Adam Lambert: ‘Feeling Good’ on Rat Pack Night
April 29, 2009 by Kath Skerry
While not my favorite performance of the night, Adam Lambert is still dazzling. I wish he wouldn’t rely on the screeching as his go to. We know he can hit those notes. He’s done it many, many times. It seems to me that the performances in which he doesn’t rely on screeching in his upper register seem to be the more special numbers.
This kid has the flair for the dramatic. Loved his sassy entrance.
What did YOU think of Adam’s performance last night?

Thank you so much for saying that! I feel like I’m the only one that notices that he has to screech that one really high note at least once in every song (sometimes many, many times in each song). Why have none of the judges mentioned this?
Can you imagine if he had an album full with all of the songs that he’d sung so far? Even though they are very different – the screeching would be so awful to hear song after song in a row. Okay I’m done with the venting.
He is very fun to watch, but I think that he’s more of a Broadway star than a platinum-selling recording artist. And that’s not a bad thing!
The albums would likely be far more understated than the live performances. He has to stand out week after week and to do so, he’s giving his all into it. He could tone things down once he had a career. He’s just a contestant on a singing competition right now. He needs to make every song a showstopper!
