What to Watch…Tuesday, March 4, 2008

TV is just ok for me tonight. Since I was accidentally spoiled on who won the POV on Big Brother tonight, I’m not sure I’ll be watching. Of course there is Idol and I’m not going to miss that. Sadly, I’m most excited to watch the season 3 finale of The Office in reruns tonight on TBS. “Ok then…it’s a date” – it most certainly is.
What will YOU be watching tonight? And is anyone interested in stopping by and watching Idol with me at 8pm? I don’t feel like live blogging for myself.
American Idol | 8pm on Fox | New
Theme week continues if for no other reason than to annoy me. This week the top 8 guys are singing the tunes of the 80’s. I think it’s the riskiest decade of all for these guys. There are so many wrong songs to choose from. Live blogging might be an option for me tonight. Game time decision.
Big Brother 9 | 9pm on CBS | New
Tonight is the veto competition and Allison & Ryan and Matt & Natalie will be competing for veto and the right to stay in the house. If you want to find out who won tonight’s POV then check out GMMR’s Big Brother 9 spoilers from the 24/7 live feed.
One Tree Hill | 9pm on The CW | New
“Running to Stand Still”
Brooke takes Owen on a trip to New York City, where she unexpectedly runs into someone from her past. Elsewhere, Lucas and Nathan attend Dan’s parole hearing; and a major label shows interest in Mia.
New Amsterdam | 9pm on Fox | Series Debut
Debut: He has been immortal since he saved an Indian girl in 17th-century New Amsterdam, but it’s a curse to present-day NYPD detective John Amsterdam (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) since it comes with a condition: He can’t die, but he can’t love, either.
Jericho | 10pm on CBS | New
“Oversight”
Hawkins hears again from John Smith, his mysterious new contact who somehow knows everything he does, and who tells Hawkins that his capture by Major Beck (Esai Morales) is imminent, likely within 24 hours.
Also playing…
- The Biggest Loser | 8pm on NBC | New
- According to Jim | 9pm on ABC | New
- Carpoolers | 9:30pm on ABC | New
- The Office | 10pm on TBS | Repeat – “The Job Part 1”
- The Office | 10:30pm on TBS | Repeat – “The Job Part II”
Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles Finale Tonight

Believe it or not, tonight is the season finale of TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES. It seems like just yesterday I was bumming around the set trying to figure out if this show was going to be of any interest to me. Much to my surprise, it was…and still is. I’m all kinds of caught up in the world of Sarah and John Connor and their pesky robot pals.
In tonight’s two hour season finale (starting at 8/c on Fox) John and Derek at odds over whether Cameron can be trusted. Meanwhile, Cromartie continues tracking John, and Ellison learns he has a enemy within the FBI.
To get us in the mood, check out a few scenes from tonight’s episode. It’s looking good, and I’m not just talking about Brian Austin Green.
If you’ve fallen behind a bit, don’t fret, here’s a recap of the entire season in one minute.
Private Practice and Grey’s Anatomy Practice ‘Good Medicine’

GMMR reader and friend, Marissa, was lucky enough to attend Good Medicine – the Grey’s Anatomy/Private Practice benefit show this past weekend, and she kindly wrote up a recap of the night’s events. Sounds like it was an amazing night. But I’m with you Marissa…what’s up with Taye Diggs not singing?hey say you should learn at least one new thing every day.
The Friday one-night-only performance of Good Medicine, a concert put on by the actors from Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice to benefit their crews who had been impacted by the WGA strike, went above and beyond that and taught me several important lessons. One, people are freakin’ nuts for Sara Ramirez. Two, not only are the casts of Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice gorgeous and good actors, but a good many of them have vocal talent! Third, watching actors perform fanfiction is possibly one of the most hilarious things ever. I laughed so hard I had tears in my eyes. But let’s start at the beginning, shall we? Read more
CW Renews GOSSIP GIRL, SUPERNATURAL and Others

The CW announced early pickups of six series today, including GOSSIP GIRL, ONE TREE HILL, SUPERNATURAL, SMALLVILLE, AMERICA’S NEXT TOP MODEL, and EVERYBODY HATES CHRIS. All six series will return for the fall season.I know you Supernatural fans will be ecstatic and I’m happy for you. Of course the news that S, B, Lonely Boy and even Gossip Girl herself will be back has just made my day.
Seems like no news could be bad news for REAPER. The CW’s most buzz worthy show of last year failed to ever find an audience. Bret Harrison needs a break.
BIG BROTHER 9 Recap: Josh vs. Allison

You know it’s sad when I begging for the days of Evel Dick and Jen to be back in the BIG BROTHER house. What’s up with this season’s houseguests? They are sooo annoying. I like a little drama in the BB house, but it seems that’s all there is this season – drama. Is anyone even having any fun? As of late, I know I’m not.
I don’t blame the houseguests as much as I blame the Big Brother producers. They knew what they were doing. They knew that pairing up the couples was going to lead to conflict and sex – both good for ratings I suppose, but not so fun for those of us watching at home.

