What to Watch…Monday, April 28, 2008

Um, I’m just wondering if the networks could jam more shows into our Monday night lineup? It’s night like these that warrants me having two DVRS (that and my sick obsession with TV). It’s pretty overwhelming.
Normally my Monday morning excitement is all for THE BIG BANG THEORY and HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER, but tonight we also have GOSSIP GIRL and the looooong awaited return of HOUSE!! Have I mentioned how happy I am that the WGA strike is over?!
There’s no way I can watch it all tonight – some is just going to have to wait until the morning.
This begs the question…which shows are YOU most interested in talking about on GMMR tomorrow. Please leave a comment and let me know.
Gossip Girl | 8pm on The CW
“Desperately Seeking Serena”
As panic sets in for the juniors preparing to take their SATs, Serena has the added stress of dealing with the return of Georgina Sparks (Michelle Trachtenberg), someone from her bad-girl past. Meanwhile, Jenny decides to get a boyfriend.
The Big Bang Theory | 8pm on CBS
“The Nerdmabelia Scattering”
The guys buy a time-machine prop from a ’60s movie and Penny ridicules their preoccupation with toys, which forces Leonard to reexamine his life and maturity.
Dancing with the Stars | 8pm on ABC
A fifth week of performances. Did anyone see the kids from ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ perform the opening number on ‘Idol Gives Back’? If you did maybe you understand why I can’t sit through Priscilla Presley doing the fox trot. Well that and looking at her face. That’s just scary.
Bones | 8pm on Fox
“The Baby in the Bough”
A baby boy is discovered at the scene of his mother’s murder. While the Jeffersonian team carries out the investigation, the maternally challenged Brennan cares for the child.
How I Met Your Mother | 8:30pm on CBS
“The Goat”
Barney breaks the “Bro Code” in a matter involving Ted, and he has to deal with the consequences. Little Girl: Destiny Whitlock. Cindy: Megan McNulty. Carol: Alexis Krause.
House | 9pm on Fox
“No More Mr. Nice Guy”
House suspects that an ER patient with a sunny disposition has a bigger problem than was initially diagnosed. The reason: He thinks the patient is too nice. Meanwhile, House and Amber (Anne Dudek) spar over face time with Wilson. [GMMR: Check back soon for clips from tonight’s episode]
One Tree Hill | 9pm on The CW
“Life is Short”
Jamie celebrates his fifth birthday, and Lindsey returns to town to attend his party, giving Lucas hope for a reconciliation. Meanwhile, Brooke makes preparations in her life for a new baby.
Paradise Hotel 2 | 9pm on My TV
“The Return of Raheim”
I guess there’s no spoiler alert needed here. My least favorite of all the hotel guests comes back when Raheim makes a dramatic return to settle a score with a friend who betrayed him. Who is this friend? Is it James? I’m so confused
Samantha Who? |9:30pm on ABC
“The Gallery Show”
Sam asks a complete stranger named Craig to Todd’s photo gallery show in order to prove to Todd that she’s over him. But is Craig as much of a stranger as Sam thinks he is? Meanwhile, one of Todd’s photos on display is a shot of Sam.
The Bachelor | 10pm on ABC
Matt accompanies Amanda, Chelsea and Shayne to Barbados for outdoor adventures and (he hopes) overnight romance in his “fantasy suite.” The outdoor part (jet skiing, zip-lining and swimming with turtles) is exhilarating.
Medium | 10pm on NBC
“Car TRouble”
Joe surprises Allison by buying her a used car, but Allison’s subsequent visions warn of the vehicle’s unsavory past. Meanwhile, Allison grows unsettled upon meeting Joe’s sightly business partner, venture capitalist Meghan Doyle (Kelly Preston).

