What to Watch…Thursday, November 6, 2008
November 6, 2008 by Kath Skerry
Between the election coverage and getting ready for my TV weekend ahead, I feel like it’s been a while since I sat down to watch my shows. It’s not going to be easy to find the time to watch tonight, but it’s Thursday, and TV will NOT be missed.
From Oprah on 30 ROCK to (SPOILER ALERT) Erica’s last appearance on GREY’S ANATOMY, it’s certainly going to be a must see night of TV.
Ugly Betty | 8pm on ABC
Betty tries to get the attention of her cute neighbor; Betty’s life gets complicated when a suddenly homeless Amanda becomes her temporary roommate; Marc hesitates when Cliff suggests they move in together.
My Name is Earl | 8pm on NBC
A life-or-death item jumps to the top of Earl’s list when a mysterious man moves in next door; Joy becomes obsessed with winning a cash prize at a science fair so she can buy something special.

Chef Ramsay heads to Cranbury, N.J., to help two friends who bought a French Bistro they used to work in; a disgusting discovery in a kitchen cooler forces Ramsay to shut the restaurant down on the busiest night of the year.

For those of you who thought last week’s season premiere was a little slow, definitely check out tonight’s episode. I thought Oprah was ok, but Liz Lemon is off the charts funny tonight.

Supernatural | 9pm on The CW
Sam and Dean investigate a small town where a working wishing-well brings chaos. One of the people in the town couldn’t help us out and wish that Sam and Dean were shirtless the entire ep? What kind of wishing well was this?
Life on Mars | 10pm on ABC
The brutal murder of a black girl triggers a racial confrontation; Sam battles race attitudes in his own precinct; a dramatic standoff on a rooftop leads to gunshots. Despite my best intentions, I wasn’t able to catch up on the show last week. We’ll see what I can do, but I think I’m just too far behind to ever catch up.

Try to catch up on LIFE ON MARS – it’s worth it! I’ve really been enjoying this new show. The 1970’s era setting definitely gives it a different feel from all the other “gritty cop shows” out there. The characters are interesting and the suspense and mystery about just how/why he ended up in 1973 keep you guessing. Don’t give up on it yet!
AHHH….my favorite night of TV!!!!!! Looking forward to The Office, 30 Rock, and Grey’s. I know I am probably in the minority here but I am happy to see Erica leave Seattle Grace. I don’t like her character and I am having a hard time buying her and Callie’s relationship….not because it is a lesbian relationship but more that Callie has been ALL about “guy” sex for the past couple of years. I understand that the E/C relationship is based on their feelings more than the sexual aspect but I find Callie’s uncomfortableness with it all….uncomfortable. JMO
Tonight may just have been my last Grey’s episode ever. I’m still miffed about Erica’s departure. Even if the writers and Shonda *say* she wasn’t written out because she was a lesbian, it was no fault of Brooke Smith’s. It was the writers and Shonda who chose to give her the storyline that ultimately lead to her demise. As a lesbian, I was happy to hear about the lesbian storyline on the show, and even happier still to learn which characters would be involved. But the way it was written, and the stupidity of the storyline surrounding it … nobody is to blame for this except the writers and Shonda, for allowing it to happen. And if the show is being “de-gayed”, as I hear it will be, there will be one less Canadian viewer next week.
Kimber, I’m so sorry you feel that way. But I have to confess I’ve absolutely loved grey’s anatomy this season, and I really really enjoyed tonight’s episode. It moved me, and I say keep up the good work writers.
I think last nights Grey’s was one of the best this season!!!!!
