THE AMAZING RACE Needs to Be a Little More Amazing

I’ve been watching THE AMAZING RACE since its second season and I’m most definitely on the record as saying it’s one of my favorite reality shows. But while this season started off strong, the past few weeks have lacked the excitement and drama we’ve come to expect from THE AMAZING RACE.

I blame the editors.

Can’t you throw us a bone with your fancy shmancy editing tools and make us at least think that there is a chance that the last place team can catch up? If not, then what’s the point in watching all the way to the end?

This week the teams found themselves racing around Cambodia. While I found the tasks rather lackluster I found the footage from the country to be amazing. I’d never be foolish enough to think I would last a day in this race, but especially not tonight with all that wading through the water. I don’t do well in the lakes of New Hampshire none the less waters of Cambodia.

As for the teams, I still don’t have a favorite. I guess Nick & Starr are ok, as are Toni & Dallas, but I can’t say that I’m really excited about any of them. Terrance and Sarah are still obnoxious and I actually cheered when they had issues with their boat tonight. Team Superbad just annoys me – if they would just stop and evaluate their situation every once in a while I’m sure they would do better at the tasks. The Divorcees still don’t deserve to find second husbands. And while I don’t mind Ken and Tina, I do worry that her plastic surgery won’t hold up much longer.

Aja and Ty were a somewhat likable team and I was bummed to see them gone. But oh well…and that just about sums up how I’ve felt about this show the past few weeks – “oh well”.

Here’s to hoping things are kicked up a notch next week.

Am I just being curmudgeony or is anyone else feel that the race hasn’t been all that amazing the past few weeks?
