Welcome to our SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE live blog.  The comments are open so join in on the discussion during the show. (Just keep hitting refresh). Send out a tweet and let other #SYTYCD fans know where to join us.

I’d like to tell you how awesome the Top 14 performance was, but I ran into some technical difficulties (my TV wouldn’t turn on).  But I’m sure it was amazing.

As for Cat Deeley, she’s always looking amazing, despite her sometimes questionable outfits. Not sure what she has going on tonight, but she still looks fabulous.

  • Before we get to the results from the first group, leave a comment and let us know who you think will be in the bottom three.

  • Cat brings Kevin & Karen and Jakob & Ashleigh to the stage. This one is a no-brainer for me. If either of these groups are in the bottom it absolutely should be K&K. Ashleigh & Jakob are SAFE! Karen & Kevin are in the bottom three. Whoa…anyone else think Karen is looking like a Kardashian tonight or what?
  • We’re back form the commercial break and Cat is letting Ryan & Ellenore know that they are SAFE. As they should be after that killer performance last night. Noelle & Russel are up next and they are…going to have to wait until we see what Channing & Victor did last night. The results are in and the next group in the bottom is Channing & Victor. Noelle & Russel are SAFE!
  • What’s up with Mary saying that Channing and Victor have been consistently good each week.  Really?  Maybe she should borrow Marty McFly’s time machine and go back in time.  Both of these dancers have struggled mightily and been called out on it by the judges. Hmmm.
  • Who will be joining these two couples in the bottom three?  Will it be Legacy & Kathryn OR Nathan & Mollee?  If Legacy is dancing for his life tonight, I’m going to visit each and every one of you that voted for Nathan and Mollee.  I mean come one. After the vote, it’s Mollee & Nathan in the bottom three. Whew! Legacy & Kathryn are SAFE.
  • I’m quite fine with all the couples that are in the bottom three this week.  If I had my choice, before seeing the solos, I would send home Mollee and Kevin.  What about you?
  • And that my friends is how you dance Bollywood style. I love Bollywood. It’s so beautiful and colorful.  Come on, you know you were dancing in your seats at the end of ‘Slumdog Millionaire’
  • Yikes! Slight traffic overload tonight.  Seems we have a lot of people lurking and not joining in. Come on…don’t be shy.
  • It’s time to dance for your life.  Well, not our life. But you know what I mean.  First up is Karen.  She was warned last week that her solo wasn’t impressive enough. I think she really stepped it up tonight. Very strong and sexy.  A little J Lo’ish no?  As for her partner Kevin, I didn’t think his solo was all that spectacular. Channing has danced for her life a few times now. I can’t say that blew me away tonight.  Lots of air grabbing. As for her partner Victor, it was all about the pirouettes, they were good but good enough?  I’m not sure. The next two dancers will be back to dance after the break.
  • The judges know early in the day who the bottom three couples are.  You can’t tell me that the solos make all that much of a difference.  I think they already know who is going home.
  • The last two dancers tonight are Mollee and Nathan.  Mollee is up first.  Can someone give this girl a pony tail holder already.  Her hair is SO distracting.  Sorry I’m kind of over her.  I think she’s holding Nathan back in a big way.  He’s up next. I think his solo was a little sloppy tonight, but I did like he combined his contemporary background with his talent in hip hop. Uh oh…Uncle Nigel is already beaming about Mollee’s solo. Looks like she has a good shot at sticking around.  That’s not good news for Channing.
  • Some chick with a guitar is on the stage.  Ok question – maybe it’s just me, but I’d rather see performances from past SYTYCDancers during these breaks than these other filler musical acts. I’d love to have Benji, Nick, Ivan, Allison Hok, or any of the like back.  Let’s give our dancers some more exposure.  No?
  • The judges are back with the results. Up first are the girls. The judges are unanimous. Mollee is safe (ugh). That leaves Karen and Channing.  Tonight we are saying goodbye to Channing. Aw, Channing.  It’s sad to see a Boston gal go home. That leaves Russel representing my hometown.  Did the judges do the right thing tonight?
  • It’s time to say goodbye to one of the guys.  Again the judges are unanimous.  First up is Nathan.  He’s safe. (YES!) It’s now down to Kevin and Victor. The judges call Victor out on his pirouettes. It’s not America’s Favorite Pirouetter. Ha.  Sadly it’s Kevin that is going home tonight. Personally I think the judges made the right call with Kevin too.  It’s hard to see someone go home.  Would you have made the same choice?
  • So next week we’ll see Karen and Victor dance together for the first time.  Do you think this will be a good pairing?

