BONES: The Beaver in the Otter

Please join us in wishing Seeleybaby a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Before I forget, GMMR and I tossed around the idea of doing a live BONES chat NEXT THURSDAY, MAY 7th, at 8PM for The Critic in the Cabernet. We’d all hang out here and watch the episode. Sound like something you’re interested in? Let us know in the comments, and if there is interest, we’ll go for it. Tell your friends.
Tonight’s episode was about brothers. And while there was some of the ’Bros before Hos’ brotherhood going on, it was more about two fine Booth brothers in leather jackets working through some of their own deal. I am glad that Booth and Jared ended (for this episode at least) on good terms. And we also had a montage of Brennan examining bones, the likes of which we haven’t seen since season one. Speaking of season one…well, more on that later…
THE CASE:
During a college pep rally where some school spiriters have hung the costume of their rival’s mascot, the crowd pelts it with all kinds of homemade weapons, and the costume bursts to reveal human remains inside. Pretty gross, but not the grossest ever, for those of you keeping score at home. Turns out the body belongs to James Bouvier aka “Beaver” (even though, as Brennan points out, interestingly enough, “Bouvier” means “ox”. The show makes us smarter, doesn’t it.) It’s up to the team to find out who killed him, where and with what! Was it one of his frat bros? Was it a disgruntled professor of chemistry? Or was it someone else entirely?
T-Pain Joins Cast in First Ever Live-Action Episode of AQUA TEEN HUNGER FORCE

I can’t say that I watch a lot of Adult Swim (although that will be changing when they start airing episodes of the UK version of THE OFFICE), I have a lot of friends who do. If you’re a fan of AQUA TEEN HUNGER FORCE then you might want to check out the first ever live action episode airing on May 31st. Joining the cast will be rapper T-Pain. But of course.
Here’s more from the recent press release:
After more than 80 animated episodes of the Adult Swim hit Aqua Teen Hunger Force, creators Matt Maiellaro and Dave Willis have developed the first-ever live-action episode. To mark the occasion, they turned to none-other-than Grammy-winning southern soulster and rapper T-Pain to portray the Aqua Teen’s only sane and rational roommate Frylock, whose animated form looks much like a floating box of French fries. Starring as the Aqua Teen’s self-appointed leader Master Shake will be actor Jon Benjamin. The lovable and remarkably stupid Meatwad will be live as well but bare a striking resemblance to an exercise ball, and first-time television actor Dave Long Jr. has been tapped to play the Aqua Teen’s obnoxious neighbor Carl after a lengthy nationwide search. The new season of Aqua Teen Hunger Force, which continues throughout May on Sunday nights, will conclude with this first-ever live-action episode on Sunday, May 31 at 11:45 p.m. (ET/PT).

File this one under the category of “Fantastic”.
It’s just been announced that ABC shows (and those within the extended ABC family) such as LOST, GREY’S ANATOMY, JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE, GREEK, and many others will start airing on Hulu soon.
If you’re not using Hulu you should definitely check it out. Personally I think it offers the best user experience for viewing TV online. I’m thrilled to now be able to watch my ABC shows their as well. Now if only CBS would get off their keister and play nice with the other networks.
Here’s an excerpt from the press release, the whole of which can be found after the jump.
“From our landmark iTunes deal to our pioneering decision to stream ad supported shows on our ABC.com player, Disney has sought to meet the constantly evolving viewing habits of our consumers, and today’s Hulu announcement is the next important step in that ongoing journey,” said Robert A. Iger, president and CEO, The Walt Disney Company. “Disney and Hulu share a focus on delivering the highest-quality entertainment experience and we look forward to working with Hulu to build value for our consumers, our brands and our shareholders.”
“We’re honored to welcome the Disney team in our mission to help people find and enjoy the world’s premium content, when, where and how they want it,” said Jason Kilar, CEO of Hulu. “With the addition of shows like Lost, Desperate Housewives, Grey’s Anatomy and many more to Hulu, we continue to aspire to deliver a service that users, advertisers and content owners unabashedly love.”
Following the closing, content available to Hulu users will include:
- Full-length episodes of ABC primetime programs like Lost, Grey’s Anatomy, Desperate Housewives, Ugly Betty, Samantha Who?, Scrubs, Private Practice and popular late night talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live
- Full-length episodes of hit ABC Family series like The Secret Life of the American Teenager and Greek
- Popular series from ABC Daytime and SOAPnet like General Hospital and The View
- Classic series from ABC’s library like Hope & Faith, Less than Perfect, Commander in Chief, Who Wants To Be a Millionaire and Dancing with the Stars
- Select hit programs from Disney Channel like Wizards of Waverly Place and Phineas and Ferb which can be easily accessed from a new DISNEY location in the Channel section of Hulu.com
- Popular library titles from The Walt Disney Studios
- Short-form content including webisodes, sneak peeks and episode recaps from ABC Entertainment, ABC Family and SOAP

