Please Watch PUSHING DAISIES…That is All
October 22, 2008 by Kath Skerry
It’s Wednesday and thus my weekly ritual of getting down on my knees (I swear I’m doing it, and it’s very difficult to type in this position) and begging you to watch PUSHING DAISIES. Begging – it’s really all I can do at this point in time. You all know about it. You’re either watching or you’re not. But for all those “undecideds” out there – please tune in at 8pm on ABC tonight and just give it a shot. It would mean the world to me.
Tonight’s episode, “Frescorts” features two familiar faces. David Arquette and EVERWOOD’s Debra Mooney. Reason enough to tune in, right?!
When the most popular escort at a rent-a-friend agency turns up dead, the team investigates who killed him, including likely suspect Randy Mann (guest star David Arquette), the guy’s antisocial, taxidermy-loving roommate. Meanwhile, Emerson’s famed private investigator mom, Calista Cod (guest star Debra Mooney), pays an unexpected visit.
Over at ThePieMaker.com we are asking our readers to help spread the word about the show (Take 5 Minutes to Help PUSHING DAISIES). ABC isn’t doing anything to help the show so it’s really up to the fans. To that end, I wanted to post this comment left by Dan/Ducky with regards to the shows cancellation and what fans can do to help.
Campaigns where folks bombard the network with letters or pie tins or daisies have their place but the real way to get the network to pay attention is to get viewers in front of their television tonight and next Wednesday. No one is saying that ABC is dropping the show, it’s just that there is a fear the show could be in trouble. ABC has unfortunately not been promoting the show as much as it needs to which means we have to do double, even triple to get the word out there.
Not a single promo was aired for tonight’s episode “Frescorts” and that’s ridiculous. If you go over to ABC.com there are promos for both Private Practice and Dirty Sexy Money airing tonight but nothing for Daisies. It’s sad but true. It appears that they’ve given up.
I feel sick over the fact that they didn’t promote this week’s episode and even worse knowing that David Arquette is guest starring… that’s something a network usually wants to highlight, a profile name like Arquette, so once again I’m left scratching my head and shaking a fist.
At the end of summer, EW did an article about the plethora of new shows still sitting with each network that don’t have air dates and how networks are waiting their other for new shows and strike impaired shows to basically die out to make way for the midseason programming.
I fear Pushing Daisies is one of the shows ABC is willing to let just die to make way for Cupid or Castle or one of the other shows they have sitting on the docket.
Bryan Fuller and crew will soon be filming the 13th episode of the season and without a pickup of the back 9, that’s all that is guaranteed to be produced this season unless a miracle happens.
You’d like to think that ABC wouldn’t let such a highly acclaimed show like Daisies go without a fight so maybe they’ve got a trick up their sleeves yet…
As always, I encourage you to stop by ThePieMaker.com to voice your love for the show. We know that ABC is very aware of the site, so we’re trying to make some noise!!

I’m watching tonight!!!!
i agree, ABC is sending the PD fans a message by not promoting the show AT ALL. Last night’s Eli Stone had promo for both Private Practice and Dirty Sexy Money…but mysteriously missing was that other Wednesday night show. I’m disappointed because knowing ABC doesn’t own Pushing Daisies like they do with that other two shows, the future looks very uncertain.
ABC is really pissing me off. Last year they were all about PD, and this season it seems like they’ve given up on it. Especially lately! That is just extremely sad, and upsetting. Why do they throw their efforts into shows that are already doing well, when they have shows that appear to be struggling, and in need of promos??? Regardless – I watched (and LOVED) tonight, and also got two friends at work to watch. Sadly we’re all in Canada, so not sure our numbers count, but it’s the thought that counts, right?
To be completely honest, the show HAS lost a lot of its magic for me. Last season I loved every moment of every episode. Now, I find it hard to all the way through without flipping to Top Model every few minutes. As much as I wanted this show to make it, I’m afraid to say it has lost an avid viewer. Not sure if I’ll even tune in next week.
I absolutely LOVE this show!! I skipped out of work for about an hour, just to see Kristin and all her lovable quirkiness.
WHY do I have to have class at that time… WHY?
I will once again lose my faith in the networks if they cancel this show (see: My So Called Life, Sports Night, Firefly). It is getting to the point where I increasingly watch shows on cable or premium channels. It gets to the point where I am not going to watch shows in their first season any more – I don’t like getting into a show and having it canceled.
Could we move it somewhere that deserves it?
I loved tonight’s episode. David Arquette was so great (and a little creepy) and I love the idea of having him stick around as Ned’s new BFF. I will be so disappointed if this show gets cancelled – it’s so fun to watch. This is what great television is at it’s best; a complete escape combined with excellent storytelling and fantastic actors. Please watch if you’ve ever considered it – you may discover it after it’s too late!
Hi- Yeah this show lost its spark for me too. Not sure if cause no other shows were on last year (strike) that the show was more intriguing..or that they are not writing it with that same sparkle. I love the premise still, and the actors make me feel like I am watching something special…just not like last year.
