This was, mostly, what I call a bridge episode. There wasn’t a lot of action, but all of the plotlines got moved along to their new springboards for the next phase of the series. Let’s get started with a little clarification of the rules on “24.” Be warned there is a huge spoiler in the next paragraph, so if you haven’t seen last night’s episode stop reading now!.
According to Wiki 24 (24.wikia.com), the silent clock is used to, “punctuate highly emotional scenes, surrounding the death of a significant character.” It does NOT automatically mean that someone has died. Previous instances of the silent clock, aside from Teri, Chapelle and Edgar dying, include the attempted suicide of President Palmer by Mandy, and the final moments of both Season 6 and “Redemption.” So, I am going on record that I don’t think Renee is dead. I think that the silent clock is being used against us.
Alright…now that that’s settled…
How I Met Your Mother: Three Days of Snow

Do you ever feel that sometimes the writers of your favorite shows have secret footage of you, watch it over and over, research every minute detail and then craft an entire episode that revolves around just you? This episode seemed handcrafted just for me. Travel ritual – check. Snow – check. Bar – check. Even the title of the bar/band “Puzzles” has significance to me!
Ted and Barney
Barney and Ted meet some college girls on the street and ask them to meet up with them the next night at McClarens. The girls warn of snow, but the guys don’t seem to be too worried. Fast forward to the next night and the blizzard of 2009.
Carl wants to close up McClaren’s but Ted and Barney insist that the girls are meeting them and the bar can’t close. In what would turn out to be a foolish move, Carl turns the keys of the bar over to Ted and Barney and tells them they can stay there until the girls arrive, but then they’re going to have to leave.
Big mistake.

Good morning all. I hope your Monday wasn’t too rough (mine was definitely a little shaky, but I’ve survived). Are you ready for some Tuesday night TV? The TV lineup looks a little different tonight given all the Inauguration festivities. Choose wisely.
Two bits of housekeeping before we move on. Due to some spamming and some trolling, I had to put the comments in moderation for now. I’ll due my very best to approve them as soon as they come in, but I wanted to give you the heads up.
And more importantly, Comcast blows and because of them I missed GOSSIP GIRL yet again last night. That’s two weeks in a row. I’m going to get caught up on iTunes at some point, and hopefully it will be fixed my next Monday. But that’s why there’s no GOSSIP GIRL discussion today. Sorry.
On to Tuesday TV. What will YOU be watching?
Special Inauguration Coverage
The Neighborhood Ball: An Inauguration Celebration | 8pm on ABC
President Barack Obama hosts the first Neighborhood Ball; Beyoncé, Mary J. Blige, Mariah Carey, Faith Hill, Jay-Z, Alicia Keys, Shakira and Stevie Wonder are scheduled to perform.
Change and Challenge: The Inauguration of Barack Obama | 9pm on CBS
Barack Obama’s journey to the White House; highlights of the day’s activities; Americans share their stories of the inauguration.
Dateline NBC | 10pm on NBC

Reports from the inaugural galas, with highlights of the night’s biggest events.
A Moment in History: The Inauguration of Barack Obama | 10pm on ABC
Highlights from the many inaugural balls; journalists share their thoughts on the significance of the day.
Other Tuesday TV…
American Idol | 8pm on Fox
The auditions continue in San Francisco. [GMMR: Due to some technical glitches, we didn’t get to talk about IDOL last week. That will change. We’ll be talking about it tomorrow. But what do you think of the auditions so far. Some talented people went through to Hollywood. And surprisingly a few not so talented are also going. I haven’t formed an opinon on new judge Kara yet, but she’s definitely not another Paula and I like that.]
Privileged | 9pm on The CW
“All About the Big Picture”
Will suggests that Megan separate herself from her family’s problems; Rose’s boyfriend gets upset when he sees a picture of Sage, Rose and Pete Wentz at a nightclub; Megan meets Will’s parents. [GMMR: Fingers crossed that The CW is working tonight. I’m not counting on it though.]
Fringe | 9pm on Fox
“Bound”
Olivia’s sister, Rachel (Ari Graynor), visits; Walter, Peter and Olivia try to solve the murder of an esteemed epidemiologist, which may be linked to Olivia’s abduction. [GMMR: Pacey Peter you’re back. I’ve missed you.]
Also playing…
- 90210 | 8pm on The CW: Adrianna makes a revelation; Annie is surprised to learn that Ty will also be auditioning for the new school play; Ryan has an unpleasant encounter with Kelly and Silver; Dixon asks Debbie for relationship advice.
- The Biggest Loser | 8pm on NBC: Fireworks erupt when a team reunion does not go as planned; contestants check in with the doctor to measure their progress; a wild jump-rope challenge leads to immunity for the winner; one contestant is eliminated.
- Leverage | 10pm on TNT: All the evidence the team seeks to expose a cover-up is on a plane heading to the Cayman Islands; airborne, the team uncovers a more sinister situation.

