A Baby Boom on HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER
November 26, 2008 by Kath Skerry
Just a few weeks after it was confirmed that Allyson Hannigan and her husband Alexis Denisof are expecting their first child, word comes today that the other female lead on HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER is also expecting.
Colbie Smulders, who plays Robin Scherbatsky, is expecting her first child with boyfriend Taran Killam.
What are they drinking over at HIMYM?
As far as storyline goes, Lily (Hannigan) and her husband Marshall (Jason Segal) recently decided against having a baby right now. Some fans (ok, maybe just me) figured it was just a deflection and the the onscreen twosome would be babying it up some time soon. But Robin having a baby brings a whole other dimension to the show.
Do you think the pregnancy will be hidden behind pillows? Smolders is due in late spring, so she’s going to be quite pregnant during the taping of the end of the season.
No matter what happens storywise, congrats to Cobie and Taran!!!
Thanks to Jamie for the tip!!

WOW! My prediction is they will write in the pregancy storyline for Lily, but not Robin. I think either/or storyline could work for the show…but it’s hard to believe that they would both have babies going forward into next season.
Maybe Robin will take an extended leave, like chasing after her dream job or something – so she’ll disappear for a little while? OR – we know that Robin and Ted get it on this season..so there is potential for Ted to be a Dad? Interesting!!
Congrats Cobie 🙂
Yikes! Too bad we already know she’s ‘Aunt Robin’ or they could have fabulous fun with a double pregnancy on the show and the boys catering to their every need. :0) I don’t think they’ll write hers in, but I know they find fabulous and hilarious ways to cover it! (Let’s hope that at least one of them involves some baggy 80’s clothing and another music video…)
I don’t think that it could work storywise for Robin. While I don’t think they’ve explicitly said that Robin never has children, it has been heavily implied.
Ι am not suге ωhere you’re getting your info, but good topic. I needs to spend some time learning much more or understanding more. Thanks for magnificent info I was looking for this info for my mission.
