FAME Trailer – Watch it Now!

April 4, 2009 by

Do you know where you’ll be on September 25th? I’ll be in the movie theater at the opening of FAME. I can’t wait! Will it be as iconic and inspiring as the first movie, or will it perhaps be just another “Step Up”? After seeing the trailer, I’ve got a good feeling about this movie. Plus, it’s stars my girl Kherington Payne of SYTYCD fame.

Who knows…perhaps the movie will result in another go at a “Fame” TV series.

Check out the FAME trailer and let me know what you think? The opening alone gave me chills.

EVERWOOD Season 2 on DVD

Here’s a little bit of GMMR trivia for you. The very first season of TV on DVD that I owned was Season One of EVERWOOD. I actually won it through a contest on Watch with Kristin. That was a long, long time ago. It’s taken forever, but Everwood: The Complete Second Season is finally coming to DVD on June 16th.

The 6-disc set will include all 22 episodes of S2 as well as over 40 minutes of deleted scenes. Warner Home Video has released the DVD description as well as the cover/back art.
Dr. Andrew Brown and his family are starting their second year in tiny Everwood, Colorado. Enough time to begin recovering from the death of Andy’s wife. To put down roots. To be at home. To be at peace. Or maybe just enough time to be in total turmoil. Here in a 6-disc DVD collection are all 22 Season Two episodes of the show The Detroit News called “the best family drama in years.” This year Andy finds he can indeed fall in love again, 16-year-old son Ephram falls hard for an older girl, and Ephram’s friend Amy, in shock from the death of her boyfriend, falls prey to depression…and turns to the wrong young man for solace. Powerful, frequently funny and always warmly human, Everwood is your kind of place.

Pre-order EVERWOOD Season 2 on DVD right now!

DR. HORRIBLE’s Facebook Story

Wanted to pass along something to all you DR. HORRIBLE fans out there. Beth Linden of Fandom Geek put together this cool graphic which uses Facebook to help tell the story of DR. HORRIBLE’S SING ALONG BLOG. I got a big geeky kick out of it so I though you might too.

I’ll be at the DR. HORRIBLE panel at this year’s Paley Fest.  Sadly, it doesn’t look like NPH will be there (the evil Dr. eludes me once again), but I can’t wait!! All these months since it first came out and I stll listen to tunes from the soundtrack almost every day. I’m hooked.  If you’re going to be at Paley let me know and please be sure to say Hi.

Thanks to @raelee for passing it along. And thanks to Beth for allowing me to share it with all of you.

SUPERNATURAL: The Monster at the End of This Book

April 3, 2009 by
Filed under #1 featured, Posts by Nicole, Supernatural

Warning: This is long – there was too much to talk about plus a ton of quotable lines that I had to re-hash. Apologies all around.

I hope not many new viewers chose to watch SPN for the first time last night. Not because the episode was a disappointment (hardly), but because it was a giant love letter to the SPN fandom, and most of the comedy would have gone straight over their heads. Yet again, the writers have taken a completely radical concept and managed to pull it off with aplomb, and still move the story forward. What fan wasn’t giggling with recognition at the inside jokes and references (the show was so full of these moments that I’m sure I missed a few – you’ll have to remind me in the comments).

I was taking notes while watching, and noticed that almost everything I was jotting down were direct quotes – this was one highly quotable hour of television. So as a result, I have compiled a list of my favourites at the end of the review (others are scattered throughout) – please feel free to add some of your own. First though, let’s discuss the story, shall we?

The boys stumble across a book series called “Superatural”, the books sharing their titles with past episodes of the show (I got a little misty with nostalgia when I saw “Wendigo”, “Scarecrow” and “Route 666” – it feels like it’s been forever). Their story as hunters is all there, but nothing has been published since the end of No Rest for the Wicked (otherwise known as the season finale of season three). They’re obviously completely freaked out that there is a series of books chronicling everything they’ve done since they started hunting. At least it’s not very popular – according to the comic book store guy, it had a limited printing but a devoted cult following (hee hee). Not only that, but Dean apparently looks like Fabio – the cover of the books depicts his character with huge pecs, ripped abs and long flowing blond hair. Ew. Thank god that’s not the case in “real life” (well, aside from the abs).

