Happy PUSHING DAISIES Premiere Day
October 1, 2008 by Kath Skerry
Hours, just hours away from the Season 2 premiere of PUSHING DAISIES. I’ve already seen the premiere episode (ok more than once) and it’s so brilliant and fantastic that I just can’t wait for you to see it too. Everything that you love about PUSHING DAISIES has been turned up a notch. The colors, the intricate and beautiful dialogue, the funny, the romance – yup, all present and accounted for.
I get it. PUSHING DAISIES is not for everyone. I often hear that it’s just too precious or cutesy – and to each their own – but I have to wonder if people are just seeing the facade of the show. Look a little deeper and despite the bright, child like colors you are going to find perhaps the most dark comedy on TV today.
In tonight’s episode “Bzzzzzzzzz” (that’s 9 z’s representing the 9 episodes in the first season), everyone is all a buzz (pun of course intended). Olive is a buzz with secrets. The Darling Mermaid Darlings are a buzz with their new found freedom. Emerson is a buzz with finding his long lost daughter. And Ned and Chuck are a buzz with love…and their past coming back to haunt them.
In tonight’s mystery, Chuck goes undercover as a “Bee Girl” at a honey-based cosmetics company after their new spokesmodel (guest star Autumn Reeser) is stung to death. She soon discovers that office politics are killer (literally) between the founder (guest star Missi Pyle as Betty Bee) and the new owner (guest star French Stewart as Woolsey Nicholls). Bravo to Reeser, Pyle and Stewart for their hilarious guest stints.I don’t know what I can do to get you all to tune in and give PUSHING DAISIES a chance (or maybe a second chance). You name it and I’m willing to do it. But perhaps you’ll tune in as a favor to me? Pretty please with a little Lee Pace on top?
Check out some (spoilery) pics as well as scenes from tonight’s season premiere and a taste of what’s to come this season on PUSHING DAISIES…after the jump.
And watch PUSHING DAISIES along with us at ThePieMaker.com tonight starting at 8pm EST.

I am being good and NOT watching spoilery videos (although I had to see the one with Lee in his boxers. TOO CUTE for words!!!), but I do know a few mild things. And I adore Pigby! How like Olive to find a Digby replacement while at a nunnery.
I’ve said it elsewhere, and I’ll say it here too … I cannot WAIT for this episode to air!!!
I thought there was only 1 season so far….did I miss something? How could I miss my FAVORITE show????? Explain, please!

I am so psyched for this tonight! I have hardly been spoiled at all and I’m trying to keep it that way but it’s been hard to resist reading little tidbits here and there. Can’t wait to discuss it tomorrow!
#2 Sam – Clearly I smoked the wrong stuff this morning. You didn’t miss a season. I’m just missing a few brain cells.
I’ve loved Pushing Daisies since I first saw the previews last year, haha. I’ve tried to get others into the show, but most people don’t seem to enjoy it. I think it is so clever, and I never thought about it actually being a dark comedy, but you are so right! It just has a very light and happy facade. I love that you love the show, too!
CAN’T
WAIT!!
What is the song is that promo features all the characters. C’mon, Kath, help me out!
this is the most stupid and childish show i have seen since barney. this show belongs on disney for kids about 8 years old.
That was an awesome ep last night! The writing, the acting, the visuals. There’s truly nothing else like it on TV today.
My husband saw that I was watching it and he had me start it over so he could see it too. Then I got busy with the kids so he just watched it without me. I saw bits and pieces and will definitely watch it over. My hubby’s comment was that he couldn’t stand that there was music going on CONSTANTLY. He said at times that it was hard to even hear the dialog.
For me, I’m not super-psyched about this show. I liked the first few last year and I love the narrators voice, but so much of it is really hard to watch. The general setting and wardrobe just bugs me for some reason. It’s like a tv comic book–sensory overload. I LOVE Swoosie Kurtz and yet I just don’t like her character in this. Same with The Chen. I wish that Lee Pace was allowed to show an emotion other than restrained. Even just for a minute.
I will keep watching for now when I get time (my DVR is packed as well!). It’s just not must-see for me. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.
