Upfront ’08 Memories – Meeting Joshua Jackson
May 19, 2008 by Kath Skerry
By now you all probably know that last week I was in NYC for the network upfronts. For a TV fan like me it was a pretty amazing experience. Lots of TV scoop, free booze and TV stars just walking around like they were normal people. Ha ha. It was a great week. A very special thanks to my friend Kelly who not only let me crash with her for the week but hooked me up big time. Love you Kells!
Over the week I’m going to be sharing some of my favorite memories and pictures from the Upfronts 2008. You’re going to be seeing my mug a lot, so I’ll just go ahead and apologize in advance for that.
I was thinking that I might as well start with my favorite moment from the Upfronts…meeting Joshua Jackson.
My TV obsession started with DAWSON’S CREEK and for me The Creek was all about Pacey Witter. I always thought Joshua Jackson was a fantastic actor and I’m glad he’s coming back to TV in FRINGE which looks so promising. Joshua is at the top of my list of TV boyfriends, but until last Thursday I had never had the opportunity to actually meet him.I had been hoping that Joshua would be at the Upfronts. I figured since he’s the star of one of Fox’s new shows there was a good chance, but you just never know. But as the curtain pulled back and Fox’s stars took to the stage, there he was. I can only imagine the silly ass grin that took over my face at that point in time.
After the Fox presentation we headed over to Wollman Rink for the party. From the moment I entered my eyes didn’t stop roaming. The party was huge. There were celebs in every corner of the room but I was determined to find Joshua. The cast of FRINGE was supposed to arrive at 7:30pm so I was poised and ready to go. And then it happened. I saw him. He was there, just a few feet away. A mixture of excitement and white wine has me a little fuzzy on the sequence of events, so I don’t know if I spotted Joshua first or if we ran into FRINGE creator and all around TV God, J.J. Abrams first. But I do know that I had a fantastic moment to talk with J.J. and just simply thank him for his shows and wish him well with FRINGE. J.J. mentioned how excited they were to have landed Josh, and that’s when my friend Kelly (bless her heart) jumped in and told J.J. that I was a big fan of Josh. By that time another FRINGE Executive Producer joined the conversation and both pointed out that Josh was standing right behind us, and before I knew it they were bringing me over to Josh. What!? I thought I would have a minute to fix my makeup or at least down a 3rd glass of champagne before I met Josh Jackson for the first time. But no…there he was, shaking my hand.
Kelly, again be the awesome person she is, was snapping away as I was talking to Joshua, just so I would have a record of the moment. I can’t say that I remember exactly what we were talking about because it’s all a bit of a blur. He did tell me that he’s a big fan of TelevisionWithoutPity.com, I remember that. Oh and we also talked about his almost role on GREY’S ANATOMY and I mentioned how long before he was cast I had suggested it (numerous times) on GMMR. There was some talk of FRINGE possibly filming in Boston as the show is set there. But beyond that, I’m at a loss. I was trying to be in the moment, but me trying to not be a fangirl won out and before I knew it some other girl was trying to get his attention. I considered kicking her in the shins but then I remembered that I should probably let him talk to other people to. (Like my friends Kelly and Jessica in the pics below).
So that’s that. That was my BIG moment meeting Joshua Jackson. Sorry for all the self indulgent details, but I guess I wanted a record of the event too. The older I get the more the memories go.
For those of you interested in FRINGE, check back later this week as I have a few videos and a bunch of new pics from what’s sure to be a huge hit for Fox come this Fall.

big sigh… 🙂
I’m so happy for you Kath. Jealous as hell, but happy. 🙂
Man… I am so jealous of you (even more so)! What a cute picture you two took and don’t worry about the self indulgent details – that’s the GOOD stuff we like to read!
bawahahahahahahahahaha! At the 3 pics of you 2 talking. I can totally hear the little voice in your head…OMG OMG OMG!!!!I’m talking to Pacey Witter!
Kar – pretty much. That and OMG I have call my sister and tell her this right now! Ha ha.
Actually, I remember thinking…as much as you might want to, DO NOT mention Dawson’s Creek
How cute do you two look together? And I am so proud you didn’t bring up the Creek even if it was ripping around in your head the whole time!
Wow … thanks so much for sharing those juicy details with us, Kath! I am now living through you, as it’s been one of my goals to meet Josh too … but that’s from wayyy back in his Mighty Ducks days!
I would definitely have a hard time NOT mentioning Dawson’s Creek!! I don’t really understand why so many actors have issues talking about older shows (i.e. David Boreanaz and Angel/Buffy) … they were fantastic in those roles, and should be recognized for them still! I guess maybe it’s like dwelling on the past for them, though.
Ok seriously….How did you not fall over dead? I would have needed CPR if he looked at me the way he’s looking at you in the first picture. What an intense sexy look.
I’m so happy he’s going to be back on my TV screen every week again. Fringe looks really promising.
OMG! Joshua Jackson is totally in my top 5 tv boyfriends! You are so lucky!! Thanks for sharing it with us!!!
You look so pretty! Didn’t you say that was a bad picture of you? I didn’t think so, i thought your hair looked great!
Wow!
Looking good Kath. Glad you finally realized your life-long dream (Ok, maybe that’s going a bit too far, but definitely a big moment). Congrats.

Check out the new Fringe trailer – it’s pretty bad ass. You kinda have to hunt for it as it is an Easter egg.