SMALLVILLE: Eternal

April 3, 2009 by
Filed under #1 featured, Posts by Sarah, Smallville

Hey GMMR! Its Sarah back with a Smallville recap, and there’s a lot to go over! The episode, titled Eternal, was full of twists and turns and a visit back to the day Clark came to Earth. The flashbacks of the first episode of Smallville were great. Oh how I miss Jonathan and Martha. What I didn’t suspect was that there was another boy on that very same day, Davis Bloom, who is immortal and wreaks the benefits of the meteor rocks by growing stronger. And the only thing that seems to control his killer instincts is Chloe. Another nail in her coffin?! Not that I want to see her go by any means but it is after all part of the big picture, including our missing Daily Planet reporter Lois Lane Why is she always missing? So before I start complaining lets get down to business. By the way my TV went into freeze mode and I missed the first 5-10 minutes so if someone could fill me in that would be great!

With Jimmy gone Chloe seems to be reaching for a little human contact and that appears to be with Davis and Clark isn’t digging that! Chloe’s heart is causing her to ignore all the urgent signs that she’s spending time with a serial killer, not the Brainiac that where used to. Since Jimmy has pushed her away she’s not really herself. But sure enough during dinner together the slip of a knife that should have cut Davis resurrects the old Chloe. Along with Clark’s presence. After Davis takes off Clark enlightens Chloe on Davis’ missing childhood records and the fact that he’s always s the first on the gruesome murder scene. Their talk is interrupted by Chloe’s discovery that Davis’ car has been burnt to a crisp in the same field that Clark appeared in episode 1.

Apparently Davis has been burying the bodies of his prey in the cornfield while Tees has been researching his history. She shows up right as he’s about to leave. After blowing up his car she brings his injured body back to the Luthor mansion, where we find out he has stayed once before. A book that Tess has managed to retrieve from the Luthor’s gives us his entire story.

BONES: The Doctor in the Den

I think I love the show BONES most for the friendships it showcases. So I’m going to shake up this review a bit, and focus on some of the ‘ships we all love and give a special shout out to Ms. Camille. But first of all…

THE CASE: Brennan and Booth are called to a local reserve where a body has been mangled by wild animals. Totally disgusting, totally BONES (and a Pinky and the Brain reference…canNOT go wrong there, am I right?), and totally within the first few minutes of the episode. But it gets more interesting when the body is revealed to be that of Cam’s former fiancée, Dr. Welton. Suspects include an overinvolved benefactress, a competing hospital admin, a career-jilted silver spooner, and the ex-husband of a woman who died on Dr. W’s operating table. I was surprised by the actual killer. Not sure if that means the writers fooled me, or if they pulled it out of left field as a crappy plot device. Thoughts?

THE ‘SHIPS: First of all, in lieu of a ‘squint’ section…how funny was Clark? Haha. I could have done without Angela’s rambling on and on about him (actually, I could have done without any of Angela’s rambling on in this episode. What has it been, like 0.2 seconds of celibacy? Get over it! Anyways….) Clark was funny, and I liked when he brought his GF in to the lab. What were your thoughts on that hypnosis section? Kind of weird, right? I don’t think I liked it. Felt like a stretch to me, realism wise. And kind of out of character for Sweets, I guess.

  • Booth + Brennan:
Not much B+B tonight (but how about next week. Uh, shove me up against the wall, Seeley Booth!), but I actually LOVED that. Evidence, Booth asks Brennan to trust him about something…and she does. Simple as that. Good stuff.

Tonight’s TV Spotlight…Friday, April 3, 2009

TGIF baby! T.G.I.F. I’m so ready for this weekend. Got any fun plans? What are you up to this weekend?

