Vote for TRAILER TRASH Today!
January 13, 2009 by Kath Skerry
With the success of DR. HORRIBLE and THE GUILD, web-produced shows are becoming more main stream. Viewers are consuming their entertainment more and more in the online space and the line has become increasingly blurred between shows that are network produced and those done through independent channels. And with the added freedom of an independent production, the entertainment value of the web series can sometimes be better than what the networks force on us.
New web series, including the upcoming Josh Schwartz production, “Rockville” (debuting in March on TheWB.com), are in the works and you should expect more and more “mainstream” TV makers coming to play on the internet.
In the spirit of embracing the web TV, I wanted to bring your attention to “Trailer Trash“, a show that puts the ‘review’ in ‘preview’. “Trailer Trash” reviews the latest and greatest Hollywood trailers. Trailers you ask? Yes, trailers. Let’s face it, if the filmmakers can’t make a good 2 minute trailer than do you really trust them with 2 hours on the big screen? Hell no. Let the “Trailer Trash” hosts and correspondents do the heavy lifting and watch the trailer for you. Based on the trailers the movies will either bed “hitched” or “ditched”.
From time to time the “Trailer Trash” correspondents, like my friend Jennifer Eolin, will actually see the movie and determine if the “hitch” or “ditch” holds up.
Jennifer Eolin. Why does that name sound familiar? Well because it’s THE very Jennifer Eolin that has from time to time written those hilarious (seriously side splitting hilarious) PROJECT RUNWAY recaps on GMMR. For those of you in L.A., Jennifer also writes the very funny “One More Thing” letters in the L.A. Times Sunday Magazine and on her blog (www.myspace.com/jennifereolin). It’s through Jennifer that I was first introduced to “Trailer Trash”.
“Trailer Trash” was originally an independent pilot produced for television, but with the 2007-2008 WGA strike the creators ventured into turning the show into an independent webseries. In all, eleven episodes were created this last year (a 12th, and possibly the final episode, is soon to be shot and released).
Here’s Jennifer in two TT episodes.
Vote for TRAILER TRASH Today!
Ok GMMRers. I don’t ask you for much, but today I’m asking you to do me a solid and vote for “Trailer Trash” in the upcoming Streamy Awards. Jennifer and I would be extremely grateful. And not for nothing but I’ve heard rumors of things that Jennifer does for those who help her out, and I’m just saying you don’t want to miss out. (I’m not promising anything but let’s just say that those of you over the legal age should be excited). I kid of course, but we would both be extremely pleased if you would take just a minute or two out of your day to vote.

YES!!!!! Please vote for Jennifer Eolin. Make her mother so proud. Well, even more proud than she already is to have a daughter who is a known “Street Walker.”
Thanks, Mom! I think? 😉
And THANK YOU, GMMR! YAY!
And PS – the website to enter when voting is “www.trailertrash.biz” – that’s right, it’s a “biz,” not an “org.” Big diff.
