Let’s Get Ready for the Return of GOSSIP GIRL
April 14, 2008 by Kath Skerry

GOSSIP GIRL and all its deliciousness is returning one week from today. Yup, next Monday S, B, Lonely Boy, Chuck, Nate, little J and all the rest (even Vanessa and her hideous gold earrings) will be back and once again letting us be voyeurs into their little yet fascinating world.
It seems that our gang have been up to their old tricks since we last saw them a few months ago. And by old tricks I certainly mean acting way beyond their years and dabbling in just enough naughty to keep it all very, very interesting. You don’t believe me?
What can we expect from the first episode back? How about a leisurely (or not so leisurely) saunter out of the closet for one Upper East Sider. I know who it is…but I’ll never tell. And watch out for the hotness that is Michelle Trachtenberg to come in and stir up a lot of trouble as Georgina Sparks, a not so friendly face that has the dirt on what Serena was up to during her time away at boarding school. I’m expecting a hot mess of scandal when the show return on April 21st.
To get you amped up for the show’s return, I’ll be posting some new GOSSIP GIRL dirt all this week. Check back soon for vids from Executive Producer Josh Schwartz as well as some excerpts from the recent GOSSIP GIRL panel at the Paley Festival.
xoxo,

It’s Monday!! Yeah, the weekend is over and most of you are heading back to work and/or school. But just think – you get to come home tonight and watch some pretty kick ass TV. Doesn’t that make it all worth it? Almost?
Check out a few of tonight’s highlights. I triple dog dare you to tell me there’s nothing to watch on TV tonight.
The Big Bang Theory | 8pm on CBS
“The Jerusalem Duality”

Check out a scene from tonight’s episode…
Dancing with the Stars | 8pm on ABC
A fifth week of performances. Did anyone see the kids from ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ perform the opening number on ‘Idol Gives Back’? If you did maybe you understand why I can’t sit through Priscilla Presley doing the fox trot. Well that and looking at her face. That’s just scary.
Bones | 8pm on Fox
“The Man in the Mud”
When a motorcycle racer’s remains are discovered in a national park, Brennan and Booth hunt for his killer. But just when they’re getting traction, another rider’s seemingly accidental death throws the case off course.
How I Met Your Mother | 8:30pm on CBS
“The Chain of Screaming”
When Marshall is verbally berated by his boss, he questions whether the decision to work for a big corporate law firm was the best career move.
Here’s a glimpse at tonight’s episode to get fired up…
New Amsterdam |9pm on Fox | Season Finale

“Echoes, Silence, Patience and Grace”
Lucas tries to deal with being left at the altar, while Haley and Nathan handle the fallout from Jamie’s abduction and recovery. Elsewhere, Brooke looks into adoption; and an old friend visits Peyton.
Paradise Hotel 2 | 9pm on My TV
“Blast from the Past”
The original players target Myrna after she sent Tanya packing, but in a surprising twist, a familiar face returns to Paradise Hotel and shakes things up. Seeing that it’s a guys weeks to leave Paradise, I’m thinking a guy is going to be coming back. The obvious thought would be Raheim as he’s the only guy that could come back and stir up trouble. Uh, I hope it’s not him.
Samantha Who? |9:30pm on ABC
“The Boss”
Sam gets a marriage proposal from the wealthy co-owner of the real-estate company (Timothy Olyphant) and doesn’t know how to respond. She does know that Andrea is infatuated with him, and fears this could jeopardize their friendship.
The Bachelor | 10pm on ABC
The six remaining bachelorettes arrive in Sun Valley, Idaho, and promptly get into a snowball fight with Matt, who takes one of them on a sleigh ride and then to a candlelit dinner. Later, there’s a group ski date (and skiing lessons from Matt).
Medium | 10pm on NBC

On Wednesday morning I’m boarding a plane and heading to the island of Nevis for almost a week. Be jealous…be very jealous. As excited as I am to go, I’m sad about leaving GMMR behind without many updates for the week. As much as I love you all and love my TV, I’m not really planning on spending much, if any, time watching the old tube next week.
But I don’t want to leave you without updates and a place to talk about your favorite shows. So that’s why I’m opening up GMMR to some of YOU.
If you’re interested in writing a short review of your favorite show and having me post it here on GMMR then let me know by leaving a comment on this post. Tell me which show you’d like to talk about on GMMR and I might just be in touch to call on your help.
More details after the jump…
THE OFFICE Throws a ‘Dinner Party’

