Tonight’s TV Spotlight…Thursday, November 12, 2009
November 12, 2009 by Kath Skerry
How did it get to be Thursday already? Seriously? That just snuck right up on me. And while we are talking about Thursday night TV, can we all agree that it’s gotten quite out of hand? I am recording 10 shows between the hours of 8-10pm. All that and it doesn’t even include FRINGE which I stopped recording all together because I’m just too far behind. But I’m trying to get caught up online, and when I do, that will be 11 shows that I’m recording. Now that’s just insane.
With that being said, I think I’m about ready to officially drop FLASH FORWARD from my lineup. I was so excited for this show this summer, but it just hasn’t lived up to the hype for me. I think the story is convoluted and the writers take the easy way out just a bit too often. I know it’s popular to say that the show is trying too much to be like LOST, but I do think there is a bit of merit in that statement. In general, I think the show just tries too hard.
Are you a FLASH FORWARD fan? Do you think I should stick with the show? Consider the comments your forum to try to convince me. Why should I keep watching FLASH FORWARD.
So many other shows to get excited about tonight. I’ve included promo clips for a few of the show…you know just to get you in the mood.
Here are just a few shows worthy of your time tonight. And don’t forget about Jim Parsons and Kate Walsh both sitting down on the late night couches tonight
Flash Forward | 8pm on ABC
“Playing Cards with Coyote”
Mark’s romantic getaway with Olivia is cut short when he gets a tip that leads him to the tattooed assassin in his flashforward; Aaron learns the truth about his daughter’s accident.
The Vampire Diaries | 8pm on The CW
“History Repeating”
Bonnie has frightening dreams about one of her ancestors; Caroline and Bonnie continue to fight over the medallion; Damon tells Stefan why he returned to Mystic Falls. [GMMR:I’m way beyond hooked. I’m not ashamed to admit it. My name is Kath and I love The Vampire Diaries.]
“History Repeating” – Sneak Peek
“Tastes Like Chicken”
Motivated by extreme hunger, one castaway kills a rat to provide for her tribe; the eighth contestant is eliminated.
Bones | 8pm on CBS
“The Dwarf in the Dirt”
Booth must get re-certified for FBI marksmanship, but he is not the accurate shot he was before undergoing brain surgery; Brennan and Booth investigate the death of a little person who was a former wrestling star.
Community | 8:00pm on NBC
“Debate 109”
Jeff joins the debate team after Annie’s partner drops out before the championship debate; Abed’s films appear to predict the future. [GMMR: This is the other show I’m thinking of dropping from my schedule. Maybe I won’t drop it completely, but it might get moved to DVR #2, to make way on DVR #1 for THE VAMPIRE DIARIES. This is another show with a huge fan following, but it just doesn’t make me laugh.]
(The rest of Thursday night’s lineup is after the jump)
Parks & Recreation | 8:30pm on NBC
“The Camel”
After a City Hall mural is defaced, the members of the Parks Department compete to come up with a new design; Andy and Ron share an uncomfortable moment. [GMMR: This show on the other hand has me rolling every week. Not sure exactly what happened in that writer’s room during the hiatus, but whatever it was it was for the best. Loving this show!]
The Office | 9pm on NBC
“Murder
Troubling rumors about Dunder Mifflin rock Michael’s world; strange diversions upset Jim; Andy finds that his awkwardness is his biggest hurdle in courting Erin. [GMMR: This episode is titled “Murder” and not “Muckduck”…for obvious reason. And ugh, another episode where Jim is upset? He and Pam just need to quit already. Oh wait, that’s a take back. I TAKE IT BACK!]
“Murder” Promo
“New History”
Owen recruits a fellow Iraq War veteran to be the new cardiothoracic surgeon, but Cristina questions the new surgeon’s abilities; Izzie returns with her high school mentor seeking treatment for dementia.
Supernatural | 9pm on The CW
“The Real Ghostbusters”
Sam and Dean are tricked into attending a “Supernatural” convention where fans dress up as the brothers. But the entertaining event is soon disrupted by a ghost. [GMMR: What?! How did I not know until now that tonight’s ep is going to be one of those fantastic meta episodes? I love when Sam and Dean interact with the fictional world of “Supernatural”. And this time at a con? This officially just became the show I’m not excited about tonight!]
“The Real Ghostbusters” – Trailer
“The Lost Girls”
The team helps Langston investigate a prostitution ring that may have harbored a hostage he has been searching for in Miami and New York.
Fringe | 9pm on FOX
“Of Human Action”
A kidnapping rapidly escalates into a hostage situation, and authorities closing in discover that an unknown force has mind-blowing consequences; Fringe Division identifies a link between the incident and Massive Dynamic. [GMMR: If I have any chance of every getting caught up on FRINGE it has to be over the next few days. You would think being out of work for a month I could have found the time. Oh well. I’m sorry, Pacey. I’m going to try…for you.]
“Of Human Action” Clips (Very Spoilery – Warning)
30 Rock | 9:30pm on NBC
“The Problem Solvers
The crew awaits the arrival of the new cast member; Tracy and Jenna rethink how they treat Kenneth; Jack offers Liz a talk show.

Addison and Sam perform urgent field care when, while out hiking, they stumble across a couple trapped in their car after an accident.
The Mentalist | 10pm on CBS

Minelli orders Patrick and his team to work together with Bosco and his team in order to locate a kidnapped woman who is being held for ransom.
It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia | 10pm on FX

Mac and Dennis decide to spend some time apart; Chris lends his feline expertise to help Dee find her cat.
Project Runway | 10pm on Lifetime
“The Finale Part 1”
In Part 1 of the two-part Season 6 finale, the final three designers prepare their lines for their Bryant Park runway showing, with mentor Tim Gunn providing a look at their progress.
