Give Me My Remote’s Fall TV Lineup ’08

Fall TV Lineup 2008

It’s back….Yes, Fall TV season is here once again and it couldn’t come a minute too soon.  With the months we lost because of last year’s strike and then of course the long summer months, I don’t know about you but I’m ready for some good ‘ol TV.

I miss my television friends and can’t wait to find out just what they’ve been up to since we last saw them.  And then there’s all the new kids to meet.  Which will be new lifelong mates and which will be transferred – never to be heard from again?

Over the course of the week, I’m going to be breaking down each night of the week to talk about the shows I’m most looking forward to and which ones we’ll be talking about here on GiveMeMyRemote.com.  There’s so much TV and so little space on my DVRs.  What’s a girl to do?  Get help, that’s what.  Yup, this season you’re going to hear from a few new peeps here on GMMR.  I can’t wait to introduce you to the new GMMR team.  It’s because of them that GMMR will be able to cover a lot more TV this season. And that’s not all. In the coming months GiveMeMyRemote.com will be getting a much needed Extreme Makeover: Blog Edition face lift.  It’s a new season, we might as well try out a few new things around here too, right?

Before we take a look at the Fall ’08 TV grids, I just want to say THANK YOU to each and everyone of you that visit the site.  It means nothing without all of you and I’m so greatful to you for sticking with me, especially over the past few months when it’s been been quieter than usual around here.  I’m excited for things to get back to normal (and by normal I mean me staring at a TV for hours on end every night).  And remember, when all is said and done it’s YOU that makes GMMR my favorite little TV community, so keep your comments coming and tell your friends to come join in the discussion.

Ok enough of the blah, blah, blah…let’s start figuring out our new TV lineup (at least for the immediate future).  I’ve put together a primetime grid for every night of the week featuring the top networks.  Remember, this is just a snapshot of the Fall lineup so mid-season replacements and the like we’ll get to later.  But if there are any big shows I forgot, definitely leave me a comment and I’ll add them.

The show that someone on Team GMMR will be covering are denoted by our new mascot: GMMR Logo(naming contest coming soon)

Monday Night Fall TV

Fall TV Season - Tuesday Night

Fall TV Season - Wednesday Night

Fall TV Season - Thursday Night

Fall TV Season - Friday Night

Fall TV Season - Sunday Night

So as you can see, there is a LOT to talk about over the course of the next week. We’re all going to need each other to figure out this crazy ass TV schedule. I mean Mondays alone…ugh, I can’t even talk about it right now. I’m going to have to give my DVRs a really special Xmas gift this year for all that I’m putting them through.

Thanks! I’ve been waiting for these. GMMR I hate to burst your bubble bot not even two tivos will be able to save you from the Monday night shows. Why do they have to do that? There are just too many on in one night.

Have you seen the new Christian Slater show? It looks really good.

Does this mean you are watching Supernatural this season? Oh My God I didn’t think you were watching. Isn’t it the best!!!!!

We are watching a lot of the same shows this year. I can’t believe you aren’t watching Survivor! It’s still the best reality show ever.

YEEEEESSSS!!! Let the obsessive planning begin! *breaks out the highlighters*

    😀

I thought Eli Stone was moving to Sunday, not Tuesday?! Darn. Sunday would have been much better for me.

Oh and I can’t believe you’re not going to watch Crusoe. That’s the new one I’m most excited about! 🙂

Gah. I just made my schedule. It’s ridiculous how much smaller it is now than in past years. I don’t know if it’s tv giving us a lack of quality or my tastes have gotten more specific or both.

On the other hand, premiere season won’t be nearly as hectic for me, and that is definitely a good thing.

Gah! There is just too much going on this year!!! I will have to crack out my pen and paper (ooh, highliters too!) and make myself a schedule. Not doing this last year ALMOST caused me to miss the greatest new thing since sliced bread … PUSHING DAISIES! Thankfully ABC reran it the Friday after it premiered, or else I’d have missed out on that wonderful experience.

Wednesday is going to be my “bad night” because I’m stuck in the dark ages with a VCR (remember those things?), a yoga class from 7 – 8 pm, and both Pushing Daisies and Bones airing at the same time. Granted, last year’s season of Bones made me want to de-fan myself, so I’ll probably tape PD and only watch Bones when my class is over, or if PD is a rerun. But still … missing out on TJ Thyne is gonna be tough! I really should check and see if my Canuck channel will be running PD a day early, like they did last year…

UGHHHH! I didn’t take into consideration ( as I beacame throughly “addicted” to Grey’s that it and The Office / 30 Rock would be on at the same time!

Hey GMMR! Where is Reaper?? Is it coming back after all?

  9. Billiam on September 7th, 2008 4:26 pm

Reaper will be a midseason replacement.

And Life does not premiere on September 22 at 10pm. I’m not sure where you got that. But September 22 is taken up by the Heroes premiere, and Life premieres on October 3rd (according to one website that I found, at least).

  10. Give Me My Remote on September 7th, 2008 5:10 pm

Thanks for the catch, Billiam. LIFE has a special premiere on 9/29 not 9/22 as I originally posted. I’m going to update right now.

mondays are going to be so hard (thats what she said)
chuck, gossip girl, dwts, bbt, and himym are all on from 8-9.
what am i going to do?

  12. Beckert on September 8th, 2008 12:25 am

ooh! ooh! One of the shows you missed is Dexter, which will be on at 9pm ET Sundays on Showtime. I’ve seen the first episode and this season is going to be FANTASTIC. Maybe not as good as the perfection of season 2, but good all the same.

  13. Sus on September 8th, 2008 8:31 am

It’s just occurred to me…what about those ABC shows you mentioned a weekish ago, like Castle and the Unusuals. Are they mid-seasoners?

  14. mg714 on September 8th, 2008 3:32 pm

I’ve been wanting to finally get into Gossip Girl but with all those Monday shows, I’m not sure if it will happen again this year! Sadly, I have no DVR or TiVo! Why do they have to put so many good shows on one night? There’s not much I want to watch on Tuesdays or Wednesdays.

At least FNL and Lost won’t be on until the winter… On second thought, I don’t know if I can wait that long for those shows to return!

  15. JP on September 8th, 2008 8:43 pm

I like the name “Telly” for the mascot.

  16. About Last Night: TERMINATOR, GOSSIP GIRL & PRISON BREAK » Give Me My Remote on September 9th, 2008 10:14 am

[…] you can, because in just a few short weeks things are going to get wildly out of control.  The Monday night TV schedule is so intense that not even my two DVRs will be able to keep up.  We’re still trying to […]

  17. Kimber on September 9th, 2008 11:10 pm

I’d like to second JP’s suggestion of “Telly” for your TV mascot. That’s cute!

Also – where is Scrubs? I heard that ABC picked it up for a half/three-quarter season this year, yet I see no place for it to be. Is it a mid season replacement?

Just saw your Twitter post about not reminding us about Fringe … tsk tsk tsk. Bad, bad little Josh Jackson fan. Bad! That’s okay, though, I watched it – and have officially added it to my “new loves” list for the season!
