Tonight’s TV Spotlight: Wednesday, January 7, 2009
January 7, 2009 by Kath Skerry
Until LOST kicks into gear on the 21st, Wednesday night’s are a pretty quiet TV night for me. Wednesdays used to be my special night since it was PUSHING DAISIES night, but since ABC hasn’t yet announced when it will be airing the last three PUSHING DAISIES eps (just give me a minute…sigh) I don’t have much going on.
A few housekeeping matters this morning…
With little TV to watch, it’s a perfect time for a TV chat!! Join us at 8pm tonight in The Living Room for the first new LIVE GMMR chat. I hope you guys stop by…if not I’m going to be talking to myself and that’s never healthy. Go over to The Living Room right now and set your reminder for 8pm tonight.
Baby News…
Congrats to Jennifer Garner & Ben Affleck on the birth of their daughter. Nice work Agent Bristow!!
Mascot (www.mymascot.com)
And one last thing before we get into tonight’s TV spotlight. I want to wish best of luck to my good friends Stephanie and Jeff who are on the way to the set of THE MARTHA STEWART show right now. Martha is doing a segment all about their dogware company, Mascot. (If you have a dog, you must check it out). The episode will be airing on the 12th and you better believe it’s going to be a GMMR TV Spotlight. Good luck Stepha and Jeff…and Max, Lola, Riley, and Milo. Can’t wait to see the show!
Ok on to TV…What will YOU be watching tonight?
13: Fear Is Real | 8pm on The CW | Series Premiere
“Meet the Mastermind”
Thirteen people compete to “stay alive” as they face their deepest fears in an all-out elimination competition and scare-fest. The competition begins in the Louisiana Bayou, where two contestants are buried alive. [GMMR: I’ll have a little more on this show later this morning so check back soon.]
The 35th Annual People’s Choice Awards | 9pm on CBS
At Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, a viewer poll determines favorites in television, movies and music; Queen Latifah hosts; Carrie Underwood and Rascal Flatts perform. [GMMR: My least favorite of all the award shows since the nominations are always a bit ‘huh?’. At least this year the stars will be there to accept unlike last year when the show pulled up lame due to the writers strike.]
Damages | 10pm on FX | Season Premiere
“I Lied, Too”
When a man from her past calls, Patty finds herself entangled in a case with personal and professional repercussions. [GMMR: I’m averting my eyes as I post this episode description. I’ve still got 4 episodes left to watch in S1. I’ll catch up. I promise. No spoilers, thank you very much.]
Barbara Walters Special | 10pm on ABC
Patrick Swayze and his wife, Lisa Niemi, will sit down with Barbara Walters and talk candidly about Patrick’s diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. He’ll address the rumors surrounding his health that have plagued the tabloids. [GMMR: Nobody puts Baby in a corner. I think this might be too sad for me to watch. ]
Also playing…
- Law & Order | 10pm on NBC: While investigating the murder of two divorce lawyers, detectives Lupo and Bernard uncover a child slave trade ring.
- Top Chef | 10pm on Bravo: Contestants must make a sweet treat without using sugar.
GMMR’s Useless Tidbit of the Day…
“The Hoover Dan was built to last two thousand years. The concrete in it will not be fully cured for another five hundred years.”

Is there a red carpet for the awards tonight? Are you going to dish on it in the LR at 8?
I think there is a red carpet. If people want to chat through the PCAs then I’ll keep it open.
According to Ausiello, ABC might not be airing the final PD episodes at all.

ABC seems to just keep kicking the show and its fans.
I want to meet Hoover Dan! At least, I want him to clean up at my place.
