her own, especially in her upper register with the big notes, but in the smaller sections she fell flat. I wasn’t moved by her performance. Overall I think it was too much for her.She was too shaky. I have a feeling the judges are going to disagree with me. Let’s see. Randy was ok about it. Actually he made the same comment I did about the stronger verse weaker notes. Paula thought it was her best performance to date, but I don’t think it she was loving it. Simon also agreed it was better than last week, but commented on her massive lack of personality. Kady, if you are around next week why not try to watch ALL these tapes back and actually listen to the judges.
BIG BROTHER 9 Recap: Now This is How I Like My Big Brother

Now this is what I’m talking about BIG BROTHER. In the best episode of the season thus far, BIG BROTHER turned the game upside down and pressed the refresh button on the entire competition. After a sluggish and grating start to the game, I’m re-enthused after last night’s turn of events. But before we get there, let’s take care of the outstanding business at hand, mainly the ousting of some houseguests.
With Allison & Ryan and Sheila & Adam on the block, the houseguests didn’t seem particularly torn as to who they should oust. After being at the forefront of all kinds of drama, everyone was pretty much ready to say goodbye to Allison. And such is the rules of this season’s Big Brother, saying goodbye to Allison also meant adios to her partner Ryan.
BREAKING NEWS: NBC to Renew FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS!!!

EXCLUSIVE: NBC Picking Up ‘Friday Night Lights’ After Partnering On It With DirecTV
This is great news to that small but passionate audience for the best TV series you’re not watching. I’m told that Jeff Zucker, Marc Graboff and Ben Silverman had been searching for a way to pick up the critically acclaimed but low-rated Friday Night Lights that would still make financial sense. The answer came in a deal with DirecTV, now owned by John Malone’s Liberty Media. Clearly Malone is looking to offer exclusive content to his satellite subscribers to distinguish DirecTV from its rivals on a content basis as well as price. “It’s an innovative deal where NBC found a partner who will share costs and exhibition windows,” an insider explained to me. I’m a big fan of FNL so I say hooray.
I’ve got to say that this news has more than made my day. At first I was a bit confused by the wording and I thought perhaps was being picked up just for DirectTV subscribers, but the more I thought about it, that didn’t make any sense.
Wow, this is going to make the FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS panel at the Paley Festival in a few weeks a LOT more interesting.
CLEAR EYES. FULL HEARTS. CAN’T LOSE.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JULIE!! Before we get into today’s ‘What to Watch’ list I wanted to wish a very special birthday to one of my very best friends, Julie. Out of respect, I’m not going to share exactly which birthday Jules is celebrating, but all you need to know id this girl is damn fine at any age. Her birthday didn’t start off the best after being stranded in Cleveland for the night, but here’s to hoping things turn around as the day goes on. Jules – you’re the best and you know I love ya. And I’m sure if her were a real person and not a character, Tim Riggins would send his very best to you too.

Wednesday is a big night for reality TV at my place. I’m really excited to see all of the final collections from Christian, Rami and Jillian. I’ll be shocked if Christian isn’t named this season’s winner. The kid may be whiny and annoying but he can sure back it up. He’s been consistently fierce and fabulous all season and he gets my vote tonight.
American Idol | 8pm on Fox
The girls have a lot to live up to tonight as the guys handled 80’s night pretty well. Let’s hope someone takes on the classic like The Bangles ‘Walk Like an Egyptian’ or something from the Debbie Gibson ‘Electric Youth’ album – classic.
Big Brother 9 | 9pm on CBS
“Eviction Night”
Either Allison & Ryan or Adam & Sheila are going home tonight. Based on what we saw during the broadcast it looks like it will be Allison & Ryan. As much as I find Allison completely annoying, I’d love to see her and her partner stay and finally, finally get rid of the annoying Sheila and the freaky Adam. Any thoughts on who will be evicted tonight?
Project Runway | 1opm on Bravo
“The Finale”
After whittling the competition down from 12, the final remaining contestants head to the tents for one last challenge before season four’s winner can be announced and awarded the prize of $100,000 to start a personal clothing line.
What will YOU be watching tonight?