I’ll be celebrating my friend Rob’s birthday (Happy Birthday, Rob!) and doing some much needed errand running. I kind of love a weekend not bogged down with plans. I’m going to try to get a jump start on the new season of RESCUE ME, but I’m not holding myself to it because if the weather is nice I’m going to try to be outside as much as I can. Spring weather just needs to arrive in Boston already!

As for Friday night television, there’s certainly a few shows to choose from. Perhaps you’ll want to check out the recently renewed FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS!! (Sorry, I just like typing that). Or maybe DOLLHOUSE. Assuming DOLLHOUSE is good again this week I might be back with a weekly review. I stopped before because I had pretty much checked out of the show and I didn’t feel like writing the same thing every single week. But it has been better so I think I’m back on board.

Speaking of bored you must be sick of me babbling. Here’s a few TV choices for you tonight.

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles | 8pm on Fox
“Adam Raised a Cain”
John pursues a Skynet target, and gets close to Weaver; Ellison reunites with Sarah after plans change; Weaver uncovers secrets about Ellison.

Friday Night Lights | 9pm on NBC
“Underdogs”
The McCoys’ and Taylors’ friendship is on thin ice after Joe and J.D.’s scuffle; Buddy tries to make amends with Lyla; Tyra and Landry try to rekindle their romance.

Dollhouse | 9pm on Fox
“Needs”
When Echo, Sierra and Victor wake up with most of their original personalities and memories, Echo organizes an escape from the Dollhouse.

Head Case | 10pm on Starz
“Tying the…Not”
Dr. Goode’s wedding day arrives; Tate Donovan needs help with his dating issues; Jeff Probst suffers from a case of mistaken identity. [GMMR: I’ve heard that many of you find this show funny. Sorry, but I can not stand Allie Wentworth.  She irks me so much. But I’m glad you all are loving it.]

Party Down | 10:30pm on Starz
Pepper McMasters Singles Seminar
The team caters a senior singles mixer hosted by Pepper McMasters; Constance has an awkward encounter. [GMMR: Pretty funny episode.  This week’s VM alum guest star is Ed Begley Jr. Jane Lynch continues to bother me but I can deal because I find the rest of the cast pretty damn funny.  I hope you all caught last week’s episode with Jason Dohring…did you love it?!]

GLEE Sneak Peek from Fox

April 2, 2009 by

There is a part of me that feels bad for sharing this promo from Fox’s upcoming series GLEE. I feel almost mean. Why? Because if you like what you’re seeing in this preview, you’re going to still have to wait until May 19th to see the special preview of the show.

I received the screener of the first episode of GLEE not too long ago and I’ve already watched it three times. There’s just so much to love. GLEE won’t be a show for everyone, but I have no doubt that it will have a committed and vocal fanbase. I’ll definitely be talking more GLEE as it gets closer to the premiere, but for now just enjoy these little sneak peeks.

Does GLEE look like a show you might be interested in checking out?

Watch SOUTHLAND Premiere Right Here, Right Now

April 2, 2009 by

Last week NBC sent along to me a screener for the series premiere of it’s new drama SOUTHLAND starring THE O.C.’s Benjamine MacKenzie.  I haven’t had a chance to watch it yet, but you don’t have to wait for me to tell you whether or not it’s worth your time. You can watch it for yourself, right now.

So this time around YOU be the critic. Watch SOUTHLAND. Leave your reviews in the comments below and I will feature some of your thoughts in an upcoming post on GiveMeMyRemote.com.

Southland premieres on NBC next Thursday at 10/9c.

About SOUTHLAND…
From Emmy Award winners John Wells, Ann Biderman and Chris Chulack comes a raw and authentic look at a police unit in Los Angeles. From the beaches of Malibu to the streets of East Los Angeles, “Southland” is a fast-moving drama that will take viewers inside the lives of cops, criminals, victims and their families.