CNN Covers the Save CHUCK Efforts

The support and coverage of the Save CHUCK campaign continues even past the show’s final Season 2 episode. Check out CNN’s story: ‘Save Chuck’ latest in campaigns to rescue favorite shows‘.
I spoke with CNN reporter Lisa Respers France last week about the efforts and connected her with Josh Schwartz and Ryan McPartlin who also weighed in on the efforts. And it seems that Ryan knows exactly what it’s like to be a fan sitting on the other side of the TV set:
“There’s something about knowing what time and day of the week your [favorite] show is going to be on and the comfort of that regardless of what’s going on in your life,” he [McPartlin] said. “This is crunch time, and we’ve got to do what we can.”
Barring some mental and emotional break down during which I do something tragic and newsworthy, I’m going to venture to bet that this is the only time I’m going to get a mention on CNN.com
Keep on CHUCKing…
The NBC Upfronts take place on May 5th in NYC. That’s when we’ll expect to hear the fate of CHUCK. Until that time, please continue to support the show by watching it on Hulu, buying Chuck – The Complete First Season on DVD and pre-ordering Chuck: The Complete Second Season on DVD. Keep reaching out to NBC in whatever way possible. Continue visiting ChuckTV.net, Zachery-Levi.com as well other of your favorite fan sites 100% dedicated to CHUCK for the latest news and what you can continue to do to help. It’s not over until Jeffster sings the final song on their farewell tour.

Spend some time cleaning out that DVR this morning because there’s a good chance that little machine is going to have to do some pretty heavy lifting tonight. A Thursday night full to the brim with TV goodness.
I have plans after work so I’m already dreading the late night ahead of me. This whole having a life thing doesn’t bode well with my GMMR duties. Geesh.
For all your fans, UGLY BETTY returns tonight after a mini-hiatus. ABC brought the show back to the schedule earlier than expected so YAY if you’re a fan. I’ve been a little off BETTY for a while but I’ll probably watch tonight. The storylines were just becoming so so repetitive that I was getting annoyed. But, a girl can only go so long without a Marc and Amanda fix, so I’ll check it out.
Looking forward to the 1-2-3 punch of PARKS & RECREATION, THE OFFICE and 30 ROCK. Oh and I guess the 4 punch (although it doesn’t quite sound as good) of SOUTHLAND. Here’s to hoping P&R kicks it up a little this week. And if you’re not watching SOUTHLAND you should consider giving it a shot. I’m not for cop shows but this one is pretty decent.
If you’re looking for HARPER’S ISLAND tonight you’re not going to find it. CBS moved the show to Saturday. Execs say it’s because the online streaming numbers & the DVR numbers are so high. Seems people want to watch the show but just can’t do it on Thursday nights. Interesting.
That and much much more tonight on a TV near you.

Izzie gets a surprise visit from her mother (Sharon Lawrence); Thatcher tries to make amends with Meredith and Lexie; Meredith and the Chief argue over a controversial case. If you’re looking to find out who won the American Idol season finale tonight- Adam or Kris – please click here: Who Won AMERICAN IDOL Tonight? (May 20, 2009)
PREVIOUS POST
I’m in a little bit of AMERICAN IDOL shock tonight. Not at home but remote blogging tonight’s results so sorry for the hasty updates.
After some blabber (that didn’t include a recap of last night’s performances, unfortunately) Ryan split the remaining five contestants into groups. Danny & Allison on one side of the stage. Kris & Matt on the other, leaving Adam to choose which group he thought was safe. He moved to stand with Allison & Danny. He was wrong…well kind of. Danny & Allison were indeed safe, but Adam wasn’t. WHAT?! Completely stunned.
Yes, tonight’s bottom three are Adam Lambert, Kris Allen and Matt Giraud.

