Tina Fey & Steve Carell Get Married!!

Dearly beloved, we gather here today to witness the union of Liz Lemon and Michael Scott. Yeah…in my dreams! Sadly I think it’s going to be some time before we see a 30 ROCK/THE OFFICE crossover (but how brills would that be?), but we will see Tina Fey and Steve Carell on screen together soon.
The reigning King and Queen of comedy will play husband and wife in “Date Night”, a story that ‘follows a couple who find their routine date night becomes much more than just dinner and a movie.
“I wanted to do a relatable, grounded character comedy about marriage and the lengths we go to preserve the spark,” director Shawn Levy told Daily Variety. “Tina and Steve are smart and relatable, and the tone of their comedy perfectly fits this film.”
Shooting will begin around the hiatus of the stars’ respective hit show.
How fun will this movie be? Genius!

Who Went Home on BIG BROTHER?

Well, well, well…I must say that I am really enjoying this season of BIG BROTHER, despite the absolute nut jobs that are living in that house. Seriously these people are off their crackers this season. When all the other houseguests make Renny look normal then we know we’ve got some interesting people on our hands.
Tonight another houseguest was given the heave ho and another was won the all important Head of Household competition. Who was the loser and who was the victor? Find out after the break jump.
New Celebrity Dinner Show Coming to NBC
August 14, 2008 by Kath Skerry
I think Webster’s needs to come up with a new word for “celebrity”. It’s been overused to the point that it’s almost lost its meaning. Case in point – NBC has announced plans for a new reality show called “Celebrity Come Dine with Me” where ‘a “celebrity” plays hosts to a dinner party for four of their “famous” friends. At night’s end, the party will be judged by its presentation, food and entertainment value.’
On paper it’s an interesting concept. Who wouldn’t want to see Tina Fey host a dinner with maybe Amy Poehler, Will Arnett, Jason Sudekis and hell even Rachel Dratch? Or maybe it would be Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes having a Scientology feast with Leah Remni, J. Lo and Marc Anthony. Sounds great, right?
But let’s be honest, those aren’t even close to the kinds of “celebrities” that NBC is going to land for this show. I’ve got my money on it being more like a dinner party hosted by Omarosa featuring Flava Flav, one of the Brady kids, Emmanuel Lewis and one of the Coreys. It won’t be a dinner party as much as it would be a train wreck.
I hope I’m wrong.
If done well, with proper (interesting) celebrities, this show could be great. If anyone remembers “Dinner for Five”, you know what I mean. “Dinner for Five” was a show on IFC where host Jon Favreau would invite four of his famous friends for dinner and a camera would capture their uninhibited conversation as they discussed everything from the business, to politics, to the nature of celebrity. Nothing was scripted, and the actors were themselves in a relaxed atmosphere. It was a great show (check out a clip below…could be NSFW for language)
Tonight…More Olympic Coverage

Someone asked me last night why I wasn’t blogging about the Olympics on GMMR. To be honest, I ‘ve been too caught up watching them to even think about blogging about what I’m seeing. But I have been watching. Oh yes, I’ve caught Olympic fever and the only cure is a visit from Dr. Phelps. Dayum!! I could watch that boy swim all day. Ok who am I kidding, I could watch him walk around the pool all day! Who’s with me? Anyone?
…and this is why you don’t want me blogging about the Olympics.
But if you’re interested, here are some of the more notable events on tonight. Tonight’s marquee events include another try at gold for Michael Phelps and the women’s all around competition in gymnastics (which is on really late…boo).
8pm on NBC
The U.S. men’s volleyball team plays undefeated Bulgaria. The Americans, also undefeated, can secure a quarterfinal berth with a win and they may have back their coach, Hugh McCutcheon, just days following the murder of his father-in-law in Beijing. Other coverage includes the men’s C-2 whitewater canoeing gold-medal final.
8pm on CNBC
Light welterweight (64kg) and welterweight (69kg) elimination bouts.
8pm on Oxygen
Coverage of gymnastics and the conclusion of equestrian’s team dressage competition. Also, a women’s singles tennis quarterfinal between American Venus Williams and China’s Li Na, who became the first Chinese player to reach the final eight in an Olympic singles tournament when she defeated Kaia Kanepi of Estonia. Williams, playing in her first tournament since winning her fifth Wimbledon crown, reached the final eight with a straight-sets victory against Victoria Azarenka of Belarus.
10pm on NBC
Coverage of more gold-medal swimming (LIVE ET/CT), and perhaps most notable is the men’s 200m IM where world-record holder Michael Phelps seeks his sixth Beijing gold medal – the 12th of his career – equaling his total from four years ago in Athens. In the men’s 200m back, Americans Aaron Peirsol and Ryan Lochte could add another chapter to their back-and-forth rivalry.
11pm on NBC
In 1984, 16-year-old gymnast Mary Lou Retton won gold in the women’s individual all-around competition. In 2004, 16-year-old Carley Patterson did it. Now, at the Beijing Games, two more U.S. teens – Shawn Johnson and Nastia Liukin – each have a chance to win what is perhaps the most prominent event at the Olympics (LIVE ET/CT). Also, more swimming: The women’s 100m free and the men’s 100m fly semifinals (LIVE ET/CT).
Midnight on CNBC
The defending Olympic champion U.S. vs. Japan in a preliminary-round softball game (LIVE ET/CT). Plus, elimination boxing bouts for 57kg featherweight and 60kg lightweight fighters (LIVE ET/CT).

