What to Watch…Monday, October 6, 2008
October 6, 2008 by Kath Skerry
Buck up TV watchers. Our shows need our help…and our eye balls!! Know any Nielsen families? Willing to give me their phone numbers? If you are a fan of CHUCK and/or TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES then it’s time to spread the word that these shows need new fans..STAT!!
I might not have a Nielsen box, but I’m certainly a bit to blame for not doing my part to support T:SCC. My guess is that a lot of us are facing the same issues – just too many shows fighting for our attention on Monday nights. Something has got to give, right? I’m actually a big fan of T:SCC, but when I’m forced to choose that show over CHUCK, GOSSIP GIRL, THE BIG BANG THEORY and HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER…well, again, something has got to give. BUt do what you can to help spread the word as I would hate to see that show disappear from the schedule. (And I don’t need to see Brian Austin Greene on the new 90210)
Chuck | 8pm on NBC
Chuck must learn the art of seduction so he can retrieve the cipher from a sultry female spy known as the Black Widow (Melinda Clarke); Morgan gives Capt. Awesome advice for a romantic night with Ellie. [GMMR: Tonight’s episode is SO SO SO SO good. Melinda Clarke from THE OC is seductively fantastic (per usual), but I was especially thrilled with John Laroquette’s guest appearance as the James Bondian spy help to train Chuck. I’ve already begged Schwartz to bring him back. And I know what you’re thinking…John Laroquette? Yes. Trust me, he’s awesome…and so is this episode.
The Big Bang Theory | 8pm on CBS
Sheldon creates a monster when he introduces Penny to online gaming. [GMMR: After seeing how adorably cute and close Kaley Cuoco and Jim Parson are off screen, I can’t help but push for more Sheldon/Penny interactions.]
Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles | 8pm on Fox
John and Derek infiltrate a military academy to protect an important member of the future resistance; Ellison discovers a specter from his past while on his first assignment from Weaver.
How I Met Your Mother | 8:30pm on CBS
Ted is stunned to learn that Stella expects him to move to New Jersey after they wed. [GMMR: I love Jersey, but really? Doesn’t Stella live in NYC? Could this be a deal breaker?]
Heroes | 9pm on NBC
Peter, trying to save a world destined for destruction, takes on a dark, dangerous ability; H.R.G decides to get rid of his new partner; Claire tracks one of the Villains from H.R.G’s old files; a new romance ignites. [GMMR: Yeah, so I haven’t seen HEROES yet this season. I have them all saved for a rainy day, but I’m not watching. And from what I hear, it doesn’t seem like I’m missing out on much.]
Prison Break | 9pm on Fox
Lincoln and the team go to Las Vegas where Sucre gets an indecent proposal; Sarah finds out about Michael’s condition; Roland pushes his luck; T-Bag and Gretchen team up; the secrets in Whistler’s bird book are revealed.. [GMMR: Posting this epsidoe description without reading it because I’m behind on this show. And unlike HEROES I actually care that I’m behind. I’m still with you Wentworth. I’m sorry.]
Also playing…
Dancing with the Stars | 8pm on ABC
The dancers hit the floor for more performances but this time without Misty May Trainer who had to drop out due to an injury. [GMMR: From what I’m hearing, Miss Lacey Mae isn’t playing nice and the judges aren’t loving her point of view. Is this true?]
Two & a Half Men | 9pm on CBS
Charlie attempts to cook, Alan tries to date two women at the same time, and Jake samples beer.
Worst Week | 9:30pm on CBS
Sam’s friend Adam (Nick Kroll) sets his sights on Mel’s sister during a visit to the Clayton household.
Life | 10pm on NBC
Crews and Reese are baffled when the body of a cancer research scientist is found frozen solid; Crews resolves to prove that Jack Reese was involved in his incarceration; Ted asks Crews to be a reference for a business school interview.
Boston Legal | 1opm on ABC
Denny is arrested for carrying a concealed weapon after shooting a man who was trying to mug him and Jerry; Alan battles for a sex surrogate’s right to joint custody of her daughter.
CSI: Miami | 10pm on CBS
When Delko’s therapist’s daughter is murdered, Horatio and the team race to find the killer before Delko’s secrets are exposed.
So much to choose from….what are YOU watching tonight?

Monday nights I’m all CBS. I started watching The Big Bang Theory the first season only because I watched the shows before and after it, not expecting much from it, and I ended up getting hooked on it and now it’s one of my favorites. So I’ll be watching How I Met Your Mother, Big Bang, and Two and a Half Men. I’ve watched Worst Week the first ep, and part of it last week, and just am not really getting into it so far.
Noooo! So you’re saying both Pushing Daisies and Chuck are in danger of being axed? That would be the worst thing EVER. I fell so hard for both of these shows last year, and was so insanely happy when they returned to my television. Sadly the Neilsens are stupid and I hate that Canadians have no say. Or do we? I’m not sure if boxes are given out to Canadians or not, but I just figured since we are denied so many other privileges, we probably can’t take part in Neilsens either.
Can’t wait for tonight, though … Morgan giving Capt. Awesome advice?? Oh dear….

🙂
Can anyone explain why they put so many shows on Monday night? People cannot possible watch them all. I have 3 tuners that I can DVR from and I still cannot catch all of the shows that I would like to watch. It is ridiculous.
If they are going to do this, why do they not at least rerun them on the weekend or the middle of the night when absolutely nothing else is on? Then I could at least get them with my DVR and still watch. They are only hurting themselves by making me choose…something has to give.

It bugs me that three shows I love – HIMYM, Terminator, and Chuck – are not only all on at the same time, but all get trounced in the ratings by Dancing with the Stars. I’m not sure whether to curse the Nielsens, the networks for putting shows with male demographics on Mondays against football, or for people with Nielsen boxes, who apparently all have crappy taste (who are these people who watch every CSI clone, but are unwilling to try Pushing Daisies? I refuse to be friends with these people).