Holy Shmoly! Tomorrow is the last day of April. How did that happen? I’ll be honest with you, this time of year is not good for bloggers like me (meaning bloggers who do this as a side gig rather than a full time job). The weather is getting nicer and it’s really hard to justify staying inside to watch TV and blog. I don’t want to wish for a weekend of rain, but it might be the only way I get to catch up. That reminds me…I need to play the lottery tonight. Maybe then I’ll be able to do this blogging this full time.
GLEEful…
Did anyone happen to catch the GLEE promo during IDOL last night? A comment from GMMR made it into the promo! I know it’s kind of lame to post this, but I’d be lying if I wasn’t a little excited.
On to tonight’s TV…
Presidential News Conference | 8pm on ABC, CBS & NBC
President Obama takes to the air waves in prime time tonight. I know, I know…it’s important to hear from our President. But why can’t he be on during the 7pm hour? Seriously. No one would care if Billy Bush or Mario Lopez got bumped. This speech better be good if it’s bumping the season finale of BETTER OFF TED. And I mean good…like they’ve solved the economic crisis, found a cure of swine flu, renewed CHUCK, and saved the auto industry good.
Lie to Me | 8pm on Fox
“Undercover”
An undercover cop chasing a drug suspect mistakenly shoots an innocent teen, and Cal is hired to determine the man’s intentions. Meanwhile, Loker’s lie during a recent Ponzi-scheme investigation could come back to haunt him (and Torres as well) when Cal tells them that they’ll be deposed in a lawsuit over the matter. [GMMR: Seems like Fox is giving the ‘ol shun to Obama and not airing his press conference. How very CW of you. I’ve heard rumors that ‘Lie to Me’ will air and that it won’t, but it’s still listed on Fox’s site so I’m going with it.]
American Idol | 9pm on Fox
One contestant is faced with elimination; former “American Idol” winner Taylor Hicks performs a song from his latest album. [GMMR: Here’s to hoping The Gokey…or Matt Giraud goes home tonight. Taylor Hicks – this should be interesting.]
Lost | 9pm on ABC
“The Variable”
Faraday discloses what he knows about the island, beginning a time of reckoning. Eloise Hawking: Fionnula Flanagan. [GMMR: So excited!]
The Unusuals | 10pm on ABC
“42“
Cole gets a disturbing call from Frank Lutz; Delahoy and Banks investigate a series of bank robberies. [GMMR: I’m still not watching. At this point it’s ridiculous to think that I’ll get caught up. Oh well, can’t watch ’em all.]
Criminal Minds | 10pm on CBS
“The Big Wheel”
A serial killer (Alex O’Loughlin) sends the team a videotape, detailing one of his crimes and asking them to help him stop his murderous ways. [GMMR: Expect this show to see a big bump from MOONLIGHT fans. Well, maybe not that big. I suppose if there were that many MOONLIGHT fans it wouldn’t have been canceled. Am I right?]
Also Playing…
- America’s Next Top Model | 8pm on The CW: The five remaining contestants try to impress five different designers throughout the city.
- CSI:NY | 10pm on CBS: The most exclusive jewelry auction of the year comes to an abrupt end when one of the appraisers is killed, forcing the CSI team to confront one of the greatest tragedies in human history.
- Law & Order | 10pm on NBC: Detective Bernard and Lupo’s investigation into a series of hate crimes against Hispanic men leads to controversy.
May I ask…what will YOU be watching?

Still swooning over Kris Allen’s performance of “The Way You Look Tonight”. I still get the feeling that the producers want The Gokey in the finals with Adam more than they do Kris. I don’t understand why. I think Kris has a much broader appeal as a “package artist”. Oh well. Here’s to hoping the rest of the voting audience is loving him as much as I am.