Thanks so much for joining us tonight. We’ll be back next Thursday to live blog another episode of SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE.

The comments remain open, so keep the discussion alive.

Id be fine if Nathan and Mollee or Kevin and Karen went home. I like everyone else.

  2. Randi on November 18th, 2009 6:51 pm

I think it’s going to be Kevin & Karen. It seemed like they were the only people that were really dissed by the judges.

  3. Give Me My Remote on November 18th, 2009 7:16 pm

I would be crushed if Nathan went home because I think he is really held back by Mollee. I would be thrilled if she went home alone with Kevin.

I was in too much pain last night to watch SYTYCD. That being said, I was keeping up with Twitter so I could tune in to see Legacy and Katherine. I think that’s saying a lot. I LOVED their routine. Big fan (no surprise) of Ryan and Ellenore’s contemporary routine. Also, very surprised by how much I’ve come to like Ashleigh.

I guess there’s a lot of people I’m loving this year. LOL.

Yeah, Mollee needs to go. But she won’t. I think it will be Karen and Kevin. I don’t remember a season where I couldn’t figure out who would be in the bottom three at this stage. I think everyone with the exception of Karen and Kevin did really well last night. I didn’t feel the pop jazz piece by Mollee and Nathan, but I’m not sure if that’s just because she annoys me sooo much in the interview/rehearsal footage that I can’t get over her while she’s performing. Normally the drill instructor/choreographer who did this piece (sorry I’m blanking on her name. Laurie something maybe?) really bothers me because I think that she’s a horrible teacher, but I think her style of instruction was really needed for Mollee and Nathan to get them to act a bit more mature and take this a bit more seriously. (Not that I condone Nigel’s attack on Nathan last week at all. I think this week’s comments were way more accurate and appropriate).

Anyway, there’s a couple of my thoughts for y’all.

  5. Kimber on November 18th, 2009 9:04 pm

Wow – I really, really loved the opening number! I adore Wade Robson!

  6. Patty on November 18th, 2009 9:05 pm

In my head I just keep saying “go home go home go home” to Mollee and Nathan although maybe if Nathan was with Karen he might straighten up. If it didn’t come across as too pervy.

  7. ClioBC on November 18th, 2009 9:05 pm

I really liked that group dance, but – good god, Imogen Heap is friggin’ everywhere!

  8. Sara V on November 18th, 2009 9:09 pm

I dig Cat’s outfit, except, perhaps for the silver pendant thing hanging in the front. Don’t see how that fits with the rest of the vibe.

  9. Sara V on November 18th, 2009 9:11 pm

Bottom 3 guesses: I think Karen and Kevin, and maybe Victor and Channing (don’t seem to be getting the love from the at home audience, and their Blackbird piece could be alienating). As for the third couple, I’m thinking maybe…hmm. I don’t know.

  10. Give Me My Remote on November 18th, 2009 9:13 pm

I’m with you Sara. I think Channing and Tatum (he he) I mean Victor will be in the bottom. I think they did very well last night, but sometimes routines with quirky choreography don’t resonate with the voting audience.

  11. Kimber on November 18th, 2009 9:16 pm

I didn’t manage to watch the entire show last night (bad me), but I really hope Channing and Victor aren’t in the bottom! Their routine was the the favourite of the ones I saw.

  12. Sara V on November 18th, 2009 9:19 pm

Of those two left, I think it should be Mollee and Nathan, but have a feeling it won’t be them.

  13. Sara V on November 18th, 2009 9:22 pm

Random thought…why isn’t the upcoming benefit/gala for Dizzyfeet being televised? They could make so much money from people calling in, and I could see some great dance from the comfort of my couch in Chicago. Boo hoo.

  14. ClioBC on November 18th, 2009 9:23 pm

it better be the younger Bobbsey Twin pair

  15. Sarah (seeleybaby) on November 18th, 2009 9:24 pm

I loved Ryan and Ellenore’s dance last night, so I’m glad to see them safe. I thought Channing and Victor did well with what they had to work with, but Adam Shankman was right when he said the song detracted from the connection to the dance. Even the audience sat in silence while it was happening, almost as if they weren’t sure how to react.

