THE BIG BANG THEORY: Sheldon Screams Like a Girl

Jim Parsons and Sheldon on The Big Bang Theory

You ever have those moments when you start giggling and no matter what you do you just can’t stop.  It often happens to me in church. And I use the word “often” somewhat ironically because other than weddings, I don’t find myself in church often.  But ok even at weddings, I usually find something so funny that I can’t help but break out into uncontrollable fits of laughter that I can’t suppress no matter how hard I try.

Wait…where I was going with this? I think I had a point.

Oh yes…Sheldon!  Last night watching THE BIG BANG THEORY I was laughing so hard that even when the show was over I was giggling just thinking about it.

Please tell me you saw the ep?  Well, if not, last night was all about Sheldon’s inability to drive.  He’s always relied on Leonard to get him where he needs to go. But when Leonard isn’t available to drive him to and from work, Sheldon has to rely on Penny, Howard and Raj – all who leave him on the side of the road.  What?  Would you want to be in a confined space with Sheldon?  Yeah, me too.

If you missed it, or just want to relive it, here are two of the funniest scenes from last night’s episode.  The first is Sheldon’s reaction to driving with Howard home from work – and it’s pretty much the funniest thing I’ve seen in a long, long time.  Why Jim Parson’s doesn’t get an Emmy nod for this role is beyond me – he’s hysterical.

When Sheldon’s friends stage a driving intervention, Sheldon agrees to get his permit, but first he is going to practice on Howard’s simulated driving machine.  It doesn’t go well…at all.

Are you watching THE BIG BANG THEORY? Do you need to me to come to your house and turn on your TV? (ok well I wouldn’t really turn on your TV as much as I would set your DVR – CHUCK and GOSSIP GIRL need the viewers more than THE BIG BANG THEORY)…but I will.

CALIFORNICATION: The Raw and the Cooked

October 20, 2008 by

We knew it was only a matter of time before Hank Moody would screw things up but talk about short lived! Last night’s Californication showcased quite a turn of events with the happy Moody clan, who are in fact no longer happy. I just didn’t expect director Tom Kapinos to pull the plug so soon on the Hank and Karen’s rekindled romance, but he did.

The new episode, The Raw and the Cooked, was jam packed with a trio of major events for the newly reunited family. And just like so many times before Hank’s wild antics from his past have come back to bite him in the ass.

The fourth episode opens with Hank rocking out to Free Bird on Guitar Hero while Karen comes home with the surprise that the family will be hosting a dinner party. Apparently last week’s argument over Trixie the hooker has long been forgotten. They appear to have returned to honeymoon period.

Before the dinner party Hank has plans of his own and they come in the form of a marriage proposal that is long overdue. Is Karen even divorced from the dial tone yet?

BROTHERS & SISTERS Have Found Their Ryan!

There’s been much speculation about who would be cast as Ryan Lafferty, the latest sibling to join The Walker clan on BROTHERS & SISTERS.  While some of us secretly dreamed of the role going to Jason Dohring (Veronica Mars, Moonlight) or Gregory Smith (Everwood), it was not meant to be.  The role has been cast and lo and behold a relative newcomer (at least to me) will be joining the fray.

Keep on reading to find out who or stop now to avoid be spoiled.

Hey all, Jamie here once again with some Brothers and Sisters action and this week it was yard sale madness.

I’m happy to report that the wine consumption last week hasn’t hindered our boisterous family in anyway. In last night’s episode…Nora prepares makes a clean sweep of all of William’s belongings; a time capsule brings together two estranged siblings; Robert interviews candidates to fill Kitty’s very big shoes and makes a surprising offer and Holly keeps digging for info on Ryan.

Nora’s all fired up and tries to get ready for this venture by getting rid of all of William’s things, not because she’s mad but in an effort to get her non-profit organization up .She needs to set up her headquarters and William’s old office is the place. To do this she decides its time for a Walker family yard sale. I smell trouble brewing…

Take a Look…Nicole Richie on CHUCK

Nicole Richie on CHUCKYou know what doesn’t taste good?  Crow.  But that’s just what I had to eat after watching the screener for tonight’s episode of CHUCK (8pm on NBC).  See I may have gone a little bit overboard in my criticism a few months ago when I heard that Nicole Richie was going to be hanging out at the Buy More. In my defense the news of her casting came on the heels of Britney Spears guest stint on “How I Met Your Mother” and Lindsay Lohan’s turn on “Ugly Betty” – a time when I was just so over stunt casting.  It may have hit a bit of a nerve.

When I’m wrong, I’m wrong.  Now I’m not saying that Nicole Richie is on her way to being an Emmy Award winning actress or anything, but for what was asked of her in tonight’s ep of CHUCK, she kicked ass – literally.

