Trying to Play Catch Up…
July 31, 2008 by Kath Skerry
Remember back when summer was a time to take a break from TV? Yeah, me neither. I’ve got my summer reality TV babies like SYTYCD, Big Brother, Kathy Griffin, Swingtown, My Boys, Burn Notice and of course Wipeout among others taking up my time, but I’m trying to play a little TV catch up too.
Sadly I have fallen embarssingly far behind of Project SUPERNATURAL. I’m not saying it’s not a great show, I’ve really loved what I’ve seen so far, but I haven’t his that place where I am in my ‘must watch or die’ mode. I think I need a solid marathon to really get me in the midset. But I watched an episode tonight and my goal is to get through at least 3 more this weekend. That’s something, right? Better than nothing.
Oh and I’m also playing catch up on this little unknown show called MAD MEN. I don’t understand why more people aren’t talking about it. I mean have the critics even heard of this one? It’s pretty amazing, you should all check it out. Ha..ok, ok, so I should have kept with MAD MEN all last season. I’m a bad TV watcher, what can I say. Isn’t the important part that I’m watching now?
And for those of you who I know are going to ask. No, I haven’t been watching ANGEL or BONES this summer. David B. is looking all kinds of good these days, so it’s nothing against him. There are just so many hours in the day.
Anyone else playing a little TV catch up this summer? It’s time to share! What are YOU watching this summer?

The show I would like to play catch up on the most right now is Pushing Daisies. *Ducks behind computer* I know, I know, I should already be watching it by now; my sister reminds me of this quite often.
I finally broke down and started Lost. I’m in the middle of S2.
Yay for you Sara!! That’s what we like to hear! The DVD comes out on September 16th. Plenty of time to catch up before the October 1st premiere.
I’m slowing catching up with Mad Men as well. 🙂
GMMR – Glad I can make you proud. 😉
Jen – Mad Men is something I’d like to give a shot, too.
I can’t believe you are being so poky about Supernatural! But I know you are busy and in the time since you started watching I loaned my S1 DVDs out to a girl I work with and she will be ready to start S2 on Monday. She is hooked and got her sister watching too. I also got them both on the SYTYCD bandwagon. It has been a good summer for TV and TV on DVD for me. I am catching up on Weeds and Burn Notice.
I am planning to give Burn Notice a chance, so I have been recording it. I decided to watch Six Feet Under this summer through Netflix and am on season four. I already watch way too many shows, so I don’t need to add any other current ones.
I absolutely love Supernatural. Definitely a good choice for your viewing, even though it seems that it may be a little too spooky for you. Perhaps that is why it is taking some time to watch.
I still have the last three seasons of Buffy to watch. Season four took me four months to watch, but I haven’t been able to start season five yet.
I’ve bought and watched season one of 30 Rock, and then get season two once it comes out on dvd. Then I’ll be all set for season three!
Like you, I wanted to get into Bones, but I just don’t see it happening. Ever.
So you’re not the only one playing catch up. I feel your pain.
the office(usa version) is the best show ever, yeap, that’s what she said :))
HA!
Thanks for the update. Glad to know Bones (and DB) is still on the radar, sort of.
Season three starts up soon (and by soon, I mean, in like one whole month…but…who’s counting…)!
Kath, what have you heard, if anything, about the possible Arrested Development Movie?
I just finished season 2 of Rome (easily one of the top ten shows of the ’00’s, possibly top 5) and am moving onto Big Love, because polygamy has to be entertaining right, before Dexter season 2 comes out on DVD in a couple weeks.