The Top 100 Blogs that Waste My Time…in the Best Possible Way
January 19, 2009 by Kath Skerry
Filed under #1 featured, TV Blog Banter, TV News
Ever feel like there’s just nothing new online? There are millions of websites and blogs out there but sometimes I feel like I just keep going back to the same sites over and over again. I’m not complaining…there are a lot of great sites in my repertoire, but sometimes a girl needs a little something new in her life, right?
In an effort to share the internet love, I thought I would pull together a list of the Top 100 blogs I visit when I’m looking to waste time online. Of course these sites aren’t a waste of time but rather informative, fun and even some important sites that might make your next online experience just a little more interesting.
The list below is made of some sites I recently discovered, but most of them I’ve been checking out for years…out of habit. The list is mostly self indulgent as I get to share my online faves, but it’s also selfishly a way to find new sites that I might not have otherwise known about. So read my list and then share YOUR favorite blogs in the comments below. Maybe we’ll all learn a little something which in turn will make us perhaps that much less productive. Deal?
If your blog didn’t make the list, please don’t think I don’t read it or appreciate all the work that you put into it. I’m such a web geek that this list could easily be 200 blogs without batting an eye. But I wanted to include a real mix of subject matters and genres. That being said, there is a certain trend towards TV and entertainment related gossip sites. Can’t help it…sista knows what she likes.
Not too much criteria for this list. The blogs listed are ones that I go to often enough that they are either (a) in my bookmarks or (b) top of mind, and all contain a certain level of addictability. Not much too it other than that.
The following blogs are in no particular order (because seriously that would take hours, and to be honest I’m just trying to kill some time on a Sunday night).
- Give Me My Remote – Whatevs. You know it’s going to be on the list. But it deserved to be because GMMR is the single biggest website time suck (good and bad) in my life.
- Fail Blog – Epic fails and occasional wins. This site won’t be found in my list of bookmarks on my office computer. I have enough fails at work as it is. But the real reason I don’t check it at work is that I love to come home, settle in and check out this site as a reward for lasting another day at the office.
- Facebook – If you’re on Facebook then you know how addicting it can be. The voyeuristic nature of this site can keep me entertained for hours.
- Wikipedia – Try searching for one thing and you might find yourself there for hours. I know it’s not always accurate but it’s a fun place to start learning.
- Perez Hilton – Yup, I’ll admit it. I’m there about 100 times throughout the day. And every time I visit there is new content. That’s impressive. Usually mean, but impressive.
- TV Squad – A great site for TV recaps. Not sure how many people are working for this site, but at the rate they turn out show recaps I would assume they have quite a few busy little TV watchers.
- Mini Putt – Old school but still all kinds of awesome! Tiger Woods may not be your golf partner in this game, but then again you don’t have to stand up to play, so that’s a win right?!
- Watch with Kristin – Where it all began. The site which is most directly responsible for the existence of GMMR. What can I say…I love me some KDS.
- Ducky Does TV – Not only my BBF (best blogger friend) but also one helluva funny writer. You love him on the TV Talk Podcast, and now you have to make sure you are reading his site.

Highlights from the Obama Inauguration Concert

Flipping through the channels yesterday afternoon I stumbled upon the Inauguration Concert live from Washington, D.C..I didn’t really know anything about it, but when I saw Bruce Springsteen take the stage to perform “The Rising” backed by a full choir I was fully hooked.
Over the next few hours there were amazing musical performances complimented by readings of some of the most inspiring speeches of all time. And then of course was Jamie Foxx’s dead on impression of the President-elect.
U2, Steve Wonder, Usher, Jon Bon Jovi, Josh Groban – they were all there. But for me it was seeing Garth Brooks take the stage to lead the crowd in “American Pie”, “Shout” and his own “We Shall Be Free” that really made me smile. And of course Beyonce’s rendition of “America the Beautiful” was stunning.
A wonderful concert to kick off a historic weekend. You can watch the concert on HBO.com or check out encore performances today at 1pm ET/PT and 9:30pm ET/PT.
Here were just a few of the musical highlights for me.

Time to clean out the TiVo because you’ve got a lot of TV ahead of you tonight. Are you prepared? I can’t say that I am, but I’m going to try my very best.
If the normal Monday lineup wasn’t crowded enough, Fox has decided to move HOUSE to Monday nights. I can’t say that I’m too pleased with Fox right now. Seriously, Mondays?! Desperate Housewives: The Best Thing That Ever Could Have Happened
January 19, 2009 by Tricia
Filed under #1 featured, Desperate Housewives, Posts by Tricia
Let me just start with this: I think that this might have been the best Desperate Housewives episode ever. Really. The writing was fantastic and it the perfect 100th episode. Can you believe that it’s been 100 episodes? It feels like just yesterday that I was watching the premiere and loving it.
The concept of this episode was each of the girls’ having flashbacks that were based around times their handyman, Eli Scruggs helped them through difficult times in their lives. The episode kicked off with Eli announcing his retirement and fixing a loose shingle on Susan’s roof right before he suffered a heart attack. Juanita found him an hour later. Over a poker game, the girls’ began to remember the times he helped them.
Crusoe: Hunting Party

Filed under #1 featured, Posts by Meredith
When a mysterious islander cuts off a lock of Crusoe’s hair, he’s determined to track him down and find out why he’s on the island. Crusoe thinks the islander is a cannibal, but after looking at a medallion left behind by the stranger, Friday tells him that it’s not the case – the stranger is a member of a tribe that protected his village from other cannibals. To Friday, they are the equivalent of royalty.
After the tribe members locate Crusoe again and fight and chase him through the forest, they eventually capture him and bring him to the shore where the chief ties him up. The tribe is looking for Crusoe because they assume Friday is his slave. The tribe’s chief was once a slave, which he said ruined his spirit. As revenge, he wants Crusoe dead. When Friday and Crusoe both tell the chief that Friday is definitely not a slave, he tells them to fight to the death to prove it. Of course neither of them will do it, so as they fight they manage to capture the chief. After they drag him into the forest, they pretend to stab him and then they escape to the tree house while they leave the chief screaming and thinking he’s wounded. Of course, the guys don’t stay alone for long because the chief and the rest of the tribe members find them. It’s then a fight to the death as Crusoe and Friday fight the chief and the rest of the tribe members. They are eventually able to load the chief into the gondola that carries their garbage to the compost pile. They send the gondola down the zipline where it hits a tree and they dump him into the compost pile. Defeated, the rest of the tribe members leave.
