Tonight’s TV Spotlight…Monday, March 16, 2009
March 16, 2009 by Kath Skerry
I’ve rested up and I think I’m prepared for tonight’s TV lineup. As disappointed as I am that CHUCK is a rerun tonight, at least we’ve got Josh Schwartz’s other show – GOSSIP GIRL – returning…although I didn’t love tonight’s episode at all. And with new episodes of all other Monday night favorites, I’m thinking it’s going to be a pretty great TV night. Oh and don’t forget about CASTLE. I might not have loved the pilot but I’m willing to give it another go tonight.
Weekend Update with GMMR…
I was out of town all weekend at a friend’s wedding so the TV watching was at a minimum. And by at a minimum I mean I didn’t watch any TV until I got home last night. I powered through a lot and hope to see finished before the onslaught of Monday night TV starts. I still haven’t watched DOLLHOUSE but I did manage to catch up on two weeks of BATTLESTAR. Now I just need to find the time to blog about it. Here’s to hoping I have an hour free at lunch today.
Ok on to Monday night’s TV extravaganza!
The Big Bang Theory | 8pm on CBS
“The Work Song Nanocluster”
Penny starts a hair-product business that suffers when her friends, particularly Sheldon, become involved.
Gossip Girl | 8pm on The CW
“The Age of Dissonance”
Serena develops a crush on the director of the school play; Blair gets devastating news about her future; Dan and Rachel have a hard time staying away from each other. [GMMR: We’ve been waiting a long time for the return of GOSSIP GIRL. Unfortunately the writers missed the mark with this episode. And next week’s too. We’ll talk about tonight’s ep more tomorrow when you’ve had a chance to watch but it’s just not good. It’s sloppy and way to much drama without GG’s signature wit. Disappointing.]
House | 8pm on Fox
“Here Kitty”
House sets out to disprove the allegations of a nursing home worker who feigns illness after being visited by the facility’s pet cat, which has a reputation for visiting people who are about to die.
How I Met Your Mother | 8:30pm on CBS
“The Front Porch“
Ted learns that not only did Lily plant another woman’s earring in his bed for Karen to find, she has meddled in some of his other relationships as well.
24 | 8pm on Fox
“Day 7: 9:00PM – 10:00PM”
Jonas Hodges (Jon Voight) emerges as Jack’s latest adversary; the fight to avert more terror attacks continues. [GMMR: HEY! Where have all the 24 fans been? The weekly discussion has quieted down a lot as of late. Where are you people?!]
One Tree Hill| 9pm on The CW
“You and Me and the Bottle Makes Three Tonight”
Lucas and Peyton get startling news about the pregnancy; Haley and Nathan celebrate their anniversary while Deb and Dan baby-sit Jamie.
Castle | 10pm on ABC
“Nanny McDead”
The body of a nanny is found inside the dryer of a laundry room in an upscale apartment building where she worked; Castle tries to get inside Beckett’s head while writing the first novel in his Nikki Heat series. [GMMR: New CASTLE discussion on the site tomorrow so watch tonight!]
Also playing…
- Dancing with the Stars 8pm on ABC | Celebrities compete with their professional dance partners.
- The Secret Life of the American Teenager | 8pm on ABC Family: While awaiting the birth of her baby, Amy flashes back to when she first met Ricky while at band camp; Tom tells Jack that Grace misses him.
- Two and a Half Men | 9pm on CBS: Charlie fights the overwhelming urge to flee when Chelsea gets sick and he is forced to take care of her.
- Kyle XY | 9pm on ABC Family: Kyle vows to stop Cassidy and Latnok when he learns of their true plans for Adam’s experiment.
- Rules of Engagement | 9:30pm on CBS: Jeff is surprised to learn that his new friend (Orlando Jones) is gay; Russell fears the young woman he is dating might actually be his daughter.
- CSI: Miami | 10pm on CBS: The team investigates when a flight attendant is murdered.
Certainly a lot to choose from. Share YOUR Monday night TV lineup in the comments below.

Thank goodness no Chuck tonight (although I miss it terribly) as there’s a lot else to juggle.
I just want to thank you for talking about BBT on your podcasts because otherwise I would never have given it a chance. It’s a cute show and it’s on the DVR from now on!
Just HIMYM and BBT for me tonight, which is kinda nice actually.
HIMYM and BBT for sure. Curiously, I’ve found myself looking forward to Castle throughout the past week. It must be mostly Fillion-related, but nonetheless I’ll be tuning in again. I’ve heard episode two is an improvement over the pilot, and I didn’t hate the pilot. Although, I just noticed that the main character of his new series is Nikki Heat – seriously? Is she a stripper/detective? As a Nicole who has always hated being called Nicky, blech. Add Heat and it’s pretty vomitous. Lol, not a reason not to watch, but still….ew. 🙂
I missed my weekly dose of Chuck tonight, but it gave me the opportunity to catch House (which was pretty entertaining), and Castle – which is my new favourite thing!