So much to watch, so little space on the TiVo. What will YOU be watching tonight? Whew, I’m wiped.
BOSTON LEGAL Takes on the Supreme Court
April 27, 2008 by Kath Skerry
BOSTON LEGAL is one of those shows which I rarely ever watch. It’s never really been on my radar. Despite the pleading of my father (who might be the show’s biggest fan), I never make it a priority. But at the same time, I must admit that whenever I have seen an episode (on the occasion that my parents saved it on their DVR in hopes I would give it a shot and talk about here on GMMR), I have thoroughly enjoyed it. The writing, the acting – different yet very good.
I first saw this clip of James Spader’s character, Alan Shore, addressing the Supreme Court the other day when visiting my friend’s site – SeriouslyOMG.com. Since then I’ve had over 15 readers send me the link as a reason why I should be watching the show. And they might have just convinced me.
Like it or not, this is some brilliant stuff.
Who Won BIG BROTHER 9? (Spoilers)
April 27, 2008 by Kath Skerry
Tonight was the season finale of BIG BROTHER 9 and either Ryan or Adam walked away as the winner with the prize of $500k. But before the winner was announced, the seven jurors had a lot to say.
The Jury Q&A…
The semi-live finale tonight was not easy on the two finalists. The questions from the former players in the jury house were rough. They questioned Ryan and Adam’s game play and integrity. I love it that every season the jurors forget that BIG BROTHER is all about scheming, lying and back stabbing. James, who was one of the strong players this season was probably the most fair of all the jurors. Chelsia continued to look like an immature asshat seemingly basing her vote on Ryan’s personal relationship with his girlfriend Jen. Um, what does that have to do with the game. Josh was douchey as usual and a little hard on Adam whom I thought was going to cry at least ten times during the jury inquiry.
The Voting…
One by one, the 7 jurors cast their final vote. The houseguest with the most votes becomes the winner of BIG BROTHER 9.
First up was Matty who told both guys that they were taking them to Vegas. Natalie is going with her gut instinct. Joshua is voting for the person who played the competitions well. Sharon gave her vote to whom she felt was most loyal in the game. Next up was Sheila who said that after the jury Q&A her decision was easy to make. James said he hopes the winner parties away the money. Chelsia was the last to vote and said that she hopes each of the guys stick with what they said at the jury Q&A.
My guess for the final vote?
- Team Adam: Matty, Natalie, James, Chelsia
- Team Ryan: Joshua, Sheila, Sharon
Find out who won after the jump…

For me it’s all about the season finale of BIG BROTHER and staying with the family theme – BROTHERS & SISTERS. Will Rebecca find out the big news tonight? Will she immediately jump into bed with her “brother”. I’m so intrigued.
Big Brother 9 | 8pm on CBS | Season Finale
Tonight’s the night! The jury members question Adam and Ryan and then in a live vote the winner of BIG BROTHER 9 is crowned. I really have no idea how the jury will vote, but I think it’s going to be Adam that takes home the big prize. And by that I mean…TEAM RYAN!!!

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA Recap: “Escape Velocity”

Title: “Escape Velocity”
Original Airdate: 4/25/08
GMMR Recapper: Jo
39,675. Colonial Fleet sans one Cally Tyrol. Chief leads the memorial service but he has that patented Crazy Chief look his in eye. He grabs Tory and Tigh as they try to leave, but Tigh casts him a threatening look out of one eye. Chief is not adjusting well to Cally’s suicide, as Tory spins it. He makes a critical error while repairing Racetrack’s raptor that nearly gets her killed. Then he yells at Adama who is forced to demote him. I liked it better when Adama just clocked him.
Tory has no guilt, which to me is less about airlocking Cally and more about her ability to be within three feet of Baltar without gagging. Col. Tigh consults Caprica Six about how to turn off guilt. He keeps seeing his wife Ellen. Six is drawn to him but she doesn’t quite know why, so she smacks him around.

MY BOYS is returning to TBS for its season two premiere on June 12th and I couldn’t be more excited. I’m a big fan of this show. If you haven’t checked it out, see if you can play a little catch up between now and the S2 premiere. I think it’s well worth your time.So what’s in store for the P.J. and the boys? I’ve been able to uncover a little bit of dirt. I still don’t know who was on the plane, but I’m working on it.
A few MY BOYS spoilers after the jump.