Adam Lambert: ‘Feeling Good’ on Rat Pack Night

While not my favorite performance of the night, Adam Lambert is still dazzling. I wish he wouldn’t rely on the screeching as his go to. We know he can hit those notes. He’s done it many, many times. It seems to me that the performances in which he doesn’t rely on screeching in his upper register seem to be the more special numbers.
This kid has the flair for the dramatic. Loved his sassy entrance.
What did YOU think of Adam’s performance last night?
AMERICAN IDOL Top 5 Performances
April 29, 2009 by Kath Skerry
Filed under #1 featured, American Idol, American Idol Recap, TV News
One of the bad things about daring to have a life on IDOL night is that I’m inevitably spoiled by the reviews on Twitter. And yes it’s possible that I just not check Twitter to avoid being spoilerd, I said it’s possible…not that I would do it.
So here we are at 11:15pm on Tuesday and my IDOL night is just beginning. Here’s to hoping my exhaustion doesn’t taint my thoughts on the performances.
It’s Rat Pack night. All the IDOL get to play dress up and pretend their Frank or Sammy. Not sure what to expect, but at least we’ll see some good duds.
Tonight’s mentor was a bit of mystery to the contestants. No one knew who it could be. As Kris mentioned, it’s Rat Pack week and all those people are…dead. So who could it be? Yikes, it’s Jamie Foxx. I’m not a Jamie hater but no one likes to hear the sound of his own voice more than Jamie Foxx. And despite his many accomplishments I still see Jamie Foxx as Wanda from “In Living Color”.
iTunes Standings..
Before we get to the singing, did y’all hear of the supposed iTunes slip up this week. Apparently there was some kind of glitch over at iTunes and for a short period of time the sales number for the Idols were made public. This is something IDOL and iTunes keeps underwraps so as not to influcene the voting public.
So how did our IDOL’s fair? It should come as no surprise that Adam Lambert was leading the IDOL races with 6 of the top 10 downloads. But what is surprising to most (but not me) was that Kris Allen was second in line with 3 songs in the top 10. Seems like everyone expected The Gokey to be there. Not the case. He only had 1 song on the charts. Looks like I’m not the only one loving Kris Allen. Let’s hope this “glitch” wasn’t planned – the producers do love Danny. God, I’m so cynical.
Kris Allen
Back to the music. Kicking things off tonight is Mr. #2 himself, Kris Allen, with “The Way You Look Tonight”. Jamie declared that Kris is his #1. He wants to do a record with him. Oh I like that Jamie Foxx…ha ha. Um. Yeah. Sorry, I’m not sure I even heard the performance, I was too lost in the haze of my heart. That boy makes me swoon. Actually I thought the performance was fantastic. The arrangement, alternating from the swooning to the sway was really interesting. I’ll be adding that one to my Kris Allen iTunes mix.
Randy thought this was Kris’s best performance to date. I don’t know about that but I’ll take it! Kara said he set the technical standard incredibly high. Kris looks floored. Paula called him a “contemporary crooner”. Simon thought the performance was “wet”. (Whatever that means). He didn’t get the feeling tonight that Kris could win it all. Listen, I’m not sure he can either, I think Adam has this wrapped up, but I think Adam can make it to the final two.
HOUSE: House Divided
April 28, 2009 by Erik Wilkinson
Filed under #1 featured, House, House Recap, Posts by Erik
Like many long running dramas, House has an audience that eagerly awaits interesting plot developments and payoffs to long term storylines. Aside from taking a few baby steps toward Dr. House’s inevitable breakdown, this week provided little fodder for viewers who like to put those complicated puzzle pieces together. Instead, the House team continued on the lighthearted course that was charted following Kutner’s death, and gave us a carnival-style bonanza of playful material.
Writers Matthew V. Lewis and Liz Friedman crafted a script that called on Princeton Plainsboro’s finest physicians to embrace their wildest inhibitions, and explore territory that is not often explored on medical programs, namely laughter and smiles.
For my money, the funniest image of this television season arrived in the form of Hugh Laurie dancing to Public Enemy’s “Fight the Power.” The sunglasses, the boombox resting perfectly on his shoulder, the confident strut, what more could you want? After cheering up his patient, and uncovering a new symptom in the process, the pill popping rapper to be unleashed a few more of his greatest hits.
- Adding the “Broken Cowboy” to the list of required skills for Chase’s strippers
- “That’s the one that got me hooked up with Madoff”
- Homemade Booze Ice Cream, which sounds like a great party favor
- “Cuddy wants to avoid a lawsuit…and win an NAACP award”
- Practicing his bartending skills, all while channeling Tom Cruise from “Cocktail”
- “BY THE POWER OF GREYSKULL!” As a He-Man junkie, I was delighted
- Holding Chase’s bachelor party in Wilson’s apartment, without consent
With an episode to fill, and little plot to advance, the supporting cast simply played along. From Foreteen’s scouting trip to the local adult entertainment center to Chase’s creation of an Immigration angle to facilitate his attendance at the bachelor party, the entire team appeared to be having the time of their lives shaping this episode.
