CBS Announces its 2009-2010 TV Schedule
May 20, 2009 by Kath Skerry
CBS has just released it’s 2009-2010 Fall schedule and there were a few changes worth noting. The biggest one for me was the decision to move THE BIG BANG THEORY from the 8pm timeslot until 9:30 – after TWO AND A HALF MEN. The ratings boom of HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER had to play a part in that decision.
The schedule change I’m personally most excited about was moving THE MENTALIST to 10pm on Thursdays. I’m not going to be watching Leno so this means I can finally fit Simon Baker into my TV schedule.
And really…NCIS: Los Angeles? CBS, you should be ashamed. Honestly, you can’t come up with something more original. And while you’re at it, why don’t you just make the formal announcement that CBS stands for Crimes Burglaries Shootings.
MONDAY
8:00 – How I Met Your Mother
8:30 – Accidentally On Purpose
9:00 – Two and a Half Men
9:30 – The Big Bang Theory
10:00 – CSI Miami
TUESDAY
8:00 – NCIS
9:00 0 NCIS: Los Angeles
10:00 – The Good Wife
WEDNESDAY
8:00 – Old Christine
8:30 – Gary Unmarried
9:00 – Criminal Minds
9:30 – CSI:NY
THURSDAY
8:00 – Survivor
9:00 – CSI
10: 00The Mentalist
FRIDAY

9: 00 – Medium
10:00 – Numb3rs
SATURDAY

9: 00 – Crime Drama
10:00 – 48 Hours

Thoughts on the new CBS schedule? I’ll be working on getting clips of the new shows up soon.

How is Numb3rs still on? That baffles me along with the exsistance of Ghost Whisperer, and Medium. I must not be the demographic because I just don’t get it.
Anyway…. so what’s the deal with moving Big Bang so late? Because its performing so strongly, they want to move How I Met Your Mother up to a time slot where it might snag more viewers or what? What’s the strategy GMMR?
Any chance you might be able make/link a handy dandy cheat sheet of what is against what this fall? Because now that they have moved Big Bang to the end of the night and Chuck isn’t back till the spring, I’m not sure what Mondays have in store for me anymore!
I’m glad that CBC picked up Medium after NBC dropped the ball. It was one of the networks better programs that performed admirably in the ratings. I’m not sure why it gets such a bad rep. It’s wonderfully acted and has interesting stories to tell. But – NCIS really? We need two of those shows of television? I don’t know a single person that watches the original. Aren’t 3 CIS’s enough? If I was a network looking to cut costs (and useless crap), that’s where I’d start.
Wow, note to self: um…proofread next time.
Meant to say: Aren’t 3 CSI’s enough??
The only show I have any interest in on CBS is HIMYM. I have seen The Big Bang Theory a few times, but it cut into my viewing of Chuck this year. Maybe I’ll be able to watch it more often next Fall.
When Big Bang was moved to 9:30 one week when President Obama gave a speech during the 8 p.m. hour, it retained almost all of Two and Half Men’s audience. Big Bang usually gets abot 10 million viewers, Two and a Half about 15 million, so the schedule move makes sense to be able to grow the audience for BBT.

Wow- Thursday nights are going to kill me this fall now that they’re moving The Mentalist. Oh well…
Wow. Just realized reading this that I don’t watch a SINGLE CBS show.
What the (insert expletive of your choice here) is up with NBC? Do they purposefully push viewers away? I love Medium, I guess that is just another reason to stop watching NBC.
I just recently started watching NCIS, and I really, really enjoy it. I like it because it’s different. It’s not your usual crime drama with all of its mumbo-jumbo-insert-fancy-scientific-word that no one outside of foresnicscientists can understand. Plus it’s funny, which counteracts the depressing reality of the CSI’s (of which I am not a fan).
I honestly thought it was a boring replica of CSI with a slight case of dyslexia, but then I happened to watch it one night when I was bored. And I changed my opinion.
It’s worth a shot.
The Mentalist is nowhere near as good as NCIS. The Mentalist has a strong leading character and the rest of them can be scrapped. NCIS has a strong cast with very compelling characters. Catch up on the old seasons. It’s funny and funny is good. It’s funnier than many sitcoms, actually. Probably why it’s never nominated. It defies a category. So there. Watch them all and tell me I’m wrong. You won’t.
It’s a procedural. That’s not an excuse not to watch. Everything doesn’t have to be a soap opera.
😉
Fair enough Bgirl. Thanks!
Unlike Lynzee i love Ghost Whisper, Numbers and Medium. You show that Flashpoint will be coming back but it’s not on the schedule at all so when and what time will it be airing?
Where the heck is Rules of Engagement?
The best comedy on CBS
CBS/FOX are providing most of my shows for next year it seems. I still love Monday night comedy on CBS and I am a big fan of Numb3rs as well. Throw in some NCIS and Amazing Race and it is a pretty good lineup. I just hate what NBC did this year (especially canceling Life which was maybe my favorite show on TV).
What’s with the change for Big Bang Theory. This show has a lot of viewers – why would you want to mess with it? I understand moving it to 9 p.m. and moving back Two and a half men, but moving it to 9:30 is a death sentence.
So is the Medium going to have new shows on CBS?
