What Are YOUR Favorite SYTYCD Performances?

Tonight at 8pm on Fox, creepy Uncle Nigel is going to be hosting a special episode of SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE in preparation for the season 6 kickoff next Wednesday night. Tonight we’ll look back at the 15 fan favorite dance routines from the previous five seasons. Fifteen seems like a lot, but if you think about it, it’s really tough to narrow the list down.
I want to hear YOUR favorite 15 routines. I wonder how many will end up on tonight’s episode.
I’ll kick things off with a few of my personal favorites. This list is in no way comprehensive – there are just too many moments I loved over the past few seasons. But here are a sampling, in no particular order, of some of my faves.
- The Bench Dance – Heidi & Travis danced this Emmy award winning routine by Mia Michaels. This dance was recently performed on SYTYCD’s 100th episode, but I don’t think it can be left off the list tonight. It might be the most popular piece of the series.
- Why – This contemporary routine choreographed by Tyce Diorio was the first even dance piece that moved me to tears. It was what this show is all about – it was the combination of the beauty of the piece, the performance elements that Ivan and Allison brought to the stage, and the fact that many of the viewers (especially me) were caught off guard by the amazing performance of Ivan Koumaev – a hip hop dancer who no one expected to shine in this way. I’ve seen this dance too many times to count, but I still get teary.
- The Boardroom – Choreographer Mandy Moore put together this amazing Jazz routine which had Neil and Sabra fighting it out in the boardroom. The use of the table helped really bring the routine to life. The two dancers were fabulous in this routine, one of the best of their season.
WAREHOUSE 13: Regrets

Happy September, Warehouse 13 fans!
I hope you are doing well. Thanks to all who have been leaving comments these past weeks. Did you like this week’s episode, REGRETS? I have some mixed feelings about it, as I will discuss in detail in a bit, but I also want to know what you think.
Was it just me, or were the two plots of this episode almost completely out of sync? I liked them both, but together…it felt like a mash up. Pete and Myka go to Riverton Penitentiary in Florida, where four inmates have committed suicide within a month, after a two year period of no suicides there. Meanwhile, back at the warehouse, Claudia wants to change a light bulb. And then she gets stuck and it’s up to Artie to get her down.
So while Pete and Myka are dealing with multiple deaths, as well as innermost fears (more on that later), Claudia and Artie are dealing with hijinks. And while Artie’s line “Only put on in the case of stupid?” was funny, and I agree that Venus De Milo’s arms WERE rad, indeed, I always felt jolted around when the plots switched.
But that is all the time I am going to spend on Artie and Claudia, because what I LOVED about the episode was the character development for Pete and Myka, both individually and as partners.
I’m not sure even Pete believed himself when he said, “Maybe this is what Mrs. Frederic meant by endless freaking wonder”, and for sure, he and Myka got a lot more than they bargained for with this artifact (and…help me out here. Did anything from this episode get snagged, bagged, and tagged? The necklace right, but then the Reverend John Hill was wearing it again? Did I miss something?).
But what’s happening is that the quartz surrounding/built into the prison, combined with hurricane effects, are causing its victims to hallucinate, specifically about situations in which another person was killed, presumably at the fault of the victim. Pete hallucinates his dad, Myka, her former partner. The man who died at the beginning of the episode imagines the girl he killed as a drunk driver, and likewise his doctor kills himself over the guilt of his patient. But throughout the whole episode, the underlying theme was: the truth.