Although he wasn’t in my top two from last night, my Archuletaism is still going strong and I know many of you are still loving the boy. So for my last IDOL video of the day, here’s David Archuleta’s take on the Phil Collins classic “Another Day in Paradise”.

My other favorite performance of the night was David Cook’s rocking version of Lionel Richie’s “Hello”. If only he had brought a blind sculptor on to the stage.

American Idol – Top 8 Guys Perform

The remaining 8 guys are taking on the 80’s tonight. I’m actually scared to think what’s ahead of us in the next hour. I’m not a big fan of theme week, and in general I’m not a fan of the Idols taking on the 80’s. Maybe the guys will surprise me tonight. You never know.
Luke Menard starts us off with the iconic “Wake Me Up Before You Go Go” and the Beek didn’t quite pull it off. Does he have anything besides a falsetto? He looks good, but Luke Menard has yet to impress me. I can’t say that I found anything special about this performance. But it’s not up to me, it’s up to the judges and America. Randy wasn’t overly impressed but he didn’t slam it flat out. Paula is off her meds tonight, it’s going to be a long night. Simon of course hated it. That doesn’t surprise me. Simon went as far to tell Luke that he wasn’t going to win and he probably wouldn’t make it to the Top 12. Tell us how you really feel, Cowell. Eh, I’m with Simon on this one.
David Archuleta is playing a little piano tonight during Phil Collins’ “Another Day in Paradise”. His voice is like buttah. He’s so adorable and obviously talented. I’m not sure this is David’s best performance. I thought the song itself was a little boring, but he did the best he could with it. I’m not worried about this performance at all. The judges all like him, that much is obvious. Simon suggested that he remember his age and try to take on something a little more upbeat next week.

Fox’s new drama, New Amsterdam, doesn’t officially premiere until Monday, March 10th at 9pm, but you can catch a sneak peek of it tonight at 9pm following IDOL and then another sneak peek on Thursday at 9pm.
New Amsterdam tells the story of a New York homicide detective unlike any other. He is brilliant, mysterious, reckless, magnetic, unknowable. And he has a profound secret: he is immortal. Everything I look for in a man.
To get you geared up from the premiere, check out a few clips from the opening of the show. And then let the cast take you behind the scenes and share a little more on their characters, the setting and more on what the show is really about.
LOST Cast and Crew Answer Their/Your Questions
March 4, 2008 by Kath Skerry

TV Guide posted a very cool feature wherein the cast of LOST get to ask Executive Producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse some of the most burning questions about the show. Here’s just a few questions that Cuse and Lindelof avoided (come on did you really think we’d get a lot of answers.
Jorge Garcia (Hurley): “Is Ben in the coffin?”
Carlton Cuse: Come on, Jorge!
Damon Lindelof: Seriously! [To Cuse] He’s just trying to make sure it’s not him. It’s process of elimination. The next question is, “Is it Michael?” [Laughs]
Cuse: Before the end of the year, you will know who’s in the coffin.
Lindelof: And Jorge will definitely know before anyone else.
Yunjin Kim (Sun): “Is Aaron actually one of the Oceanic 6?”
Cuse: We’re not officially saying yet. We want the audience to engage in an active debate about who the Oceanic 6 are.
Lindelof: Following [Sayid’s] episode, we got several inquiries we weren’t anticipating about, ‘Is Ben a member of the Oceanic 6?’ He could’ve assumed the identity of somebody on the plane [with] no surviving family members. Who the actual six are is very much in play through the end of the [March 13th] episode. We’ll confirm or deny after that.
Josh Holloway (Sawyer): “Is it Jack’s turn with Kate?”
Cuse: [Laughs] That doesn’t sound very romantic, but I guess we get the underlying meaning. The Jack-Kate situation remains unresolved and probably will be for a while.
Lindelof: We will say we haven’t seen the last of Sawyer and Kate this season. Not by a long shot.
Henry Ian Cusick (Desmond): “It’s 2004 on the boat. What year is it in Penny’s world? What year is it when the Oceanic 6 get home?”
Lindelof: What’s fundamentally interesting about all the time-jumping is that we want it to make sense when people watch the show 10 years from now. We don’t want it to seem dated. So it’s not really about what year it is in the outside world, it’s about how many years have elapsed between the time that we’re watching on the island and the flash-forwards. That’s one of the fun games the audience is playing: “Gee, Aaron looks like he’s about 18 months old. What does that mean, and how old was he when they got off the island?”
Cuse: There are some growth issues when you go on or off the island. But I can’t say more about that.
Lindelof: You’ve already said enough.

