Tonight’s TV Spotlight…Sunday, August 9, 2009
August 9, 2009 by Kath Skerry
It’s one of those Sundays where you really can’t complain that nothing is on TV. Tonight’s spotlight is jam packed with so much to watch that your DVR might be working extra hard. I know mine will. And the crazy part is, I feel like I just highlighted some of the many new shows on tonight. It’s almost like I can smell Fall programming!
As for my personal TV lineup, well it will definitely include TRUE BLOOD, HUNG (although I might TiNo that until tomorrow) and of course ENTOURAGE, which will be extra special tonight as Patriots QB Tom Brady will be guesting. Hello Tommy!! But the highlight of tonight’s schedule is the season premiere of AMERICA’S BEST DANCE CREW! A must watch for all SYTYCD fans. We’ll be talking about it here on GMMR, so don’t miss out!
Here’s a few shows for you to choose from. Drop me a comment and let me know what YOU will be watching!
Big Brother 11 | 8pm on CBS
On tonight’s show, Chima, the current Head of Household, nominates two of her fellow houseguests for eviction. [GMMR: In real time, the POV has already been played, and Jeff is contemplating his coup d’etat powers.]
America’s Best Dance Crew | 9pm on MTV | Season Premiere
“Crews Choice Challenge”
Nine crews from around the country try to avoid being the first casualty of the season. [GMMR: WOW! If you’ve never seen ABDC give this episode a shot. Especially if you’re already a SYTYCD fan. I was late to this show & now I love it! So good. I’ll be all over it here on GMMR.]
Defying Gravity | 10pm on ABC
“Threshold”
Personal and professional relationships intensify, both aboard ship and on the ground, as the unseen power behind the mission begins to cause psychological and cellular transformations in the astronauts.
True Blood | 9pm on HBO
“Timebomb”
Sookie’s captivity takes an unexpected turn; Sam makes a gruesome discovery at Merlotte’s; Tara and Eggs eat a mysterious meal prepared by Maryann; Jason pays off his debt to the vampires.
Hung | 10pm on HBO
“Doris is Dead; Are We Rich or Are We Poor”
Tanya chastises Jemma for setting up dates directly with Ray; Jessica confronts Ronnie about their finances; Ray gives his basketball team an inspirational pep talk.
Entourage | 10:30pm on HBO
“Fore”
Vince and Drama play in a charity golf tournament; Eric gets an unexpected job offer; Ari finds himself in the doghouse. [GMMR: I’m pretty sure tonight’s ep features Patriot’s QB, Tom Brady. I’m not expecting much in terms of acting, but it will be nice to see Tom…it always is. Sigh.]
In Plain Sight | 10pm on USA
“Don’t Cry for Me, Albuquerque”
The U.S. government enlists WITSEC to hide one of Latin America’s feistiest political activists, but everything goes south when the budding Evita moves to the bad part of town.
Army Wives | 10pm on Lifetime
“MIA”
Pamela’s excitement over Chase’s upcoming return home is cut short when she loses her wallet; Roxy is surprised by a country music singer; Joan struggles with her deployment.
Also Playing…
- Who Wants to be a Millionaire | 8pm on ABC: Regis Philbin return as host for this special primetime series. Contestants answer trivia questions to win cash; singer Katy Perry competes for charity; Sam Donaldson is the lifeline expert.

I am enjoying Drop Dead Diva on Sundays, right before and after Army Wives on Life channel.
I haven’t heard from anyone that is watching it. I’m glad you’re liking it. FYI – ionight is a repeat episode so that’s why it’s not included above.
I didn’t realize that ABDC was 1.5 hours, until I programmed the reminder into my cable box. This means it will interfere with Defying Gravity! Is ABDC always this long? I guess I’ll be time-shifting Defying Gravity, and recording it for later viewing. Odd … I don’t think I’ve ever had this problem with there being too much TV on a Sunday!
Actually, tonight is a NEW episode of Drop Dead Diva…
