A Veronica Mars Reunion…Francis Capra Joins HEROES

June 9, 2008 by
Filed under Heroes, Heroes Spoilers, Veronica Mars

Francis Capra joins the cast of HEROES

VERONICA MARS favorite bad boy (no, not Logan Echolls…the other bad boy – Weevil) is joining HEROES.  According to TV Guide, Francis Capra who is best known for his role as  Eli ‘Weevil’ Navarro on the dearly departed VERONICA MARS will be joining the NBC series as an one of those pesky evil doers.  The show is keeping tight lipped on details about that character but we do know that his name is Jesse and he will cross paths with Peter Petrelli (Milo Ventimiglia).

It’s no secret that the cast and the writers of HEROES were big fans of VM.  I think we’ll see Jesse and Elle (Kristen Bell) share at least a few on-screen moments together.  I don’t think they (or we) will be able to resist.

Now I know what you’re thinking.  MOONLIGHT is over so why not throw Jason Dohring into the mix?  That boy knows how to play evil.  But I think it’s a little too weird.  I’m all for having Jason back on my TV every week, but it’s just too soon for him to star along side Kristen Bell.  Someday though…someday.

Are you VERONICA MARS fans excited about having Weevil back on TV?  Do HEROES fans even care?

Wanna Watch THE MOLE With Me Tonight?

The Mole on ABC

I have the second episode of THE MOLE at my fingertips…just a few clicks away, but I’m not going to watch it. I’d rather wait until tonight’s broadcast and watch it on my nice big HDTV screen rather than on my dinky little computer. Yes, that’s how much I love this show.

So if you’re watching THE MOLE at 10pm tonight, stop by GMMR and feel free to comment along and let us know who YOU think might be THE MOLE. I’m going to be posting clues, facts and notes throughout. Hopefully I won’t be the only one playing along at home.

Random MOLE watching…

Up Hill Battle…Mark & Kristen
Take a 2 person bike up the hill and beat the ‘Goal Oriented’ team and win exemption.

Goal Oriented….Everyone else – Bobby, Paul, Craig, Victoria, Nicole, Ali, Alex Clay & Liz
Beat a soccer team and get up the hill, before the ‘Up Hill Battle’ team and put $35k in the pot

  • Why isn’t Mark playing soccer? Isn’t he a soccer coach?
  • The little kids soccer players are good, really good. But Nicole can’t stop one goal?
  • Bobby is this tall lanky guy and he can’t seem to be walk more than 5 minutes?
  • Craig kicked the ball into his own goal, but I just think that he’s a bad sportsman, not The Mole
  • Bobby and Paul (if they are not The Mole) need to get a set. They suck.
  • Liz is old and is getting called out by Paul for her lack of effort. Paul has kicked it in early weeks in a row.

Battlestar Galactica Recap: Hub

Battlestar Galatica Recap

I’m woefully behind on BATTLESTAR GALACTICA. Like 2 weeks behind. Lucky for me, it’s going be nearing 100 degrees here in Boston tomorrow so I can stay in my nice air conditioned apartment and play catch up. For all you BSG fans out there, please enjoy this week’s recap courtesy of our favorite Texan, Jo.

Title: “Hub”
GMMR Recapper: Jo
Since I recap BSG, I don’t usually read reviews from other sources because I don’t want to be influenced. I’ve been loving this season of Battlestar. But other official journalists have been hating, though I can’t see why. Even in these slower paced episodes, they stay on the plots at hand with character development. It’s been emotional, tense, and EMMY WORTHY. Unfortunately Emmy voters don’t actually watch TV so Katee Sackhoff, Edward James Olmos and the like will watch someone else take home their gold. This week’s acting prize should go to Mary McDonnell. Her portrayal of President Roslin has been a gambit of emotion and a beautiful character arc that a lesser actress couldn’t have done. Roslin went from Secretary of Education to reluctant President, to dying leader to prophetess and now the hardcore AIRLOCK! Roslin. And yet, deep down inside, she’s just Laura.

39,673? Seriously who died last week? Besides the Cylon Natalie? Last week was all about Galactica and Bill “Husker” Adama chilling in the black void waiting on his woman. This week- the flip side. Roslin, Dreamy Roslin, Baltar, Helo and a thousand Sharons.