Hellloooo GMMRers! Happy Thursday to all of you. I was just checking out tonight’s TV lineup and it seems between the Olympics and the shows listed below there will be plenty of stuff to keep me entertained while I do laundry. Heading to Nantucket with my friends this weekend and I have lots of laundry to do. Perhaps I’ll even get around to unpacking my suitcase from last week’s trip to Vermont. Aye!
For those of you who aren’t into the Olympics, here’s a taste of what else is on tonight.
Big Brother 10 | 8pm on CBS
It’s either Libra or Keesha going home tonight. Unless there’s a crazy turn of events it will be Libra walking out the door tonight. She’s irks me so I’m fine with that. But I really do wish it was Jerry leaving. Who knew that at this point in the game I’d be rooting for Renny to take it all!!
America’s Best Dance Crew | 10pm on MTV
From across the country, 12 dance teams of five to seven members each compete before judges in an elimination challenge, recreating moves from music videos and classic movies; the winner, determined by viewer voting, gets cash and a touring contract.
Burn Notice | 10pm on USA
Michael attempts to catch an embezzler inside a hip-hop artist’s charity by tricking the thief into swiping a higher amount. Michael Shanks guest stars.
Kathy Griffin: My Life of the D-List | 10pm on Bravo
Kathy takes her team to Washington D.C. for a special trip to the Walter Reed Army Medical Center to visit with some of the wounded soldiers, and she also performs a private stand-up comedy act for the soldiers and hospital staff.

The following post reveals spoilers for the season finale of THE MOLE. Stop reading if you don’t want to know.
THE MOLE is probably the only reality game show where the reveal of the winner isn’t the biggest news of the show. But after weeks of wondering just who was sabotaging the game play of the other contestants, everyone was dying to find out just who was The Mole.
And tonight it was revealed. But before we get to it I guess we should announce the winner.
The winner of this season of THE MOLE and the identity of THE MOLE after the jump.
Rainn Wilson Kidnaps Jenna Fischer and her Blog

THE OFFICE is back filming and all is right in the world. And because the cast of THE OFFICE is all kinds of awesome, the return to filming also means the return to the cast blogs on MySpace.
For a very short time last season, Rainn Wilson joined the MySpace world and started a blog of his own. But it wasn’t too long after he signed up that he left because it was just all a little too much to handle. But that doesn’t mean he can’t hijack his castmates blog in order to be heard.
Earlier today Rainn kidnapped not only co-star Jenna Fischer, but also her MySpace blog to promote his new movie THE ROCKER. And Wilson, the evil mastermind that he is, knows exactly how to get our attention…he plays the ‘JAM’ card. You sinister man you. You know we fans will do anything to keep our Jim & Pam together.
Read on to hear Wilson’s ransom demands…
Sara Gilbert Joining THE BIG BANG THEORY

Spoiler Alert…Penny and Leonard aren’t going to have a romance for the ages. In case you thought things were just going to go swimmingly after the couple’s first official date in the season finale I’m here to tell you it ain’t going to happen. But that’s ok because we all know that Sheldon and Penny are the ones that were truly meant to be, right? No? How about Wolfowitz and Penny? Raj…is he ever speaks to her? Come on, out girl has go to end up with one of the boys!
Ok so it’s a no go for Leonard and Penny but perhaps he won’t be crying in his soup for too long as it has been announced that ex-lover Leslie Winkle will be returning. Yes, Sara Gilbert has been added as a series regular on THE BIG BANG THEORY for the upcoming season. I thought she was a hoot during her last guest stint so I’m interested to see what they do with her character this season. And come on, who doesn’t love the reunion of Darlene and David?
THE BIG BANG THEORY returns for its second season on September 22nd. And for all you BBT fans, I still have a lot of great moments and pics from THE BIG BANG THEORY at Comic Con still to share. Stay tuned.
Don’t forget about Neil Haskell in THE AMERICAN MALL Tonight