A CHUCK/LOST Crossover?

Now that was just mean. Bad blogger. No, Chuck Bartowski and Sawyer won’t be exchanging witty barbs anytime soon, but “a little birdie” just informed me that LOST co-creator and Executive Producer Damon Lindelof will be the moderator at the upcoming CHUCK panel at this year’s Paley Festival on March 18th in L.A . How incredibly cool is that?
I’ll be sitting right up front and will bring you all the scoop from the cast and crew. So if you have any questions for the cast of CHUCK or creators Josh Schwartz and Chris Fedek, leave them here and I will do my best to get them answered.
Meanwhile, if you could all start donating to the GMMR bail fund it would be great. I mean during the course of the week I’m going to be in the same room as Zachary Levi and Lee Pace. Something is bound to go wrong.

From Variety:
“The X-Files” has been added to the lineup for the William S. Paley Festival. Session will take place March 26.
A late edition to the previously announced fest, “X-Files” creator Chris Carter and exec producer Frank Spotnitz will be on the panel to discuss the Fox series that ran from 1993-2002 and won three Golden Globes for best drama and an Emmy for actress Gillian Anderson.
Anderson and actor David Duchovny have not been confirmed to appear but may be announced at a later date.
The discussion will not only center on the series but the upcoming film as well, which is scheduled for released on July 25.
The Paley Festival runs March 14-27 at the Cinerama Dome in Hollywood.
I’m sure this news is going to send fans of the show in a complete tizzy. The X-Files is way too scary for me, but I know so many of you are die hard fans. If you can land a ticket and want to share your experience with GiveMeMyRemote.com let me know.
THE OFFICE Gets an Upgrade

Good news out of Scranton today. According to Michael Ausiello, NBC has ordered up a whopping 30 episodes of THE OFFICE for next season. A traditional season of TV has only 22 so this is certainly a vote of confidence from NBC. No word yet on how many of those thirty episodes will be an hour long. And if we learned anything from this season, I think it’s that the hour long eps of THE OFFICE are better kept for special occasions. Oh and we also learned that Jim and Pam are adorable together so don’t think of breaking them up anytime soon. Or else….
Production for the remaining 6 episodes of this season starts on Thursday, and the first new ep will air on April 10th. Praise the Lord!!
I’m heading to L.A. from March 14-20th of this month, so I’ll keep my eyes peeled for any Dunder Mifflinites walking around town.

Update on the Veto Ceremony….
Veto ceremony was held today. Matt and Natalie took themselves off the block. Josh and Sharon then nominated Sheila and Adam. Matt is seemingly playing both sides and there is no idea where his vote is going, but Natalie wants to eliminate Allison and Ryan. James and Chelsia are definitely voting out A/R, but Matt is throwing some doubt in the minds of Josh and Sharon about their vote.
They also got a note yesterday that read that in the coming weeks, when the houseguests hear a certain sound, they have to report to the living room immediately.
To find out what’s going on in the BB house, check out GMMR’s spoiler updates from the 24/7 live feed: BIG BROTHER Spoilers – Feed Alert. Keep checking back as new updates are added all the time.
