Tonight’s TV Spotlight…Thursday, April 2, 2009
April 2, 2009 by Kath Skerry
Welcome to Thursday! Congratulations on making it this far. It feels like it’s been an especially busy TV week. I’ve been playing TV catch up since Sunday. I’m almost there.
Still haven’t seen last night’s season finale of DAMAGES. After IDOL I watched LOST, but I was honestly falling asleep on my keyboard as I was writing my review of last night’s episode. I tried to stay up for DAMAGES but I just couldn’t do it. Hopefully I can get through the day without being spoiled. Fingers crossed.
But that was then and this is Thursday!! If you are a fan of ER it’s a big night for you. Tonight is the series finale. This show has been on almost half of my entire life. So strange to think it won’t be here anymore. It completely deserves the big send off NBC is giving it tonight, even if it means I have to sacrifice THE OFFICE and 30 ROCK. Farwell, ER.
Bones| 8pm on Fox
“The Doctor in the Den”
Booth and Brennan are convinced the death was no accident after the half-eaten body of Cam’s ex is found in the tiger cage at the zoo, leading the team to hypnotize one suspect (Chad Lowe) to try to jog his memory.
In the Motherhood | 8pm on ABC
“Vacation”
Jane’s week of vacation does not turn out to be very relaxing; Rosemary causes trouble when she tries to unionize Horatio’s fellow nannies. [GMMR: Seems that this didn’t quite get the numbers ABC needed. They’ve already reduced the number of episodes. God I hate the networks sometimes. Just let a show breath already.]
Survivor: Tocantins | 8pm on CBS
“One of Those Coached Moments”
Arrogance and empty stomachs start to affect the members of the Timbira tribe and a fake immunity idol is introduced into the game
Smallville | 8pm on The CW
“Eternal”
Tess reveals Davis’ childhood with the Luthors when she turns to Clark for help after she fails to kill Davis. Meanwhile, Davis seeks Chloe’s assistance.
ER | 8pm-11pm on NBC | Series Finale
8pm | Retrospective
Clips from memorable episodes; interviews with past and present cast members.
9pm | Series Finale
Gates treats a young teen with alcohol poisoning; old friends come to show their support when Dr. Carter opens a medical facility for the underprivileged; Sam gets a special birthday gift
Samantha Who | 8:30pm on ABC
“The Dog”
Samantha borrows Dena’s dog to see if she can care for something other than herself; Andrea’s relationship with Tony Dane continues to receive tabloid coverage.
Supernatural | 9pm on The CW
“The Monster at the End of This Book”
Dean and Sam discover a comic book series that accurately details their lives; Chuck reveals that Lilith has a plan for Sam. [GMMR: Nicole’s interview with Misha Collins (Castiel) had to be postponed until next month due to Misha’s schedule. Thanks for your questions and keep ’em coming.
Also playing…
- CSI | 9pm on CBS: Langston is shocked when one of his former students is murdered.
- Hells Kitchen | 9pm on Fox: Each team must present chef Ramsay with a dish made with king crab; during the dinner service, each team gets to create their own menus.
- Eleventh Hour | 10pm on CBS: Hood is the only one who believes a psychotic woman’s accusations against the deputy director of the FBI — that he stole her baby and is keeping her forcibly medicated to cover it up — may have merit.

I really liked the premiere of In the Motherhood last week. It has a fabulous cast – Megan Mullaly, Rachel Harris, Cheryl Hines…definitely worth giving a shot! I’ll be watching again tonight.
LOVED ER! This whole season was great. Loved all the cameos that weren’t hyped (just like Clooney wasn’t hyped made it better). I wanted to see previews for next week because it wasn’t an end. Just a new beginning for Dr. Greene and a reason to come back to stay for Carter.
One of the best moments was when Rachel told Frank (desk clerk) that her dad was Mark Greene. The choked-up reaction from Frank probably GOT so many viewers because they were at home doing the same thing!
Perfect way to get Sam and Tony back together, not with an overdramatic, mushy kiss, but a simple hand holding.
I wish I had watched the retrospective show AFTER watching the finale. I wonder if I’d have figured it out that it was a new version of the pilot.