Michael Cudlitz (“A River Runs Through It”) plays John Cooper a seasoned Los Angeles cop, assigned to train young rookie Ben Sherman (Benjamin McKenzie, “The O.C.”). Cooper’s honest, no-nonsense approach to the job leaves Sherman questioning whether or not he has what it takes to become a police officer.

BONES Making Up For Lost Time

April 2, 2009 by

Waiting for confirmation on this but according to TV Guide sources, BONES will air two new episodes a week during the weeks of April 13th and April 20th. A new episode would air on Wednesday in addition to the regular Thursday night time slot.

BONES has been great affected by a number of preemptions this season (clearly Mr. Obama is not a fan) resulting in rumors of the network airing episodes out of order or even keeping some big episodes until the Fall. Going to two-a-week would help ensure that all the episodes make it to air per the original show schedule.

Again, no firm confirmation on this one, but if it is true then I think it will make a LOT of BONES fans very happy.

LOST: Whatever Happened, Happened

April 2, 2009 by

“That was really confusing.”
“Yeah, well, get used to it.”

Another thrilling, emotional, if not somewhat head scratching episode of LOST last night. Plenty of laughs courtesy of the Two Stooges – Miles & Hurley, and a few tears beckoned by an intense performance by Evangeline Lily. Per usual some answers were revealed but as is often the case, when the screen faded to black we were left with a few more new matters to consider (and by consider I mean over think, over analyze, and over theorize to the point that I’m more confused than Hurley).

For an episode that focused some much on Kate I liked it much more than I thought I would.  Evangeline Lilly brought some depth to the character that I’m not sure we’ve ever seen before.  Her performance was nuanced with true guilt and remorse and her pain was quite palpable.  I think we all know which episode Evangeline Lilly will be using as her Emmy reel this year.

Flashbacks helped to fill us in on some of Kate’s story. The guilt and regret stemming from the web of lies concocted by the Oceanic 6 has been especially trying for Kate. Keeping up the constant facade that she is Aaron’s mother coupled with the guilt she feels about leaving Claire and the others behind has left Kate on the edge. I get that, I do.  But what I thought was a bit odd was that Kate decided to come clean with the full truth about the crash, the rescue and Aaron’s real lineage to Cassidy, Sawyer’s ex.  I know their paths had crossed in a previous life, but that was a big secret to share with someone whom you don’t know you can trust.

This secret has just been too much to take. I don’t think she every anticipated how much of herself she would lose to the lies. I can’t help but think that Kate has never been able to fully love Jack because she blames him for being the one to come up with the Oceanic 6 lie in the first place.  In all the post-rescue episodes we’ve seen there’s been a level of hesitation on Kate’s part when it came to her relationship with Jack. Yes, she agreed to be in on the story but I think a part of her will always resent Jack for seemingly forcing her hand.

Welcome to Thursday! Congratulations on making it this far. It feels like it’s been an especially busy TV week. I’ve been playing TV catch up since Sunday. I’m almost there.

Still haven’t seen last night’s season finale of DAMAGES.  After IDOL I watched LOST, but I was honestly falling asleep on my keyboard as I was writing my review of last night’s episode.  I tried to stay up for DAMAGES but I just couldn’t do it. Hopefully I can get through the day without being spoiled. Fingers crossed.

But that was then and this is Thursday!! If you are a fan of ER it’s a big night for you. Tonight is the series finale.  This show has been on almost half of my entire life.  So strange to think it won’t be here anymore.  It completely deserves the big send off NBC is giving it tonight, even if it means I have to sacrifice THE OFFICE and 30 ROCK.  Farwell, ER.

Bones| 8pm on Fox
“The Doctor in the Den”
Booth and Brennan are convinced the death was no accident after the half-eaten body of Cam’s ex is found in the tiger cage at the zoo, leading the team to hypnotize one suspect (Chad Lowe) to try to jog his memory.