Quick Review: THE OFFICE Season 5 on DVD
September 1, 2009 by Kath Skerry
We are just over two weeks away from the season 6 premiere of THE OFFICE. Bizarre. To think back to 2005 and the six-episode first season, when no one thought the show would last. It was back before GMMR even launched and at the time I felt like a one-woman megaphone for the show. Fast forward just a few month later – I had my own little TV blog and one of the first posts I ever wrote was “Why Won’t You Watch THE OFFICE?” Everyone expected it to fail. It had no chance at season 2. And here we are with Season 6 right around the corner. Forgive my sentimentality, but it’s my favorite show and I can’t help but feel proud.
Perhaps what’s driving my melodrama right now is that I just finished watching some of the bonus footage from THE OFFICE Season 5 on DVD. One of the many featurettes is “One Hundred Episodes, One Hundred Moments”, which picks one small but oh so memorable moments from every episode of the season thus far. It was a nice walk down memory lane. And I’m such a chick that I got a little teary.
For me the quality of the bonus footage is what the DVD sets are all about. I’ve seen all the episodes (many times over), but the behind-the-scenes footage and commentary you can get from the DVDs is the gravy. That’s why when I opened up the DVD today, I skipped right to Disc 5…where are the good stuff is. I’ve already watched the tear-inducing gag reel, all the deleted scenes from the last few episodes of the season, and I’ve watched the season finale, “Company Picnic” while listening to the commentary of Executive Producers/Writers Paul Lieberstein & Jen Cellota and director Ken Kwapis. Clearly I’m in heaven right now.
I’ll be treating myself the remainder of the DVD goodies over the course of the week.
For the die hard Dunder Mifflinites that haven’t already pre-ordered their copy, THE OFFICE Season 5 on DVD hit shelves on September 8th in both DVD and Blu-ray.
In addition to the 26 episodes, here are the other features you’ll find on the S5 collection.
Blue-ray owners are in for a little something extra. Blu-ray™ Hi-Def bonus features include:
- “One-Liner Soundboard” – Allows the user to string together one-liners and quotes from the show to create your own character audio mix that you can share with friends via BD -LIVEä
- BD-LIVE™ – Access the BD-Live™ Center through your Internet-connected player and watch the latest trailers, download exclusive content and more!
The Office: The Complete Season Five on Blu-ray™ Hi-Def and DVD comes with reams of bonus features, including:
- Episode Commentary with the Cast and Crew of The Office
- Over Three Hours of Deleted Scenes!
- Gag Reel
- The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Presents The Office
- Four Webisodes
- The Office Promos: Beijing Games and XLIII Football Championship
Just about everything any OFFICE fan could want.
[Update: Well, almost anything. I guess a true OFFICE fan might expect the last name of one of the stars actually be spelled correctly. As Sorano916 pointed out to me, somebody goofed BIG time and spelled John Krasinski “John Krasinsky” on the back on the DVD cover. Wow, that’s completely unacceptable.]
Oh and get this – two of the DVD copies of THE OFFICE: Season 5 hold hidden “Golden Dunder Mifflin Tickets”, if you’re one of the two lucky winners, then you’re heading to the set of THE OFFICE. Here’s to hoping the tickets go to a deserving and dedicated fan!
Make sure you head out on September 8th to get your new DVDs or Blu-ray. Meanwhile, I’ll be watching episode commentaries into the wee hours of the morning.
GREEK Season Premiere: “The Day After”
September 1, 2009 by Kath Skerry

Hope you got all your back to school shopping done because class was back in session on last night’s GREEK.
As the song goes, “there’s got to be a morning after”, but this time around that morning left most of the frat friends wishing for a do over. So much gossip to dish on over at CRU. The right people aren’t smooching and the wrong people are. Dale is a forever changed man. Cappie wound up in handcuffs (I’ll give you ladies a minute with that visual) and so much more.
“It’s the end of the world, Cappie. What are you going to do?” Well if you are the creative team behind GREEK you are going to make the viewers wait 53 minutes into the episode before you let us know what happened in the moments after the fateful question was asked. By now we all know that Cappie’s instincts were to go after Casey and confirm that she wasn’t in this alone – he still has feelings for her too. He was on his way to ZBZ to find Casey when he was sidelined by none other than Evan Chambers. Evan reminded Cappie that nothing had really changed between he and Casey. He was still the same old, slacker Cappie and maybe he shouldn’t ruin Casey’s Senior year. And besides, did Cappie really want to go through all that pain and heartache again? Evan suggested that Cappie sleep on it. If he still felt the same way the next day then he should seek out Casey, if not…go find someone else to Fall in love with – maybe a brunette blogger who lives just south of Boston. (I think that was Evan’s suggestion, no?)

18 Kids and Counting: The Duggars are Adding Another One!

And baby makes 19…
The entire Duggar family gathered this morning to make the announcement that they are adding another baby into their already huge family. This will be baby number 19 for Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar.
WOW!
The eldest son, Josh and his wife Anna, are due with their first child – a little girl – next month. So baby #19 will actually be older than his or her aunt. Not unheard of but still bizarre.
Congratulations?