Project Buffy: A Buffy Newbie Takes on the Slayer
March 1, 2008 by Kath Skerry

I always vowed that when it came time to shut down GiveMeMyRemote.com for good that the very first show I would watch from start to finish would be BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER. As I stated in ‘Confessions of a Buffy Newbie‘, the WGA strike afforded me the opportunity to indulge in the show a little earlier than I expected. And just as everyone promised, I have fallen for this show…big time.I leisurely strolled through the first 6 episodes of the first season. Took about a month to finish all of season two. And then powered through season 3 in about a week. Then Ducky, the purveyor of the Buffy DVDs went ahead and took off on vacation leaving me in desperate need for season 4 and beyond. I was devastated.
Well the Duckster is back, and earlier tonight I swung by his house to pick up seasons 4-7. I’ve got just over 2 weeks to get through 4 seasons of BUFFY. Can it be done? Hell, yes. Come March 20th when I’m sitting in the front row of the BUFFY THE VAMPIRE REUNION at Paley Fest I will be a full fledge BUFFY watcher. I might not eat, sleep, or watch any other shows until then, but it will be well worth it in the end.
So join me on my journey to Sunnydale and beyond. I’m anxious to get started and see just what the Hellmouth has in store for Ms. Summers and friends.
I’m ready for the slayage….are you with me? I’ll be posting updates here on GMMR informing you of my progress and let you know where I am in my undertaking.
Project Buffy Countdown: I’ve got approximately 18 days, 12 hours, and 27 minutes to finish Seasons 4-7. That’s 88 episodes people. Five episodes a day….no problem.
I guess this is as good of time as any to be out of work, right?
P.S. I know you all love your BUFFY and I appreciate the support during PROJECT BUFFY but I beg of you…no spoilers!!!

POV Competition Results….
Feeds just came back after the Power of Veto Competition. The HOH (Josh and Sharon), the four nominees (Allison and Ryan, Matt and Natalie) and one couple by random draw (Sheila and Adam) participated in the competition. There was a puzzle of some sort included in the competition. Allison was a poor loser and is complaining that the rules weren’t clear to her, because Matt and Natalie won. Ceremony will be held on Sunday to determine who is being put on the block instead of Matt and Natalie, but all indications are that Allison and Ryan are being booted.
Project Runway: Tim Gunn & Christian Siriano’s Walkoff

Things were fierce when the fabulous Tim Gunn and PROJECT RUNWAY finalist (and come on, probably winner) Christian Soriano faced each other in a walk off high above New York City. Christian was the clear winner, but Heidi thinks it’s just because Tim was loose. And she knows just how to loosen him up.
Not Hitched to UNHITCHED…Yet
March 1, 2008 by Kath Skerry

I feel the premiere of Fox’s new comedy UNHITCHED (Sunday at 9:30pm est) has been a long time coming. Back in the day when it was called ‘The Rules for Starting Over’ it sparked my interest because at the time it was the vehicle that would get Rashida Jones off THE OFFICE and therefore Karen Filippelli away from Jim Halpert. That was enough of a reason for me to root for the show. But now that Karen is gone (at least for now), Jim and Pam are happily together, is there a reason for me to watch UNHITCHED. Yes…kind of.
UNHITCHED gives us a glimpse into the lives of four recently single friends living in Boston and all looking for love. Jack “Gator” Gately (Craig Bierko) is a successful businessman who is back on the dating scene while still dealing with the aftermath of his very recent divorce. Lucky for him, his three best friends are seem to be in the same boat. There’s Tommy (Johnny Sneed) who can’t seem to make marriage work after three tries. Freddy (Shaum Majumder), a recently divorced successful surgeon who can’t seem to get it together when it comes to the ladies. And finally, Kate (Rashida Jones), a divorce attorney who upon turning 30 finds herself single when her seven year engagement ends.
Trying to navigate the dating scene is though enough when you don’t have the Farrelly Brothers finding your dates. Yes, Peter and Bobby Farrelly known for their outrageous but with heart comedies such as “There’s Something About Mary” and “Stuck on You”, are Executive Producers and directed the pilot episode. Had it not been for the involvement of the brothers, I’m not sure UNHITCHED would have made it on to the Fox schedule, and because of their involvement, I’m not sure it will stick around.