My prediction is that Mollie and Kevin go home. We shall see!

  16. Sara V on November 18th, 2009 9:27 pm

You know looking back at that clip, I don’t know how Mary said Mollee was perfect (really, this isn’t based on my annoyance with her). She looked really out of control and – I don’t really know how to describe it – but wobbly and uncontrolled. Don’t know if this was the purpose or not, but it didn’t work for me.

Holy crap, they’re in the bottom three! Color me surprised!

Okay, maybe if I say it, the judges will prove me wrong. This will never happen, but I think Mollee and Kevin should go home.

  17. jet on November 18th, 2009 9:29 pm

    Bollywood!

I really don’t wanna see Kevin go. I think he is great. I could be ok with Victor leaving from the guys.

  18. DJ on November 18th, 2009 9:33 pm

Kevin is definitely going home for the guys. I think it will be between Karen and Channing for the girls. But you never really know do you.

  19. Sara V on November 18th, 2009 9:38 pm

No offense, Karen, because you are a great dancer. But I think I could’ve done the solo you just danced. And I’m definitely a “mover” not a “dancer” in the parlance of SYTYCD.

  20. Kimber on November 18th, 2009 9:40 pm

Agreed – didn’t much care for Karen’s solo. Seemed like she was shimmying across the stage, having fun – not actually performing a routine.

  21. Sarah (seeleybaby) on November 18th, 2009 9:42 pm

    Agree about Karen
Thought Channing tried to act like she cared.
not that she doesn’t care, but i think she tried, that’s my point.

  22. DJ on November 18th, 2009 9:44 pm

Kevin is leaving and I think Channing will leave to.

  23. Sara V on November 18th, 2009 9:46 pm

I agree with you, Kath, about Mollee’s hair (and my general feeling of “over it”). I guess I’m glad that Nigel commented on the aerial onto the knee. I totally thought that was a mistake and she didn’t get all the way around, so “kneed” it. Shows you how much I know.

  24. Give Me My Remote on November 18th, 2009 9:47 pm

Looks like I’m in the minority on Karen’s dance. I didn’t think it was spectacular but I think she was much more serious about it tonight.

  25. DJ on November 18th, 2009 9:47 pm

I don’t think Mollee is holding Nathan back I think Nathan is holding Mollee back. Nathan comes off like a cocky little bugger. It bothers me, but he is a great dancer.

  26. ClioBC on November 18th, 2009 9:55 pm

whose song is this season’s ‘so long and thanks for playing’ video montage?

  27. Sara V on November 18th, 2009 9:56 pm

Hmm, Kath. I think the girls’ choice was a tough call. Karen’s been really great, but Channing’s been improving and had two really amazing weeks. Don’t know if it’ll matter much after next week. I think Karen might be done after then, if she has a weak week again.

  28. Sara V on November 18th, 2009 9:58 pm

“So long and thanks for playing” — haha, ClioBC.

  29. ClioBC on November 18th, 2009 9:58 pm

so, does this mean that Russell is the last one standing among the Boston audiioners?

  30. Sarah (seeleybaby) on November 18th, 2009 9:59 pm

    Thanks, Kath for hosting!

  31. Sara V on November 18th, 2009 10:00 pm

Yeah, I think that the judges got it right.

Time for GLEE! Thanks, Kath! Good luck tomorrow.

  32. Jame on November 18th, 2009 10:49 pm

What was the name if channings solo I totallly heard it before and wanted to get it and I didn’t get to see it on thee tv!

  33. Patty on November 19th, 2009 1:00 am

Totally OK with who went home tonight. Although you know my hate for Nathan and Mollee. I hope the judges don’t regret not taking the chance to boot them off now. I don’t get the judges flippy floppiness on these two. We are seeing tremendous growth from most (not all) of the other dancers nut I am not seeing it in these two.

I am excited to see what happens with Jakob and Karen. I am thinking hot tamale train.

  34. Leira on November 19th, 2009 1:31 am

I think Mollee is amazingly annoying. I’m kind of sad to see Channing go…but it was to happen if not tonight, next week. I’m not all that bothered that Kevin got the boot…