I wish I had this really incredible tale of a life affirming weekend filled with friends, booze, laughter and love (not necessarily in that order) as an excuse for it being Sunday night and me just getting around to posting my thoughts on this week’s episode of THE OFFICE. But sadly I can’t. It’s was more of a mixture of some personal stuff, boring errands and laziness. I know it’s Sunday and you all probably don’t care what I thought of this week’s show, but what the hell – I have some time to kill.
Before I share my thoughts I think we need to get something out of the way: “THE OFFICE IS BACK!! SWEET GOD ABOVE THANK YOU!!!” Ok, now that that’s done we can move on to my incredibly long and self indulgent post on this week’s episode.
It’s been over 5 months since we last saw our favorite Dunder Mifflinites and it was nice to have them back. Well, some of them anyway. After such a long hiatus I was a little bummed that we didn’t have an office-centric episode that allowed us to catch up with all of our old friends. A girl shouldn’t have to go that long without seeing a little Toby. But, we did get to spend some time with some of the more dysfunctional members of the office, and they certainly didn’t disappoint.
I think we all knew that Jan and Michael didn’t necessarily have the healthiest relationship, but it seems the events of the deposition left them in a dark place. And what a better way to deal with your relationship issues then to invite co-workers over to share in your misery! And miserable it was.
I’m usually the first one to complain when people compare the U.S. and the U.K. version of THE OFFICE, but in this particular case I really couldn’t come up with another example to relate just how very cringeworthy this episode was. In my book no one has ever done the cringe better than Ricky Gervais and his cohorts at Warnham-Hogg Paper Company, but “Dinner Party” was very U.K’ish in just how uncomfortable I was from beginning to end. And I liked it!
Julianne Hough Puts “That Song in My Head”

If her Barbie doll looks and killer dance moves aren’t enough, then I have another reason for you to hate Dancing with the Stars champ, Julianne Hough – the girl can sing. We aren’t talking the next Babs, but she’s not Paris Hilton either.
Her debut single, “That Song in My Head” maybe not be poetic or overly complicated but it’s catchy and sometimes that’s enough. And sometimes it’s enough to just look as smokin’ hot as Julianne does. I’m interested in hearing more from her to see if she has the goods (and by good I mean voice…don’t be dirty).
Dedicated to Jim Mosby and his love of all things Julianne.

Title: “Six of One”
Original Airdate: April 11, 2008
GMMR Recapper: Jo
Previously, Starbuck pulled a gun on Roslin. Ruh Roh.
39,676. The Four meet in a closet and decide to figure out who number Five is. Tyrol thinks Baltar could help so Tigh nominates Tory to um, interrogate, him. Baltar confronts Tory for spying on him and we get a wonderful reappearance of Figment!Baltar. I like that Baltar better. This of course confuses the real Gaius, but his Figment convinces him to talk to Tory. But Baltar doesn’t have a clue who’s a cylon or not, but he’s too busy buying into his own religion.
Over on the Cylon Baseship, the Hybrid is rattling off one part poetry, one part baseship operational instrucstions, and one part jibberish. Six, Leoben, and Eight go to Cavil to discuss the Final Five. But this is against Cylon rules. They site the raider’s recognition that the Final Five are in the Colonial Fleet. Cavil wants to ‘fix’ the Raiders to prevent them from learning more. The vote is tied up, 3 to 3, because last year Cavil boxed D’anna. But then Boomer splits the Eight vote and Cavil proceeds. Six retaliates by removing the inhibitor chips from the Centurions. The Centurions blow away a couple of Simons, Dorals and a Cavil. No worries, they’ll be back in goo next week. WOW. The divison, the in-fighting, the backstabbing. Oy the cylons are acting so….human…

