    Tony Shaloub AGAIN? Blerg.

  2. Melissa Krasinski on July 17th, 2008 9:10 am

I hate Tony Shalhoub. But STEVE AND RAINN AND THE SHOW?!

should’ve been john krasinski. and jenna fischer.
    too.

because they deserved it so badly.

    But Congrats to all!
GO AMY POEHLER AND WILL ARNETT! (:

  3. Jules on July 17th, 2008 9:17 am

I’m soo happy Amy AND Will got nominated. So cool! I’m almost OK with no Jenna and John because of it, but not really. And all those nods for Pushing Daisies and no series nod? I’m sad. I also wish there more acting nods for Lost because of this great season (I mean, where is Desmond?!)

Anyway, congratulations to all the nominees!!

You should give John Adams some love too. That miniseries was amazing and everyone nominated is deserving. It is a shame that David Morse, Stephen Dillane and Tom Wilkinson can’t each win. That’s the only thing that is going to blow. I am bummed about no FNL love, but that was softened with the Damages recognition. I would like to be able to rail about The Office lack of nominations more, but I really can’t. I feel like Jenna and John did good work… not great. But Rainn and Steve were on fire this season and were very deserving.

Cat Deeley should’ve been nominated over Seacrest. Or the Philiminator from Amazing Race. I’m kind of glad I’m not an Emmy voter because I can’t choose between so many of my favorites!

  6. GMMR on July 17th, 2008 9:50 am

Yeah, no Cat Deely? And no SYTYCD? Come on!

I can’t tell you how happy I am for Lee Pace, Kristin Chenoweth and Neil Patrick Harris.

I know all the buzz is about Mad Men this morning, and it’s well deserved but PUSHING DAISIES is a first year show that only aired 9 episodes and got 12 nominations. I think that’s the real story here.

  7. Kimber on July 17th, 2008 9:58 am

Wait … does that mean Anna didn’t get the nom for Lead Actress? That’s a bit depressing for me – and also no noms for the Chuck crew? 🙁

However, I can be giddy on account of Lee, Cheno, and PD getting noms! YAY! Now let’s hope they take some of those awards home, and we see our stars all sexed up for the show.

Also – much love for Dexter, 30 Rock, Mariska and NPH!

Once again, Friday Night Lights gets no love. This is getting ridiculous!

I’m thrilled for Lee as well but I wish there was some kind of “alternative” category because Pushing Daisies is not really a comedy per se. I LOVE Lee but put him up against the genius of Alec Baldwin and his odds are not good. Is there singing at the Emmy’s? I would love to hear Kristin C. sing again.

  11. mg714 on July 17th, 2008 11:16 am

So happy for all the Office noms of course! However, though I wasn’t expecting it, I still don’t know how there can be a world where Charlie Sheen consistently gets nominated but Kyle Chandler and Friday Night Lights will never get Emmy recognition. I’m so happy to see Amy Poehler nominated (but I fear she may have taken Jenna’s spot on the list). Also, how could Amy Ryan not be nominated for Guest Actress? She was perfect as Holly and I can’t wait to see her back next season, even if it is only for a few eps. And why is JKras never nominated? Jon Cryer? Really?

Anyway, I’ve learned to never expect to be happy with Emmy nominations, but I still get upset when my faves don’t make the list. At least Lost and “Benry” were included – but again, I will never understand why Emmy people do not recognize the brilliance of Matthew Fox. He is the heart and soul of that show.

  12. Sara W. on July 17th, 2008 11:18 am

I don’t understand how Pushing Daisies wasn’t nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series, but Two and a Half Men was. Also Amy Ryan was robbed by not being nominated for Outstanding Guest Actress for the Office.

  13. carrie on July 17th, 2008 11:39 am

Cat Deely—good call! Totally lame category, but I think she deserves it more than some of the others on that list.

And I totally agree with you about Amy Ryan being robbed. She was so brilliant in that role! Let’s hope she becomes a regular so she can prove them wrong next season.

Hooray for NPH! As much as I love the Pivert on Entourage (“I pledge my undying loyalty to you, Ari”), NPH makes me so happy as Barney.

Last note: Flight of the Conchords was really robbed, but secretly, I’m happy they weren’t nominated. As soon as that show becomes too popular, it will lose its charm.

  14. Alyson on July 17th, 2008 12:43 pm

Totally agree about Amy Ryan being completely snubbed. She was amazing…I had thought she would not just be nominated, but would win!

Also sad about no Jenna Fischer, no JKras, and a lack of love for Anne Dudek’s guest run on House.

    Yay for NPH! He’s awesome!

  15. Todd on July 17th, 2008 12:50 pm

I take issue with the fact that Heidi Klum can now add “The Emmy Nominated…” to her resume. There is something so wrong with that.

  16. lishka on July 17th, 2008 1:14 pm

Overall, I’m pretty happy with the nominations (The Emmys are on my birthday this year, so it IS all about me and my happiness!). But, there are two glaring omissions that almost made me cry: Amy Ryan and Flight of the Conchords! There’s just no excuse for those snubs.

  17. Alyssa on July 17th, 2008 1:55 pm

I also love that Sarah Silverman got nominated for “I’m F’ing Matt Damon”. At least the Emmy’s have a sense of humor!

  18. Toast with JAM on July 17th, 2008 5:18 pm

Cat Deely should be in Howie Mandell’s place. She is awesome! That being said, Tom Bergeron is the best host and such a natural, witty person. Remember he beat Regis during all the “Millionaire” buzz? It’s because Tom’s the best!

They should call the Best Supporting Actor the “Jeremy Piven Award”. Still, I’d love to see Neil Patrick Harris steal one this year! And there is MUCH love for Kevin Dillon’s pathetic-tough-guy, Drama.

Maybe JKras and Jenna will get some better stories this year to get them nominated next year? I didn’t enjoy their scenes much this year and it’s like they were looked over by the writers in my opinion. Which sucked. I have very high demands for the coming season!

I agree that NPH and Kristin would make terrific hosts!

  19. Nicole on July 17th, 2008 6:56 pm

No FNL???? What the hell dude? The snubbery lives on…

Also, Two and a Half Men?? Charlie Sheen?? Double what the hell!!!!!

Yay for Lee Pace, Rain Wilson, Steve Carell, Amy Phoeler, Tina Fey, Mary Louise Parker and more…but some egregious errors are present in that list (including errors of omission!!).

  20. Elizabeth on July 17th, 2008 7:56 pm

Did you see that SYTYCD got three nods for choreography? The Hummingbird, Transformers, and Table routine all got nominated. I hope the Table routine wins. (Can I say I’m glad Mia wasn’t nominated).

And I’m stoked that “I’m F**** Matt Damon” got two nods.

  21. Billiam on July 17th, 2008 11:31 pm

Some things I noticed (when reading the complete list):
South Park’s “Imagationland” 3-part got a nomination for “animation program one hour or more.” While I loved those episodes, it originally aired over three weeks, so I’m not sure if it should be in that category.

30 Rock pretty much sweeped the guest actor/actress category, although the actual nominees are a bit odd. For example, I thought Steve Buscemi’s small guest part was completely unremarkable. I also feel Sarah Chalke should have been in best guest actress for HIMYM.

I discovered categories I never new existed such as Best Commercial and Best Original Theme Music (but seriously… how did Big Bang Theory not get a nom for the awesome BNL song).

How did Amy Poehler get into the Supporting Actress in a Comedy category, even though SNL is apparently categorized as a variety show?

I’m not sure if “Dinner Party” should have been the Office ep up for best writing, but 30 Rock’s “Cooter” definately did deserve it.
