Whew…got home with 2 minutes to spare. I may have broken some speed laws but I made it home in time for IDOL.
Tonight the top 9 become the top 8 as someone (whose name is hopefully Scott or Megan) is voted off and sent home. It’s going to be a long hour but hopefully the performances by Lady GaGa and David Cook will help move things along.
I’ll be live blogging throughout the hour. THIS is American Idol.
9:06pm: The hideous and I mean hideous lip syncing begins. The producers should be ashamed. Honestly. This week the Idols are “singing” Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believing”. Kind of weird as I listened to that song over and over again on the way to and from work. Bizarre.
9:13pm: The Idols are giving us a look inside their week. Looks like they don’t have any time to actually rehearse with all the promotional stuff they have to do. The highlight of the video was Kris Allen giving me the sexy face.
9:17pm: The Idols are now having fun making fun of each other. Well most of them are just making fun of Gokey.
9:18pm: It’s time to send some people home. Seacrest is putting the contestants in groups of three.
- Group 1: Kris, Megan, Matt
- Group 2: Adam, Lil, Allison
- Group 3: Scott, Danny, Anoop
It’s commercial break time but I’m thinking perhaps each group has one of the bottom three. Anyone think that Seacrest might try to throw an April Fools joke into the mix tonight?
9:24pm: David Cook…how I love you! This is a pre-taped performance. Cook has taken a few days off from his tour to deal with some family issues. There’s speculation that David’s brother has taken a turn for the worse. Cook is using his A.C. guitar tonight. So sad. David’s singing “Come Back to Me” – love this song.
David Cook’s debut album has gone platinum. Congrats David. I need to see him on tour this summer. I know my sister Karen is with me…anyone else?
9:34pm: We are back with the first set of results:
- Kris Allen – SAFE
- Matt Giraud – SAFE!! (Nice Seacrest…that was actually a great fake out)
- Megan Joy – Bottom three (WTF was she doing tonight? Crowing? Freak.)
- Lil Rounds – SAFE
- Allison Iraheta – Bottom three (not deserved)
- Adam Lambert – SAFE
Looks I was right. One form each group. Please let Scott be the next butt on the silver stool.
- Danny – SAFE
- Scott – SAFE (Ugh!)
- Anoop – Bottom 3
So it’s Megan, Allison and Anoop in the bottom three. Please please please let it be Megan Joy crowing and cackling out of here tonight.
9:46pm: Lady GaGa is performing. She is quite bizarre. Is she having a seizure at the piano? I only know two of her songs but I’m so sick of her. Maybe it’s because she is so over-hyped by Perez Hilton. I wonder if this chick owns a pair of pants. I didn’t get the performance. Bring back David Cook.
9:50pm: Before he goes to break, Ryan asks Simon if anyone in the bottom three is worth saving. Just one says Cowell. I don’t think Allison will be voted off but if she is there is no way the judges are letting her actually leave.
9:54pm: It’s time to send someone back to the couch. And it’s Allison. Whew! Wake up America!
And now it’s time to send someone home. And that person is Megan Joy. She knew it and she seems fine with it. We are listening to her final performance. And with great joy I say that this is the last time we are going to have to watch her awkward performance for quite some time.
This is actually hysterical. Megan chose to sing the first hald of the song standing right in front of the judes. Simon had a look of complete horror on his face. I love you, Simon. Kara and Paula gave their sympathy dances and looked almost as foolish as Megan.
And that’s it. Megan Joy has finally gone home.

Nice recap, I missed it so this was a nice walkthrough. I can’t believe America keeps sticking Allison in the bottom 3. She’s actually my favorite.
I’m with you guys…how is Allison in the bottom three. I would def send Anoop, Scott and Lil home before her. I’d like to see Kris, Allison, Adam, and Matt in the Top 4. Yeah, I know Gokey will be there for sure, but I love me some Matt…still.

Alison has been in the bottom 3 because she picks horrible songs, if she picks better songs she will be saved. Same goes with Matt.
I’m in for a David Cook show if he comes to Boston! I actually just checked his website when he said his tour was extended. Nothing here yet. He seems to be playing a lot of state fairs, which is odd.

