About Last Night: Were You Struck by CUPID’s Arrow?
April 1, 2009 by Kath Skerry
Did you all check out the series premiere of CUPID last night? What did you think?
As a fan of CUPID the first go around, I was excited for the reincarnation of the show. Unfortunately, this pilot left me a little underwhelmed. There was something missing. The funny wasn’t funny enough; some of the acting was over the top…it just didn’t work for me. And there was a certain sweetness missing. But I do get that it’s a pilot, so I’ll give it a shot again next week.
What about you? Were you feeling it?

It was ok. I will keep watching, but I do thing they need to step it up. I never watched the original, so I have anything to compare it to. I think Bobby Cannavale’s Cupid is really good, but Sarah Paulson was not that great in my opinion. I really liked the couple that fell in love.
I won’t be watching again. Nothing was really working for me last night – it just felt kind of dull and am not a huge fan of the main actor.
It was ok- nothing really great though. I’ll most likely keep watching though just to see if they improve it.
I pvr’d it…am excited to watch it tonight!
Sarah Paulson’s hair bugged me the whole hour.
I was a big fan of the pre-douche Jeremy Piven version so I am a little disappointed. I liked the couple but not Bobby. He seemed a little…greasy? I don’ t know. Since Tuesday is a barren wasteland for me, it will be added to the DVR but I am not sure how long I’ll be watching.
seems I’m alone… I really enjoyed it. I never saw the original so I have nothing to compare it to… but I liked it. I’m a real sap for Romantic Comedies anyway, but this was right up my alley – and I’m looking forward to more.
(But I’m also aware that the crush on Sean Maguire I’ve had since the early 1990’s when he was on TV over here in the UK may have affected my judgement!)
You aren’t alone Laiq. I really liked it AND I watched it the first time around. Don’t get me wrong. I liked Piven a lot as Trevor Hale. He was amped up and over the top, like Cupid should be, but sometimes, at least in my opinion, he was so manic it was hard to watch. But what Bobby Cannavale is bringing to Trevor Pierce is a little bit whimsy, a lot of drive but not as much over the top antics. I am hesitant to state an opinion on Sarah Paulson as it took me awhile to warm up to her on Studio 60, too, so I’ll have to decide about her later. But all in all, I felt it was well done and am looking forward to more eps and hopefully that it will stick this time around.
