Joaquin Phoenix’s Bizarre Appearance on David Letterman

Did anyone happen to catch Joaquin Phoenix on Letterman last night? Someone needs an intervention. Phoenix was despondent and just plain out of it during the entire interview. Things got even more awkward and uncomfortable as the tension between Joaquin and David rose throughout the interview.
Joaquin talked about quitting the acting business to pursue his career as a rapper. There’s been some rumblings that this whole rapper thing is just a farce which is secretly being filmed for a documentary. But Joaquin insists he’s the real deal. Even Diddy backed him up last week about the rapping gig (which actually makes me believe that this is all a joke).
Allegedly family and friends of Joaquin have stated that his bizarre behavior as of late has more to do with his emerging substance abuse issue. Which if true is very sad, and even more so when you consider that Joaquin’s brother River was the victim of drug abuse himself.
Whether this was all an act or if Joaquin is just that big of an asshat, I defy you not to squirm while watching.

I always liked Joaquin – his brother’s death came at a time me and my school friends were just REALLY getting into being interested in hollywood – and River was very much on our radar – and for that reason I’ve always been interested in seeing what he does with his career.
This has done more than made me squirm – it seems almost a dark fortelling of his future, repeating his brothers mistakes… I seriously hope not, but from that evidence, it doesn’t look good.

i feel kind of sorry for Joaquin Phoenix because he does seem genuinely disoriented and Letterman gave him a hard time about it
I don’t think Joaquin is on anything. I found him funny the way he awkwardly answered Letterman’s ridiculous questions and Letterman was being an asshole. Even though it’s a shocker that Joaquin has quit acting and started a career in rapping, doesn’t make it right for letterman to shoot him down by saying he won’t be performing on his stage, that wasn’t funny it was rude. Plus the audience were acting like a bunch of idiots, laughing more at Joaquin. I feel Joaquin started off acting strange for a laugh and then when the audience and Letterman started getting ridiculous and taking stabs at him he got upset and turned off, as would I. So people should start looking at how strange Letterman’s behavior was, not Joaquins.

You could definitely see your enthusiasm in the paintings you write. The arena hopes for even more passionate writers like you who aren’t afraid to mention how they believe. Always follow your heart.
I don’t know whether it is just me or if perhaps every person else encountering issues with your site. It appears like some with the written text inside your posts are running off the screen.