Comments Off on Don’t forget about Neil Haskell in THE AMERICAN MALL Tonight
The OC’s Autumn Reeser and SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE’s Neil Haskell may not be the leads in THE AMERICAN MALL which premieres tonight on MTV but they are two of the main reasons that I’ll be tuning in…and you should too.
THE AMERICAN MALL is the story of Ally, a hardworking young woman whose mother has owned a music shop that’s been the soul of the mall ever since it opened when Ally was a kid. Ally’s singer/songwriter dreams seem to come closer to fruition when she meets Joey, a musician who’s moonlighting as a janitor at the mall in order to support his own rock star ambitions. While Joey understands her songs (and heart) like no one else, Ally’s happiness and the fate of the music store are threatened when the mall owner’s spoiled daughter Madison – who will stop at nothing to get what she wants – becomes involved.
I haven’t had a chance to see this yet, but it seems like HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL…you know, without all the guilt. And I know this is personal preference but I’ll take Neil Haskell over Zac Efron any day of the week.
So tune into MTV tonight at 9pm and check out THE AMERICAN MALL.
Thanks to GMMR reader Kat for the reminder.
Playing TV Catch Up with MAD MEN, SWINGTOWN and PYSCH

Last night I played a little catch up with my old friend, DVR. It was nice to get reacquainted. Lately I feel that our friendship has been a little one-sided with DVR doing all the work, and me stopping by to say Hi only occasionally. Here’s a little bit of how I spent my time with good ‘ol DVR last night.
MAD MEN…
We haven’t discussed MAD MEN much around these parts. I guess it’s because I fell off watching after about 5 episodes last season. But let me tell you that I am all kinds of caught up on that show and I am passionately in love with it. The look, the feel, the characters…everything. Hell I like it so much that I even found myself missing the smarmy Pete Campbell last night.
I have something to confess and I don’t know if I’m alone in this or not. I realized that I just don’t like Don Draper. Am I supposed to? Is this a guy that I should be pulling for, because really I just want to smack his smug mug most of the time. I know it was the times, but come on…can’t you stay faithful to your wife for at least a week, Don? She’s a looker and she’s on to you. Bravo to Betts for standing up for yourself with the men in your life. I know it’s a bit of a double standard, but I kind of want Betty to get it on with the horse guy, only because Don needs a little taste of his own medicine.
And is anyone else dying for the Peggy/Pete/baby storyline to resurface. When last night’s “previously on…” touched upon the pregnancy storyline I thought for sure we would have seen something other than Peggy’s discomfort during the abortion discussion. I’m not suggesting that Team Mad Men forgot about it, not at all, I just find myself really interested in the inevitable fallout.