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA – Set Your TiVos
April 25, 2008 by Kath Skerry
I was just heading out for the night when I realized my DVR wasn’t properly set to record BATTLESTAR GALACTICA tonight. As great as Hulu.com is, I’ve had to watch the last two episodes online and that is so not the best way to watch one of the best shows on TV. Especially when there are only so many left to cherish.
Battlestar Galactica | 10pm on SCiFi
“Escape Velocity”
Humans and Cylons continue to battle each other because of their different belief systems and deities; Gaius Baltar (James Callis) causes further strife between the groups about religious freedom when he talks more about his own beliefs.
The Morning After: ‘Betty’ ‘Rock’ ‘Scrubs’ ‘Lost’ ‘Anatomy’
April 25, 2008 by Kath Skerry
Filed under 30 Rock, Grey's Anatomy, Lost, Scrubs, TV News, Ugly Betty
It’s Friday morning and I’m still feeling overwhelmed by last night’s TV extravaganza. There’s so much to discuss yet it’s sunny and beautiful outside. What to do, what to do? I know! Put together one long ass post that says nothing at all significant or insightful about any of the shows but still gets it done and out of the way so I can go back outside and work on my tan. Deal? (Yeah, I’m selfish like that…sue me).
Read on as we talk about last night’s episodes of UGLY BETTY, 30 ROCK, SCRUBS, LOST and GREY’S ANATOMY.
Ugly Betty
Betty was back but her birthday was bamboozled. Don’t you always hate when your boyfriend’s Baby Mama comes to town? So annoying. Good thing Gio was there to pick up the shattered mess Henry left behind. Color me confused, but didn’t we see this same storyline play itself out when it was Henry and Walter fighting over Betty? Gabrielle Union reprised her role as Wilhemenia’s sexually manipulative sister (Gabby you should talk to your agent about being typecast). She and Daniel are moving in together. Snooze. Mama Meade and Alexis are working together on a new magazine with all the typical Meade family drama. Snooze again. Um, I love this show and all, but I’ve waited months and months from some classic Marc and Amanda and I feel gipped (although Marc discovering Daniel’s undies was fantastic). I like a little more humor in my telenovela’s. Last night was too soap opera-ish for my taste.
KDS over at E! reported yesterday that Rebecca Romijn’s role has been reduced from series regular to recurring next season. As someone who is usually bored with the Meade family, I’m actually ok with this. I still wonder what happened during the WGA strike to spur this change.
30 Rock
Like it or not, there is going to be an OFFICE spinoff. So I need NBC to announce that the spinoff is going to star Will Arnett. If it’s not then I need NBC to tell me that he will become a series regular on 30 ROCK. See I just can’t not have Will Arnett on my TV every week. It’s simple as that. The funny quotient on 30 ROCK is normally pretty high, but when Will shows up as Devon Banks I just know it’s going to be special.
MOONLIGHT Returns Tonight – Get Caught Up

