The Not So AMAZING RACE
November 3, 2008 by Kath Skerry
Dear Producers of THE AMAZING RACE.
Your show is beginning to bore me. How about some interesting challenges that actually hold my attention? Painting a car and ironing, really? There’s been only a handful of truly exciting tasks this season. I’m not saying that you have to have the racers eat bugs or scape mountains every week, but have them do something interesting…please!
Oh and I really don’t care about the interpersonal relationships of the contestants as much I do about the race itself. Either get back on track or start calling it “The Amazing Couples Therapy Session.”
Please do better.
That is all.

I caught some of last night’s episode during football commercials, and two things stood out to me.
1. Haven’t we seen the “strangers in a strange land” mob scene, as shown last night in search of the grooms, on virtually every trip? I seem to recall a similar frenzy over a train trip or two in the past. It may be time to let the contestants use an American Express card so that we can see some nicer digs.
2. The laundry challenge was a tad pedestrian for primetime TV, but it reminded me that I have four shirts with light starch and two suit pants ready at 5pm tonight. It’s really the little gifts in life that keep giving…
Usually, I love the India leg of the race because you can count on an emotional breakdown from a few contestants. The breakdown comes from one of those tasks where they have to get out in the city and find several locations or cart around something ridiculous. Ironing and car painting was too tame and very disappointing. And by the way, Ken, Tina is a big meanie! Run away while you can!