SWINGTOWN Premiere: Let Freedom Swing

The cast of SWINGTOWN

Did anyone else feel like they needed to take a shower after watching last night’s premiere of SWINGTOWN?  While I was intrigued by the sexy and provocative new drama from CBS I can’t say I felt necessary good about watching it.  There was a bit of grit and grime that made me happy that I don’t remember the four year that I was alive in the 70’s.

SWINGTOWN brings us back to the 70’s, a complex decade that was the bridge between the free spirited, openess of the 60’s and the more conservative 1980’s.  It was a time when the lines of social and moral ethics were often blurred – which clearly led to a hell of a good time.

The Miller Family – husband Bruce, wife Susan, their teenaged daughter Laurie and then pre-teen son B.J. have just moved to a new neighborhood in the suburbs of Chicago. A bigger house by the lake, they are the envy of all their friends.  Especially their former next door neighbors, The Thompsons. But after just one night in their new home the Millers realize that although they may be just a few blocks away from their old house, they may soon be a lot further away than that from their old lives. And they have their new neighbors, The Deckers, to thank, or perhaps blame, for that.

Tonight marks the premiere of CBS’s new 70’s drama SWINGTOWN. Early reviews are positive, but what matters is what YOU think of the show. So plan on tuning in tonight at 10pm on CBS. And if you want to learn a little more about the show before hitting that sacred ‘record’ button on the remote, here’s a a rundown and a few SWINGTOWN clips for you to check out.

    What’s it all about….
After moving to an upscale lakeside Chicago suburb in July of 1976, Susan and Bruce Miller must confront temptation in the form of their provocative new neighbors, Tom and Trina Decker, while not abandoning their old friends Janet and Roger Thompson. As the adult couples evaluate whether to embrace or avoid newfound personal freedoms, the curious Miller and Thompson children begin to discover and assert their own morality and sexual identities as they come of age in a world on the precipice of change. In a shifting social climate – defined by its music, fashion and style – everyone in SWINGTOWN is confronted with personal choices, experimentation and attitudes.

    Get a Sneak Peek…
The following video clips contain spoilers for the premiere SWINGTOWN. If you watch you will be spoiled…I’m just letting you know.

Travis Wall’s Undercover SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE Audition

    June 4, 2008 by
Filed under So You Think You Can Dance

Hands down the best audition of last night’s SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE was from a very familiar face…even if we didn’t recognize him at the time. Travis Wall, a S2 contestant and now a SYTYCD choreographer, had a little fun with the judges when he decided to go incognito and audition in Milwaukee. Yes, that’s Travis under all that wig and makeup.

It may have all been in good fun, but damn…that kid can dance.

You know what big fans of Travis Wall we are here at GMMR so this was a special treat for us. And for those of you who want to know what Travis looks like when he’s not in drag, here’s the two of us a few weeks ago in NYC.

SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE

The 2008 SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE auditions are over! OVAH!! Tomorrow night it’s all about Vegas and the Top Ten Boys and Top Ten Girls will be revealed. Can I get a hells yeah?!

Tonight’s final audition episode featured some of the best (and worst) that Milwaukee had to offer as well as a few highlights from auditions from previous cities. There are some really talented dancers this year and I couldn’t be more excited to see them all in Vegas tomorrow night.

But here were some of the standouts from me from tonight’s episode…

I have to give it up for Boston boy, Michael Kim. Although I would be lying if I said I wasn’t a little over all the poppers this season. These guys are talented, and I enjoy watching them, but for some reason I feel like we’ve seen so many poppers (and contemporary dancers) that I felt like I’ve been missing the other genres…desperately. But Michael has some great moves and I hope he can handle the choreography in Vegas.

Janette Manrara and Romulo Villaverd had some of the sickest moves I have ever seen from Latin dancers, or I guess any style dancers for that matter. It was incredible to see what they were able to do. The trust that must exist to pull this stuff off! And not for nothing, but how painful must have been to get to this place. Janette has moved on to Vegas but the judges passed on her partner, Romulo.