I’m not sure where you are, but here in Boston there’s a bit of chill in the air. Fall isn’t too far off – the TV screeners are starting to arrive, returning favorites are starting to air their end of season reruns. I’m trying not to get too excited, but come on…this is good stuff.
Since I was away all weekend, I haven’t really been paying much (ok, not any) attention to the Olympics. I’ve managed to jump on to NBC.com to see Michael Phelps in all his delish glory take home a few gold medals, but other than that I’ve seen bupkis. Hopefully I can watch a few competitions tonight. If only we all had as much time as President Bush on our hands to take in more of the events.
Tonight, NBC will be showcasing the following event: swimming; men’s gymnastics; beach volleyball; and men’s diving (among others)
High School Musical: Get in the Picture | 8pm on ABC
The contestants get a lesson in how to express emotions without using words. Later, they separate into pairs to perform duets. [GMMR: Is anyone watching this show? It’s a question, not a judgement. If you are watching, leave a comment and let me know what you think.]
The Closer | 9pm on TNT
Provenza pretends to be a killer for hire in order to gather evidence against a woman who is planning to have her husband murdered, but Provenza’s job is jeopardized after his car is stolen along with all the evidence he had gathered for the case.
Saving Grace | 10pm on TNT
A drunk driver collides with Grace’s car door and reveals a large amount of cash that had been hidden there by a previous owner, which leads to an investigation; the squad members are devastated to learn that Ham’s brother is missing in Afghanistan.
The Mole | 10pm on ABC | Season Finale
The winner, the Mole’s last victim and the Mole are revealed in the fifth-season finale after all 12 players reunite. Will The Mole turn out to be Nicole, Mark or Craig? [GMMR: My money is on Nicole, but who do YOU think is the mole?]
Weeds | 10pm on Showtime
Nancy and Esteban set aside time to spend with one another in the midst of their busy schedules; Nancy has a special talk with both Shane and Silas; Silas and Lisa add new items to the cheese-shop menu while Andy and Doug encounter El Coyote.
Rerun Central…
Some of my faves are in rerun mode tonight so I thought I would share a few with you. And remember, if you haven’t seen it it’s new to you!
- The Big Bang Theory | 8pm on CBS : Leonard lies to Penny to avoid hearing her sing a second time, but Sheldon extends the lie, which makes things worse, leading Leonard to produce a nonexistent cousin (D.J. Qualls).
- How I Met Your Mother | 8:30pm on CBS: Ted decides to live life like Barney on St. Patrick’s Day, which probably involves activities that would make a saint blush.
- Gossip Girl | 8pm on The CW: Georgina threatens to disclose details about Serena’s past; Blair and Jenny spread rumors about one another through Gossip Girl; Dan has information about Asher that Jenny ignores; Rufus turns to Lily for parenting advice.
- Prison Break | 8pm on Fox: Michael heads back to shore up the escape tunnel, and T-Bag enlists Bellick to display his gladiatorial skills once again as the battle between Lechero and Sammy for control of Sona comes to a head.
- Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles | 9pm on Fox: Sarah attempts to acquire new fake identities for herself and John. An old friend offers to help by putting her in touch with his nephew, a gang member. Meanwhile, John grows restless and sneaks out of the house to track down Charley Dixon.

MY BOYS Season Finale…WTF Happened?!
August 8, 2008 by Kath Skerry

Here I am enjoying the MY BOYS season finale, wondering if PJ is still employed because for a sports writers she spends a lot of time not talking about, thinking about or writing about sports, when I see Bobby approach PJ’s door. This whole episode, hell this whole season has been leading up to Bobby realizing that PJ is his lobster (or probably not because it’s just never that easy). After feeling the wedding day jitters our young Bobby has seemingly realized that perfect Elsa may not be the perfect woman for him. He knocks. PJ opens the door. Bobby opens his mouth and…
[Delete this recording] or [Don’t delete this recording].
WTF?! Seriously? Yes, the evil combo of a DVR and TBS not ending their show on time means that I missed the final scene of the MY BOYS season finale. I’m kind of dying inside so if someone could throw me a bone and tell me what the hell happened then I would be so grateful.
Yes, I know I could do some searching and find it on my own, but I thought it would be a lot more fun to hear it from all of you.
And while you’re at it, let’s talk about Bobby & PJ…and I guess PJ and Jack for the matter. For the record I don’t get the appeal of Jack at all. He’s a child…which I could deal with if he were half as cute as Bobby, but he’s not. What gives PJ?
In other MY BOYS news…
- Is Brendo now gay or was that storyline with Bobby’s friend just an ongoing joke that really never paid off?
- Stephanie and Kenny…yeah, I don’t like it. He’s too nice for her.
- Clearly Jim Gaffigan was busy while they were filming the finale? He was missing from most of the group scenes, and he was missed.
- Mike was looking all kinds of adorable last night. Perhaps ‘heart on my sleeve – genuine’ Mike is someone we should explore more of next season?
P.S. I know that I should be concerned with or even thinking about the social life of Kyle Howard (Bobby), but ever since the rumors surfaced of him possibly dating Lauren Conrad I can’t help but look at him a wee bit differently. Sorry, just needed to put that out there.
Michael Kors to Guest on GOSSIP GIRL

Michael Kors…excuse me, top American designer Michael Kors, will be XOXOing it up all over the place when he guests in an episode of GOSSIP GIRL this season. Kors will be mixing it up with the kids of the Upper East Side during NYC Fashion Week…but of course.
Of his upcoming appearance, Kors says, ‘I love the clothes, everyone is good-looking, the plot line is a riot,’ he said. ‘I love the show. They called and said, “You are very Gossip Girl,” I thought, “Finally, I am a teenager.”‘
He adds, ‘Probably to the consternation of certain people on the Upper East Side, they really get it. It’s a pretty clear picture of how a lot of these kids really are.’
I’ve got $20 on Kors being Gossip Girl.
