Ducky Does TV and Give Me My Remote TV Podcast Logo

TV Talk Podcast with GMMR and Ducky is back and sadly, the listener question podcast will have to wait another week because we decided to have a TV Bloggers Party instead!

This week, Kath and Dan are joined by two of their favorite blogging buddies Rae from http://www.RamblingsofaTVWhore.com and Amrie from http://www.MyTakeOnTV.com

Instead of doing our normal podcast we decided to have a late night girl talk about the shows that got us interested in television as kids, our first TV crushes and anything that popped into our sick little minds.

Hopefully you find us entertaining instead of annoying. Play along at home and share your favorite childhood TV moments in the comments section below!

It’s TV Talk with GMMR & Ducky #31 – The Party!

I was so sad when I read you weren’t going to do the listener’s question podcast.

Then I listened and realized you dedicated the entire show to my question!!! Hurrah. Guessing I wasn’t the only one who asked, but would like to pretend so.

And I have to say…yay to your guest for mentioning SCARECROW AND MS KING!

Any podcast that praises my childhood favorites, Double Dare and Remote Control, needs to be downloaded early and often!

This show had me smiling and laughing incessantly. I have a feeling the GMMR community is going to demand more of these “Memory Lane” podcasts in the future.

Quick story about my childhood crush:

My parents both worked during my preschool years, and the nice lady who took care of me in the afternoon watched All My Children religiously. Though I was just four years old at the time, I will never forget the love story of Greg and Jenny.

Years later, when Kim Delaney joined the cast of NYPD Blue, I could not believe that my first real crush was now a cast member on the best show on TV. Needless to say, the eighteen year old version of me was delighted with the results.

I totally remember Finders Keepers. I LOVED that show, almost as much as Wild and Crazy Kids and Legends of the Hidden Temple. Vintage Nick game shows are gold.

    A few random ones:
Are You Afraid of the Dark?
Life Goes On (now I’m going to have that song stuck in my head)
Ghost Writer (the super cheezy/educational-ness of PBS)

I watched “Earth 2” (it had Rebecca Gayheart in it, too), and for another odd one I think my mom watched “Beauty and the Beast,” with Ron Perlman and Linda Hamilton.

And, I loved Jonathan Brandis on Seaquest, but I think my infatuation started with him as Bastian Bux in Neverending Story 2.

    Wow, I’m a dork. . .

I loved your podcast this week. It was like a walk down memory lane. I completely freaked out when Fifteen was brought up. I loved that show and for years I have been trying to remember what it’s called. Thank you!!! You guys are hilarious! I love your podcasts, especially the long ones!

Ha! GO CANADA! (And Timmy Ho’s!). I grew up (and still live) in Canada, and for the record … Manitobans like me *don’t* say a-boot! I think that’s a Maritimer thing, because we say “a-bout”, just like you Yanks do.

Anywho … really enjoyed this podcast, guys! I think I’m relatively close in age to both Kath and Ducky (at least you, Kath), so a lot of the programs you mentioned were my faves too. I literally grew up on TV, as my parents both love it, so I was watching soaps (All My Children and General Hospital!) and sitcoms as a kid. I think my first actual crush has got to be Charlie Conway from Mighty Ducks. I also had a crush on the butchy girl (who was a twin) too, so … yeah. Shows you my dilemma, even at the time.

My next big “poster my walls with it” crush was Joey Lawrence, and secretly the girl who played Kimmy Gibbler on Full House. Full House, Blossom, and all the other fab shows had me going. I have a distinct memory of mouthing off to my dad, and not being able to watch the “very special episode” where Jesse and Aunt Becky’s twins were born. SO sad!

I also watched adult shows, like Picket Fences, Nightmare Cafe (anyone remember that? I had a major crush on Faye – I think she was played by Lindsay Something), Sisters (which led me to Pushing Daisies … RIP … I watched because of Swoosie). TGIF was truly my favourite place to be, throughout the 90s, and there are too many shows to list, as you guys did most of them.

Anywho … thanks for the awesome podcast, and I’m lookin’ forward to the next one!