Nicole plays Heather Chandler (the name itself…brills!!), Sarah Walker’s high school nemesis. Heather and her husband (played by Ben Savage of ‘Boy Meets World’) have a few secrets about Sarah’s past as well as a few secrets of their own.  When they all get together for their class reunion it’s a bumpy ride down memory lane. And when Chuck cozies up to Sarah’s old classmates to learn more about her true identity, it could mean trouble for the kinda-sorta-not really-but they wish they could be couple.

The days of teasing in the halls and spreading rumors are over. These days the girls resolve their problems in the best way they know how…kicking the sh$% out of each other.

In addition to being in fighting condition, Nicole Richie has never looked better.  Smoking hot!  And she really seemed to take her role seriously.  This isn’t Paris Hilton guesting on The O.C., Richie really brings something to the part.  There I said it.  Are you happy?

Another strong episode of CHUCK tonight, in a season which has been smarter and funnier than is depicted by its ratings. If you’ve never seen CHUCK all I can do is ask that you give it a shot tonight.  You’re missing out on some really fun TV.

P.S.  For all you Sarah fans – you’ve NEVER seen our girl looking like she does tonight.

Check back tomorrow as SB will be back with a full breakdown of tonight’s episode.

CRUSOE and his Treehouse Premiere on NBC

This past Friday, NBC premiered it’s new show CRUSOE.  Did you watch?  Meredith did, and she’s here to share her thoughts on the first episode.

Welcome Meredith…and take it away!

When I first heard NBC was planning on adapting the first “real” book I read growing up (and by “real” I mean non Sweet Valley High or Babysitter’s Club book), I was excited. But I was also curious to see how they would adapt it and make it watchable. They did it by making Crusoe part MacGyver, part Survivor, part Lost and part Pirates of the Caribbean.

In this episode, the plot is fairly straightforward. We meet Robinson Crusoe, who is the sole survivor of a shipwreck and Friday, a former cannibal turned Crusoe’s island confidant. Crusoe spies in the distance what he thinks will be his rescue ship off the island, when in fact it’s a group of pirates in search of gold they believe is hidden on his island.

DEXTER: All in the Family

This was probably the most non-violent episode of “Dexter” we’ve ever seen. This is the second episode in a row where we’ve traded the violence in for real character development. And, to be honest, it’s nice to have a nice long breather like this, especially amongst all of the things that happened tonight.

Going into this episode, we knew that Miguel Prado would have to be dealt with. That was without question. What I think was on everyone’s minds was if he would “deal with it” or just, you know…deal with it. Sadly, from Showtime’s promo’s, we knew that Miguel would snap. What I didn’t expect was that it wouldn’t be Dexter who was getting knocked out. I thought he might take one for the team of self-preservation. But, in true Dexter fashion, when someone else can do it, let them.

DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES: Back in Business

October 20, 2008 by

Hi everyone! It’s Tricia back for another episode of Desperate Housewives. I really liked this episode; the plot moved along at a nice speed and there were some hilarious moments.

Susan and Jackson are doing great; he even get along great with MJ. Maybe a little too great for Mike, who begins to fell threatened by Jackson’s relationship with MJ after seeing a picture MJ drew for a school art show. In the picture, Mike was standing off to the side and was very small compared to Jackson, who was standing next to Susan and MJ and depicted as being ‘manly’. I thought the art show was ridiculous; the teacher may have had good intentions but advertising family problem’s like that was irresponsible. She should have had individual meetings with the different families. Mike decides to buy MJ a bike right after this, in an effort to spend more time with him. Jackson teaches MJ to ride without knowing Mike’s intentions and Susan tells MJ to pretend like he hasn’t learned yet and tells him to fall down. MJ unwillingly does so and ends up spraining his arm. Of course, Susan was discovered and Mike was understandably livid. Susan crossed the line here by putting her child at risk because she couldn’t set boundaries with her boyfriend. At the same time, Mike was also at fault by not making his desire to spend more time with MJ clear. It seems like this won’t be happening any more as Mike is moving back to Wisteria Lane into Mary Alice’s old house that Dave just bought.

SNL – Mark Wahlberg Talks to…Andy Samberg (Watch)

October 19, 2008 by
Filed under Saturday Night Live, SNL

Nice!  We had hoped that Mark Wahlberg hadn’t lost his sense of humor, and after his stellar showing on SNL it’s clear he hasn’t.  Marky Mark was featured in the brilliant opening sketch and then again later in this sketch with Andy Samberg. It’s even that much funnier if you’ve been following Wahlberg’s rants in the press and most recently on Jimmy Kimmel.

Sarah Palin herself bopping along was funny, but Amy Poehler rapping in the “terminal phase of her pregnancy” was hysterical.

Sarah Palin on SNL with Alec Baldwin & Tina Fey

Governor Sarah Palin…the real one and the one portrayed by Tina Fey made an appearance on SNL this week in what was one of the best opening skits in a long time.  I was also overjoyed that Alec Baldwin joined in on the funny.  When we heard the rumor that Palin was going to be guesting we had hoped that Baldwin would make an appearance.  Someone at SNL is clearly reading this blog.  (Ok, probably not).
