BROTHERS on Fox – First Look

BROTHERS will air on Friday nights at 8:00pm.
About BROTHERS…
Starring Michael Strahan (“FOX NFL Sunday”) and Daryl “Chill” Mitchell (“Ed,” “Veronica’s Closet”), BROTHERS is a new half-hour comedy about a former NFL hot shot who learns that even though you can always go home again, the trip back might be tougher than you think.
MIKE TRAINOR (Strahan) seemingly has it all – he’s a good-looking, wealthy and recently retired NFL player living the high-life in New York City, but he’s about to get sidelined. When Mike gets a phone call from his MOM (CCH Pounder, “The Shield”) who orders him home to Houston, he quickly realizes the more his life has changed, the more his family has stayed the same.
His brother CHILL (Daryl “Chill” Mitchell), whose life was altered drastically after a car accident left him in a wheelchair, is struggling to keep his restaurant afloat with the help of his loudmouth associate, ROSCOE (Colton Dunn, “MADtv”).
The dynamics between Mike and Chill are the same as when they were kids, and their sibling rivalry hasn’t lessened with age. If they can stop their bickering, put aside their differences and learn to be teammates, the brothers might just turn out to be each other’s biggest asset. Wedged between Mike and Chill are their parents. Their father, whom everyone refers to as COACH (Carl Weathers, “Rocky”), is the local high school football coach and the conservative, opinionated alpha male of his clan. Coach thinks he runs the show, but really it’s Mom who calls the shots. Saucy, stern and a schemer, she is the mastermind of the family. And when she learns that Mike’s business manager took off with all his money, she orchestrates a plan to keep Mike in Houston, save Chill’s restaurant and bring the family back together under one roof again – all without anyone realizing what she’s up to. Mom’s plan helps Mike realize that his family – however dysfunctional they may be – is the only family he’s got. And although he may not have a penny to his name, as long as he’s surrounded by people who love him, he’ll always be a rich man.

Family Guy spinoff, THE CLEVELAND SHOW will air 8:30-9pm on Sundays in the Fall. Mid-season the show is slated to be aired on Sunday from 9:30-10pm.
About THE CLEVELAND SHOW…
THE CLEVELAND SHOW is a new animated series that follows everyone’s favorite soft-spoken neighbor, CLEVELAND BROWN (Mike Henry), to his hometown in Virginia as he settles down with his high school sweetheart, her unruly kids and his own 14-year-old son, CLEVELAND JR. (Kevin Michael Richardson).
Many years ago, Cleveland was a high school student madly in love with a beautiful girl named DONNA (Sanaa Lathan). Much to his dismay, his love went unrequited, and Donna wound up marrying another man. Cleveland once told Donna he would always love her, and if this man ever done her wrong, he’d be there when she called. Well, this man done her wrong. Donna’s husband ran off, leaving Donna with a teenage daughter and a young son. Now she’s open to Cleveland and has offered him another chance at love. Unattached after the Loretta-Quagmire debacle and true to his word, Cleveland joyously reunites with Donna, and he and Cleveland Jr. move to Virginia to join their new family. Once in Virginia, there are a few surprises in store for Cleveland, including ROBERTA (Reagan Gomez-Preston), a rebellious new stepdaughter; RALLO (Henry), his new 5-year-old stepson who loves the ladies; and a collection of neighbors that includes a loudmouth redneck, LESTER (Richardson); a hipster wanna-be, HOLT (guest voice Jason Sudeikis); and a religious pair of talking bears, TIM (Seth MacFarlane) and his wife ARIANNA (guest voice Arianna Huffington).

UPDATE: Watching “SNL Just Shorts” tonight I was reminded of just how hilarious this TV Funhouse video was. Classic!

Last night Saturday Night Live featured a Robert Smigel cartoon spoof based on the popular kids show Dora the Explorer. I’m not sure if many of you will appreciate this, but if you have little ones in your life than you know the frenzy that little Dora and her friends can cause. I know my sister Karen will get a kick out of this, so this one is for her. If only Dora was this funny all the time (Swiper no swiping).

NBC will announce on Tuesday that CHUCK will be back for a third season! Congratulations to the cast, crew and all the fans that came together to make a difference. You were heard!
I’m going to concentrate on the good news, that being CHUCK is back. But there’s a bit of bad news too. Sources say the show will only be back for 13 episodes next season rather than the full 22 episodes. But hey, it’s coming back and that’s a win!
According to Variety, the NBC and Warner Bros made some concessions including budget cuts to make the final deal. How those budget cuts will play out is TBD.
More details coming soon…
I think the worst thing we could do right now would be to let up on our CHUCK chatter. Let’s continue to do what we can to try to get new fans for next season. Lend out your DVDs and keep talking up the show.

Will Ferrell & Surprise Guests Take the Stage in SNL’s Finale
May 17, 2009 by Kath Skerry
Filed under Saturday Night Live, SNL
SNL alum Will Ferrell took to the main stage last night as host of SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE’s season finale. But Will wasn’t the only alum to show up in Studio 8H. SNL favorites Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolph and Norm McDonald also made cameo appearances much to my delight.
Amy first appeared back in the old anchor’s chair to co-host Weekend Update with Seth Meyer. It was like she never left. And, in a (too) lengthy skit about weirdos at a funeral service, Maya Rudolph was a great surprise. She’s always been one of my favorites. If only they could have let her give us a little Donatella Versace. Such a shame that her new movie, Away We Go, is premiering this summer because it would have been nice to see her host.
Norm McDonald was fantastic reprising his Burt Reynolds for the always great SNL version of Jeopardy.
But it was the last skit of the night that really brought out the names and faces. Backed by Billy Joel’s “Goodnight Saigon”, Will Ferrell was joined by the entire cast of SNL including Amy, Norm & Maya. Also making cameos were Paul Rudd, Anne Hathaway, Artie Lange, Green Day, Tom Hanks, and Elisabeth Moss (from MAD MEN but also the fiance of Fred Armisen). It was great fun to see everyone take the stage together. The only one was Billy Joel himself.
If you missed it, check it out here. I’m sure it’s only going to be up for a short period of time so watch it soon.

SAVE CHUCK: The Last Push
May 16, 2009 by Kath Skerry
Filed under #1 featured, Chuck, Save CHUCK
In just a few short days NBC will announce whether or not CHUCK will be returning to the schedule next season. All indications are that the show will indeed return, but perhaps on a different night, and sadly with less episodes. But it’s all just speculation and tings could change between now and then.
Know no matter what happens that YOU made a difference. NBC took notice – that we know for sure. Well done. Let’s keep at it.
So what can you do in these last few days?
(1) Watch CHUCK online at NBC.com, Hulu.com or TheWB.com (or watch a few of my favorite right here at GMMR.)
(2) Continue to tweet your support for CHUCK and get others watching the shows online. Remember to include #savechuck at the end of your tweet.
(3) Donate to the ‘Have a Heart – Renew Chuck‘ campaign. Ok, maybe this won’t help save the show but it’s a great way for CHUCK fans to show their support. Members of the CHUCK community decided to come together to raise money for The American Heart Association – Subway’s favorite charity. All money raised go directly to the AHA in the name of one Chuck Bartowski.
I made my donation today. To date the campaign has raised over $14,650.00. A round of applause for all involved.
All this is about our love for CHUCK. So check out a few of my favorite episodes (in no particular order)
CHUCK vs. The Beefcake: When Chuck breaks up with Sarah, a sexy MI6 agent moves in for seduction. [This ep is special to me as I was lucky to be visiting the set of CHUCK during the filming.]