So happy MJ is outta there. Scott better be next. I know, I know he is blind, but I’m sorry, it doesn’t make him a good singer. He’s SO boring and I think the judges are high constantly complimenting him. If he was singing in a bar or restaurant, I might consider getting up and leaving. Seriously. Adam, Kris, Matt & Danny will be the last 4, unless Alison (who I really like) gets some serious help with style and picking songs. Somebody in Hollywood, help that girl, please!
I totally agree with your Top 4. I love Matt too! Kris is pretty great as well! I am so happy Megan went home..she was so annoying! I too love David Cook and need to see him in concert this summer!
I am glad that I found this site because I missed the show tonight and the walk through was great… I am glad that she is going home I havent liked her from the beginning I am a Danny and Allison fan!!! 🙂

And I agree, Allision should never be in the bottom three? She and Lil are the most amazing singers I’ve seen on the show in a long time!
She should have been off 2 weeks ago or better yet not even there. The bad thing is she will be on tour with the top 10.
I think Megan’s “caw caw” as she flapped her arms on the way over to the dreaded Silver Stools was actually a shout out to the votefortheworst.com crew. She was their pick, and back after her um, memorable rendition of Rockin Robin, hilarity ensued on their site — along with many, many bird references. If she’s in on the joke, that’s actually kinda funny.
I’m so very glad they *finally* sent Megan home. Actually think she should’ve been gone awhile back. I think the next one should be Scott.
I thought last night that Allison actually had a Cyndi Lauper look. Did anyone else notice? Or does anyone else agree with it?
And to Kai..her dancing *was* awful. lol
My faves are actually Adam & Allison. Like some of the others, but those 2 are my fave.
Great updates, thanks! Happy I found this site. I fell asleep during the commericial after Seacrest broke the groups into three and woke up to catch the sports on the news. Nice call on the one out of three, I didnt see that coming at all. Just crazy to hear that Allison was in the bottom three…but getting to say buh-bye to “Rotten” Robin made up for it. She IS very attractive so I doubt this will be the last we will see of her ….just hope it’s the last time we have to hear her sing!
You’ll probably hate me but I actually really like Megan. I think she has a unique voice and with the right songs she can really sing. I think she is highly marketable with her good looks but i hate her tatoos all over her shoulder. I think Anoop and Scott are terrible, I am pulling for Danny. He has an amazing tone to his voice and I am a sucker for his sad story. Thanks for the recap Kath, Chris loves Lost so I lose out on Wed nights. Hope to see you soon!
Yahoo, Megan is finally gone. I was wishing they’d play a bit of her first audition so that I could attempt to figure out how she got to this place originally. Never should have been. I am mad I didn’t give my Allison a vote this week but figured she was safe. I don’t like saying it but I think Anoop is next, Scott probably has a lot of support from the Up With People/heartland folks. So top 8 is about as far as the VFTW voting bloc can take you – I think this is roughly as far as Sanjay got.
YAY!!!!!!!!! I’m overjoyed that Megan finally got the boot and !bonus! Matt wasn’t in the bottom three.
My top 4 are Matt, Kris, Adam, & Allison also. As I said yesterday Gokey is getting worse each week and not better.
Thank God! She’s sounded terrible since the official competition began. I’m actually really thinking that Anoop needs to go home next.

I saw David in concert in Green Bay in February! SERIOUSLY the most amazing concert I’ve been to! The man is ridiculous. INCREDIBLE live. I was SO close to not getting to go because it was sold out but the day before the concert they released a few tickets – it was a miracle!! But seriously, if you are remotely interested in seeing David, DO IT, you will not be disappointed!! :]
aaand as far as the actual show goes lol, I’m glad Megan is gone too. She was so cool & different in the beginning but then just went on the downward slide that often happens to contestants like that…sad. Scott needs to go next, even though he is such a nice guy with a cool story, he’s just SO not current or relevant and could not succeed in today’s industry. We’ll see though! The bottom 3s have surprised me lately!!
I believe everyone in this competition is very good.My favorite has to be Scott because although hes blind,he has a fantastic voice!Megan didnt deserve to go home!Her performance was horrible that night,she was good!