You know that feeling when you wake up on a Saturday morning and you get out of bed thinking it’s Friday and you have to go to work only to realize that oh my god it’s not Friday, it’s Saturday, and you can go back to bed? Yeah? Well that’s my long winded way of explaining the feeling I had this morning when I realized that MOONLIGHT is back with an all new episode tonight. So excited!! (And in case you were confused, today is Friday, so get your ass out of bed and get to the office).
Having not yet been picked up for a second season, MOONLIGHT needs all the viewers it can get during the remaining episodes of this season. So if you have a Nielsen’s box would you mind switching over to CBS at 9pm tonight? You don’t have to watch the show, although I think you’d enjoy it…just throw on your TV and let the ratings Gods know you’re watching. Please? For me?
It’s been a looong time since we’ve had a new episode. Lucky for us, CBS put together a little reminder of where Mick, Beth, Josef (oh Jason Dohring how I’ve missed you) were when we last saw them. WARNING! The following video contains spoilers for tonight’s episode. But it also contains footage of a shirtless Alex O’Loughlin. Life is full of tough choices.
Tonight on Moonlight…
Beth is kidnapped by the person suspected of murdering her boss, and Mick must decide whether to jeopardize his newfound mortality in order to rescue her.
Is anyone else as excited as I am?
A ‘Night Out’ with THE OFFICE
April 25, 2008 by Kath Skerry
Tonight, on a very special episode of THE OFFICE we learn the consequences of drug abuse, inappropriate touching, and being locked in a room with your co-workers with no chance for escape. Thankfully this is THE OFFICE so all those ‘life lessons’ come in a hilarious 30 minutes of unbridled joy.
Previously on Varsity Blues…
In last night’s episode, Ryan forces the Scranton branch (and my guess, only the Scranton branch) to come into work on a Saturday to input their recent sales into Ryan’s flailing corporate website in an effort to cover up his missteps. But when Ryan brags to a desperately horny and lonely Michael about all the hot women in NYC, the last thing on Michael’s mind is the paper business. Then again, when is the paper business ever on Michael’s mind?
Michael and Dwight head to NYC to go clubbing with an unsuspecting Ryan, while Jim launches a plan to have everyone work late to avoid coming in on the weekend. Neither endeavor goes quite as planned. In NYC Michael spends his night getting shot down by women while Dwight gets all the play, and he ends his evening by dragging a coked-up Ryan home. But sadly for Michael, this isn’t necessairly a bad night. Back in Scranton, Jim’s lack of planning results in all the employees being stuck in the building at the mercy of Hank, the cranky security guard.
Best.Night.Ever….
I think Michael Scott said it best when he said, “Best.Night.Ever”. As a die hard fan since season one, I think I have earned the right to recognize and criticize THE OFFICE when its not on its game. But I have to tell you, these three post-strike episodes we’ve been treated have been some of the best of the season. Much like “Dinner Party” and “Chair Model”, tonight’s “Night Out” was sharp, dark, and so multi-layered that I know it’s going to only get better with repeat viewings. And the uncomfortable, ‘hide-your-head-in-your-hands-omg-he-did-so-not-just-do/say-that’ moments that have come to define THE OFFICE were brilliant and plentiful.
There were all kinds of spectacular messes last night, so settle in – grab some coffee (you’ll need it) and let’s get to it.
John Krasinski on the Set of His New Movie (UPDATED)

Yeah, he’s getting to be a big star now, but I’m not ready to stop supporting my boy John Krasinski. Here’s a first look at John on the set of his next movie. Just finishing up on THE OFFICE, Krasinski is in Connecticut filming the yet to be titled Sam Mendes project. John will be starring along with Maya Rudolph, Toni Collette, Allison Janney, and others in this comedy about a couple (Krasinski and Rudolph) who are looking for a place to settle before their baby is born. The movie was written by Dave Eggers and his wife, Vendela Vita and is being directed by Sam Mendes.
Sources say the majority of the movie will be shot in and around Connecticut (at least for the next few weeks).
Two lucky fans got the chance to meet John while visiting Wilton, CT this week. So jealous!

Tina Fey (or is it Liz Lemon) answers questions from fans in this funny video from NBC.com. You know, I always though Tina Fey was funny but I’m not sure I would have ever predicted this level of success. A kudos for smart and funny girls everywhere. Go on with your bad self, Liz Lemon.
Oh and if Kenneth is more your speed…well, then that says a lot about you. Check out Kenneth the Page as he gets revenge on Dougie from props.

THE OFFICE Thursday on Give Me My Remote

This past week I learned an extremely valuable life lesson – Never, and I mean NEVER go away on vacation again. Well at least not if said vacation means you are going to have to miss an episode of THE OFFICE. Seriously, I miss one episode in four seasons and THAT is the one I missed? It’s almost cruel if you ask me. But I’m back, and I’m soooo ready for tonight.
I don’t think anyone around here needs anything extra to get excited for tonight’s episode, but in the spirit of ‘THE OFFICE Thursday’, I thought we could have a little fun. First up is the oh so important matters of the heart. Weigh in on where you the OFFICE romances are heading. Then take out trivia challenge and see just how well you know the cast of THE OFFICE.
Tonight on THE OFFICE…
Night Out | 9:00-9:32pm on NBC

Supernatural | 9pm on The CW
“Ghostfacers”
Sam and Dean star in a paranormal reality show that takes them to an abandoned estate that turns into one of the most haunted places in the U.S. for one night each year.