In the Motherhood | 8pm on ABC
“Vacation”
Jane’s week of vacation does not turn out to be very relaxing; Rosemary causes trouble when she tries to unionize Horatio’s fellow nannies. [GMMR: Seems that this didn’t quite get the numbers ABC needed. They’ve already reduced the number of episodes. God I hate the networks sometimes. Just let a show breath already.]

Survivor: Tocantins | 8pm on CBS
“One of Those Coached Moments”

Arrogance and empty stomachs start to affect the members of the Timbira tribe and a fake immunity idol is introduced into the game

Smallville | 8pm on The CW
“Eternal”
Tess reveals Davis’ childhood with the Luthors when she turns to Clark for help after she fails to kill Davis. Meanwhile, Davis seeks Chloe’s assistance.

ER | 8pm-11pm on NBC | Series Finale
8pm | Retrospective
Clips from memorable episodes; interviews with past and present cast members.
9pm | Series Finale
Gates treats a young teen with alcohol poisoning; old friends come to show their support when Dr. Carter opens a medical facility for the underprivileged; Sam gets a special birthday gift

Samantha Who | 8:30pm on ABC
“The Dog”
Samantha borrows Dena’s dog to see if she can care for something other than herself; Andrea’s relationship with Tony Dane continues to receive tabloid coverage.

Supernatural | 9pm on The CW
The Monster at the End of This Book”
Dean and Sam discover a comic book series that accurately details their lives; Chuck reveals that Lilith has a plan for Sam. [GMMR: Nicole’s interview with Misha Collins (Castiel) had to be postponed until next month due to Misha’s schedule. Thanks for your questions and keep ’em coming.

Also playing…

  • CSI | 9pm on CBS: Langston is shocked when one of his former students is murdered.
  • Hells Kitchen | 9pm on Fox: Each team must present chef Ramsay with a dish made with king crab; during the dinner service, each team gets to create their own menus.
  • Eleventh Hour | 10pm on CBS: Hood is the only one who believes a psychotic woman’s accusations against the deputy director of the FBI — that he stole her baby and is keeping her forcibly medicated to cover it up — may have merit.

Barney & Robin – Bro Love

Aww, even CBS is in on the BROmance. I kind of loved this little video tribute to Barney and Robin.  Nothing like greasing the wheels for some upcoming loving, right?

I’ve got another great Barney/Robin fan vid in the GMMR featured videos in the upper right corner of the page. I think it’s a little more fun than the CBS video.

P.S.: As of today Neil Patrick Harris has still not committed to the Dr. Horrible panel at Paley Fest. I’ve got 8 full days in L.A. to make it happen. Eight days to meet NPH!! We need someone to help. CBS? Joss Whedon? Ellen DeGeneres? Vinnie Delfin? Project Doogie is on!

Who Went Home on AMERICAN IDOL?

If you’re looking to find out who won the American Idol season finale tonight- Adam or Kris – please click here: Who Won AMERICAN IDOL Tonight? (May 20, 2009)

PREVIOUS POST:

Whew…got home with 2 minutes to spare. I may have broken some speed laws but I made it home in time for IDOL.

Tonight the top 9 become the top 8 as someone (whose name is hopefully Scott or Megan) is voted off and sent home. It’s going to be a long hour but hopefully the performances by Lady GaGa and David Cook will help move things along.

I’ll be live blogging throughout the hour. THIS is American Idol.

9:06pm: The hideous and I mean hideous lip syncing begins. The producers should be ashamed. Honestly. This week the Idols are “singing” Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believing”. Kind of weird as I listened to that song over and over again on the way to and from work. Bizarre.

9:13pm: The Idols are giving us a look inside their week.  Looks like they don’t have any time to actually rehearse with all the promotional stuff they have to do. The highlight of the video was Kris Allen giving me the sexy face.

9:17pm: The Idols are now having fun making fun of each other.  Well most of them are just making fun of Gokey.
