Tonight’s TV Spotlight…Thursday, September 17, 2009

September 17, 2009 by

Are you ready? Are you sure? Have you rested up? Are the DVRs set? Per usual, Thursday nights in the Fall aren’t for the weak of heart. It takes a real TV fan to tackle tonight’s TV schedule. Are you up for the task?

I’m scared. I’ll admit it. But I’m excited! But mostly scared.

And get this…the ABC shows don’t even premiere until next week.

T0 make things even more stressful, I’m not going to be around to watch any TV tonight.  We are heading over to a live taping of AMERICA’S BEST DANCE CREW.  Yikes!

There’s a lot of shows to cover in today’s TV spotlight, and some news to be shared. Keep checking back to GMMR throughout the day for a deeper look at some of tonight’s BIG premiere. Let’s get to it.

Here’s a look at what the Thursday night schedule will look like this Fall (and this is just the big networks…well, the big networks and The CW.) Make sure you check the list of premiere dates below the grid to find out which shows premiere when.

Why must every show I watch migrate to Thursday nights? With Fringe and The Mentalist on Thursdays, just about everything I watch is on the same night now. Gah!

Man Kath, I have to confess that I am like, deeply and personally offended at you choosing Grey’s Anatomy over Supernatural. I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt since you’re not caught up yet, but I’m shaking my head a little! 🙂

Survivor baby! Then let the wife watch Grey’s Anatomy, and then to bed as PP tapes.

SB – Here’s my thinking on that. I don’t have anyone to cover GREY’S ANATOMY so I kind of have to watch that one on Thursday night or else we can’t talk about it. I can DVR SUPERNATURAL because Nicole has that one covered. I can watch that lter Thursday night or early Friday morning and still be all set.

    See…I have a good excuse!

Oh NO! My Thursday Conflict starts tonight! I have both Fringe and Supernatural at 8 pm (following The Vampire Diaries, which I enjoyed enough last week to check out again). What to do?! I have digital cable (but only a lowly VCR), so I might have to tape Supernatural, and watch Fringe on my second TV (digital = must watch what you’re taping). Then I can always watch Supernatural at 9pm. Or the opposite … tape Fringe and watch Supernatural. Hmm, must decide by 8 pm!!

Wow… I hadn’t realized how insane Thursday nights would be until I saw this! I literally plan on watching everything from the major networks on Thursdays except CSI and Jay Leno. I only have one DVR, so there’s going to be quite some competition! The only things I know for sure that will get space on the DVR that night are Bones and Supernatural (and Private Practice/ the Mentalist because there’s nothing else against them at 10). Oh, and Project Runway! That’ll have to wait until the 11:30 pm repeat on Lifetime. At 8, I think The Vampire Diaries and FlashForward will have to duke it out for the 2nd DVR space, (although maybe FF will suck and I won’t watch it), with the rest relegated to online viewing the next day. 9 o’clock REALLY kills me, though. I love Fringe and the Office (and think I’ll like Community), and although Grey’s isn’t my favorite show by any means, it’s such a habit to watch it on Thursday nights I don’t know if I can give it up until Friday. Choices, choices! Although should I really be complaining about the overabundance of great TV?

Don’t forget about VH1 Divas Live tonight – September 17th – at 9pm. I’d rather watch that live just to see if their are any meltdowns or bad notes! Oi! I’m so overwhelmed with Thursdays!!

  9. bubblewrap on September 17th, 2009 6:54 pm

I’m still not sure how I’m going to handle Thursday nights- and some things don’t even premiere until next week! I’m still trying to make a final decision on what to watch live and what to watch online later (no DVR for me 🙁 )

The office and sunny! My night of comedy!