It’s here. It’s really here. Tonight THE OFFICE returns to NBC with an all new episode. I don’t know about you but I gave up counting down the days and even the hours. I’m down to watching each minute pass by until the cold open begins tonight at 9pm.
The online community for THE OFFICE is amazing and I know how excited all OFFICE fans are for the return of our favorite comedy. I didn’t know what to do to properly celebrate the return so I thought we all could celebrate together by sharing our very favorite OFFICE memory. Doing so just might win you Seasons 1-3 of THE OFFICE on DVD.
GMMR was just gifted with three sets S1-3 on DVD to celebrate the return of the show. On behalf of OFFICE fans*, I’m donating two of the three sets to U.S. soldiers fighting abroad, because really does anyone need a laugh more than those men and women? But that leaves one set of DVDs for YOU.
If you’d like a shot at winning the first three seasons of THE OFFICE on DVD then just leave a comment sharing your very favorite moment of THE OFFICE. And if you already own all three seasons, well don’t let that hold you back. You can still win them and share them with a friend, or donate them.
Let’s start celebrating the return of THE OFFICE right now!!
Update: Don’t forget that Greg Daniel and the writers from THE OFFICE will be live blogging after the show (9:30pm EST) at NBC.com. Submit questions for Greg and team here.
(NBC.com posted the cold open to tonight’s show. If I were you I’d muster all your strength and NOT watch it. Save yourself. Oh and if you do watch it, please don’t discuss it in the comments.)
Won’t be FORGETTING SARAH MARSHALL Anytime Soon
April 10, 2008 by Kath Skerry
Filed under 30 Rock, How I Met Your Mother, Kristen Bell
Courtesy of GMMR reader, Jen, I was able to catch a sneak peek of FORGETTING SARAH MARSHALL last night here in Boston. I gotta tell ya, it was hands down one of the funniest movies I have seen in a long time. I’m talking laugh out loud, tears in my eyes funny.Jason Segel (How I Met Your Mother) wrote an amazing script and really held the movie for the entire two hours. All the actors, both lead and supporting, were spot on perfect. The movie was nasty, gross, showed a lot of skin (I’m not sure if I’m ever going to watch HIMYM again and not think that yes, I saw Marshall completely naked…a few times), but at the same time it was never without heart…a lot of heart.
Kristen Bell, Mila Kunis, and Russell Brand were all fantastic in their roles. As were the supporting cast which included many familiar faces including Seth Rogen in a hilarious bit and SNL’s Bill Hader who was one of the best treats of the movie – he was so damn funny. 30 ROCK fans will just about die when they experience the comedic genius that is Jack McBrayer in this movie. Think Kenneth the Page, but sexually active. Hilarious!! Oh and the always perfect Paul Rudd did NOT disappoint.
The audience erupted in applause a few times during the movie and of course at the end. Which, by the way, if you do see the movie do NOT leave when the credits start rolling. You’ll miss one final scene that alone is worth the price of admission.
Movie critic I’m not, but I really just had to tell you all how great this movie was. I’m definitely going to see it again when it hits theaters on April 18th.
Band from TV & Teri Hatcher on “Idol Gives Back”

Um, hmm, yeah – Mom always said that if you don’t have anything nice to say then you shouldn’t say anything at all so…
Teri was fronting Band from TV (whom I love). For those of you who don’t know (and were therefore probably quite confused last night), Band from TV is a band made up of a few familiar faces from the world of television. The group, which consists of Greg Grunberg (Heroes), Bob Guiney (The Bachelor), Bonnie Sommerville (Boston Legal), Hugh Laurie (House), James Denton (Desperate Housewives) and Jesse Spencer (House) and Teri Hatcher (Desperate Housewives) performs all their gigs in support of charities. A wonderful idea and a great band…if they could only put Hatcher on backup vocals.
SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE on “Idol Gives Back” (Video)

Filed under American Idol, So You Think You Can Dance
How crazy cool was the opening number on last night’s “Idol Gives Back“. Forget about the IDOL contestants, it was all my favorite SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCErs owning the stage. I’ve watched it, oh, about five times so far and I still can’t get enough of it. It was a hellahot routine and if nothing else I hope it gets a few more people interested in checking out SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE when it premieres on Fox on May 22nd.
So for your viewing pleasure here’s last night Idol opener…
What a refreshing change it is to see the IDOL contestants singing something fun and contemporary. I think the show needs to revisit the Top 40 theme week soon, because these kids have the voices to pull it off.
Name the SYTYCDers. There were just too many for me and they were all moving so fast. I know missed a bunch, but I know I saw: Benji, Lacey, Travis, Danny, Dmitry, Ashlee, Pasha, Cedric, Donyelle, Lauren, Nick and a few S1ers (who I didn’t know), Hok & my love Dom (and the Six Step Crew?). They were all amazing, but the B-Boys at the end were out of control.
Oprah and Tina Fey BFFs on 30 ROCK?

Who wants to be best friends with Oprah? I do! I do! (Well I’d like to at least be friends with her bank account.) But I’m not the only one looking for Ms. Winfrey’s friendship. Liz Lemon is looking for a new bestie and Oprah just might be her gal.
Tina Fey recently told press outlets, “I still want Oprah to play my best friend…and I don’t know what I need to do to make that happen.” Well maybe all you have to do is ask.
According to reports from E!’s Watch with Kristin, Oprah told Tina that she’s “definitely interested” and alluded that their people should talk.
Love or hate Oprah, Tina Fey can make anyone funny…well except Jerry Seinfeld earlier this season.
