TV Tonight – Can You Handle It? What to Watch…April 24, 2008
April 24, 2008 by Kath Skerry
It’s an embarrassment of riches for TV fans on this wonderful Thursday. I’m getting choked up just thinking about all the fantastic TV that we are blessed with tonight. I’m not saying it’s going to be easy to take in all that’s offered (that’s what she said), but it’s a challenge that I’m willing to take on on behalf of TV lovers everywhere. I’m giddy with excitement.
Are you ready? Can you handle it? I’m not sure you can.
[Sidenote: NBC is being all kinds of annoying and running some of their shows a minute longer tonight which might interfere with recording things on other networks. Make sure you check your TiVos, DVRs, etc so you don’t miss anything tonight].
Ugly Betty | 8pm on ABC
“Twenty Four Candles”
Charlie’s surprise visit may spoil Betty’s birthday plans with Henry; Wilhelmina focuses her wicked ways on Daniel’s relationship with her sister, Renee (Gabrielle Union). [GMMR Note: I got a sneak peek at tonight’s episode, so I’ll back back later with a few more teasers. It was great to have Betty and her friends back]
My Name is Earl | 8pm on NBC
“Killerball″
Randy cares for the comatose Earl himself, much to Joy and Darnell’s chagrin. Randy also takes on an item on Earl’s karmic to-do list. Alyssa Milano guest stars.
Survivor: Micronesia – Fans vs. Favorites | 8pm on CBS
In a surprising twist, another castaway is voted off the island. Can you believe it? Crazy, right? If the promos are telling the true tale then it seems that the ladies are ruling the island. Let’s hope that they can keep it up without going all ‘Mean Girls’ on each other.
Smallville | 8pm on The CW
“Sleeper”
Clark searches for Brainiac (James Marsters), who is the only one who can reverse Lana’s condition; Chloe accidentally sets off alarms as she hacks into government computers while trying to find info to help Clark.
Scrubs | 8:30pm on NBC
“My Dumb Luck”
Dr. Cox struggles to diagnose a patient, and J.D. and Turk set out to one-up the veteran doctor by beating him to the punch. Elsewhere, Carla and Elliot try to persuade the hospital board to not force Kelso into retirement.
The Office | 9pm on NBC
“Night Out”
Michael and Dwight decide a trip to the Big Apple is in order. There, they hope to mingle with bigwig Ryan and his colleagues at the nightclubs. Back in Scranton, the staffers must work on Ryan’s pet Web-site project—on a Saturday no less. [GMMR note: The Office will be running at least a minute over tonight. This is the second warning I’m giving you. It’s not a threat, but don’t come crying to me if you miss a proposal. He he…just kidding.]
Supernatural | 9pm on The CW
“Ghostfacers”
Sam and Dean star in a paranormal reality show that takes them to an abandoned estate that turns into one of the most haunted places in the U.S. for one night each year. [GMMR note: Did you know that I’m trying to play catch up with Supernatural? Someone was kind enough to gift me with S1 & S2 on DVD and I’m slowly starting to check it all out].
Grey’s Anatomy | 9pm on ABC
“Where The Wild Things Are”
Meredith, Alex, Izzie and Cristina compete in a surgical contest, with Bailey judging; George and his new roommate, Lexie, adjust to their squalid apartment; and Callie finds a friend in Erica Hahn.
CSI | 9pm on CBS
“Drops’ Out”
Two murders that occur in the same apartment are linked to a jailed convict (Method Man), so the CSIs break him out of prison to help solve the crimes.
30 Rock | 9:31pm on NBC

High-profile corporate changes are in the air when chairman Don Geiss (Rip Torn) reveals that Jack will be his successor instead of Jack’s nemesis, Devin Banks (Will Arnett). But unforeseen health issues could change all that.
Lost | 10pm on ABC
“The Shape of Things to Come”
In an all new episode, Locke’s camp comes under attack, and Jack tries to identify a body that has washed ashore. Charles Widmore: Alan Dale.
Without a Trace| 10pm on CBS
“Deja Vu”
The team searches for a man who vanishes after waking from a three-year coma.
