It’s Back to Work for THE OFFICE

January 15, 2009 by

THE OFFICE is back tonight.  I feel like I should be doing a jig or some other kind of dance that properly expresses my joy.  It’s been a loooong time since we’ve had a new episode and I don’t know about you but I’m ready to see what 2009 has in store for our friends at Dunder Mifflin.

To celebrate I thought I would dedicate a whole post to all things THE OFFICE. A throwback to the old OFFICE Thursdays on GMMR.

Tonight on THE OFFICE…
“The Duel”: The office is on eggshells because Andy still hasn’t found out about fiancee Angela’s affair with Dwight. When Michael spills the beans, Dwight and Andy take matters into their own hands. Meanwhile, Michael is nervous about being called down to corporate for a meeting with Wallace.

Some Casting News…

Thesp Idris Elba has been cast on “The Office” as a new rival to Dunder Mifflin regional manager Michael Scott (Steve Carell).

Elba, most recently seen in Guy Ritchie’s “Rocknrolla,” will appear in six episodes later this season. Details are slim on his plot line, other than he’ll play a no-nonsense hire at Dunder Mifflin’s corporate office who will throw Michael Scott into turmoil. (Variety)

ET Goes Behind-the-Scenes of THE OFFICE
ET talks to some of the cast about what’s in store for their characters.  Do Jenna and John think Jim and Pam will ever make it to the alter?  How does Angela view Andy vs. Dwight. And some of the cast does a little singing along the way.

Best of luck John Krasinski
On Monday, January 19th, BRIEF INTERVIEWS WITH HIDEOUS MEN will have its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival. The movie, written and produced and starring John Krasinski, was one of the 16 films chosen by Sundance in the drama category.

Soon enough the reviews will start pouring in, but for now I thought I would share this brief summation:

“Motivated by all the right reasons, Krasinski’s reverence and passion for the book resounds as he crafts a film that is sure to inspire heated conversations. He also displays his deft ability in front of—and behind—the camera.”

This movie has been a long time coming and I can’t wait to see it. Best of luck John!!!

Jenna Fischer on the Cover of SELF Magazine
Jenna Fischer looks STUNNING on the cover of this month’s SELF Magazine.  Inside Jenna gives an update on SELF’s 10-day challenge that motivated Jenna to live a happier, healthier life.

Jenna talks about making delicious meals in a crockpot; not wearing sweats to work; her New Year’s resolutions and why leaving her BlackBerry well enough alone she had a lot more fun with Jim Halpert and Phyllis & Bob Vance.

Definitely head over to Self.com for a behind-the-scenes look at Jenna’s cover shoot and why the creative directors of Self thought Jenna was so awesome (hint: it’s something we have all known for quite some time). (Self.com)

I am so excited to have our show back but I think I am a little more excited that String is going to be on future shows. He was so good on The Wire. I just hope he ends up taking Jan/Ryan’s old position over at corporate. I’m having all kinds of fun imagining Stringer Bell being Michael Scott’s boss.

I’m so happy to have The Office back! And what a great episode…loved it! Although I don’t have tickets to John’s movie at Sundance, I still plan on heading to Park City and the theater for the premier on Monday with the hopes of catching a glimpse of the man. Crossing my fingers!!
