What? You can’t handle two podcasts in two days? Yeah, that’s right…Ducky and I have been chatterboxes. Yesterday we shared our thoughts on the new CBS shows as part of our Fall TV podcast series. And today, well today we’ve got more of general TV Talk Podcast, but it’s definitely a GLEEful podcast.
Tonight is the fall premiere of GLEE so we thought we’d start the podcast off this week with an in depth conversation about the first few episodes (which we’ve already seen) including Glee Cast Interviews!
After Glee, we briefly talk about this week’s TRUE BLOOD finale, our upcoming Los Angeles trip and SUPERNATURAL! Then it’s on to MAD MEN, AMERICA’S BEST DANCE CREW and BIG BANG THEORY casting news. We finally talk about this season of PROJECT RUNWAY and tease some of our Fall TV Preview podcasts.
*Recorded 9/7/09

Ellen DeGeneres Dances with the SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCErs

THIS is why I need my own talk show. Ellen DeGeneres kicked off her 7th season on Tuesday by performing a choreographed routine along with the top ten finalists from Season 5 of SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE. I’m so jealous! Way to kick it, Ellen!
Yes, the Season 5 winner was just crowned, but tonight kicks off Season 6 of SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE. We’ve got more than a few weeks of auditions, and the of course Vegas week, before we get to the real competition. Bring it! I’m ready!

You gotta love these short weeks. It’s already Wednesday! And it’s Wednesday on the brand new Fall TV season which means I’m jumping out of my skin with excitement. Why? Well, I’ve got two words for you – SYTYCD & GLEE (ok technically not two words but just go with it)!
Although it just a few weeks ago that Jeanine Mason was crowned the S5 champion, the best dance show on TV is back tonight to kick off it’s sixth season. We’ve got almost a month of auditions before we get to the real competition, but I’m ok with that. Just to think – Cat Deeley – back on TV in just a matter of hours. Welcome back SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE!
And in what is probably the most long awaited second episode of the Fall season, we finally get a new episode of GLEE tonight. This is can’t miss TV! Here’s to hoping all the promotion effort Fox has put behind the show has paid off. With Obama on most of the networks, GLEE has a chance for a big night. Fingers crossed! Later today, an all-new TV Talk Podcast will be posted during which Dan and I spend a fair amount of time talking about GLEE – what works, what they could be doing better, and how much we worship Chris Colfer (just wait, you will too). We’re careful not to spill too many spoilers, so I think it’s safe for everyone to listen.
After all this, the least you could do is tell me what shows YOU will be watching tonight!
Presidential Address | 8pm on ABC, NBC, CBS
After months of criticism that he has failed to outline a specific health care reform plan, President Obama will address a joint session of Congress tonight in a speech aides say will be to the point. At stake for the president: getting Democratic factions on board with his plan and convincing Americans of the need for health care reform [GMMR: I grabbed that blurb from CNN.com. Read it over a few times and see if it doesn’t sound like an episode of a reality show to you. Clearly Obama has won HOH. But who will win the healthcare POV? Ha! Ha!]
So You Think You Can Dance | 8pm on Fox | Season Premiere
“Season 6”
The SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE team start their journey across the country to find America’s favorite dancer. One of tonight’s featured audition cities will be Boston, MA. Cat Deely hosts.
America’s Next Top Model | 8pm on The CW | Season Premiere
“How Short Can You Go; The Early Bird Gets a Makeover”
Fourteen contestants, who are 5-feet-7-inches or shorter, move into their home in Los Angeles; the contestants receive makeovers.
Glee | 9pm on Fox | Season Premiere
“Showmance”
The club performs for the first time in front of the school population; Sue Sylvester sends the “Cheerios” to infiltrate the group.
Ghost Hunters | 9pm on SyFy
“I am Not Guilty”
The team investigates alleged paranormal activity at the Essex County Jail in New Jersey. [GMMR: For what it’s worth, I can’t even have this show on the background. I don’t know how you people watch this and still sleep through the night.]
Top Chef: Las Vegas | 10pm on Bravo
“Vivre Ls Vegas”
The contestants pair up to create the perfect French dish for acclaimed chefs Joël Robuchon, Daniel Boulud, Hubert Keller, Laurent Tourondel and Jean Joho.
Leverage | 9pm on TNT
“The Lost Heir Job”
The con is on when Nate’s justice league targets a shady lawyer who’s out to wrest control of his client’s estate. Parker moves to the forefront of the scheme, masquerading as a long-lost daughter. Jeri Ryan and Peter Riegert guest star.
Dark Blue | 10pm on TNT
“Betsy”
Jaimie revisits her dark past when she goes undercover as her former self in a mission to crush a big-shot smuggler. For the case to succeed, she must reconnect with a bygone acquaintance—and ask a big favor of her boyfriend.

WAREHOUSE 13: Breakdown
September 9, 2009 by Sarah Curtis
Filed under #1 featured, Posts by Sarah (Seels), Warehouse 13
Beggars can’t be choosers, Warehouse 13 watchers, you know? And while I have been waiting all season for a ‘warehouse-centric’ episode, this one was also heavy on the Claudia, which is just not my cup of Leena’s Bed and Breakfast tea. I’m not complaining; I’m just saying that this episode was a like, not love for me.
General Premise: Artie is away dealing with top secret issues, and Pete and Myka get the day off, while Claudia has chores.
Of course, it doesn’t work out that way, when Claudia accidentally sets off a Rube Goldberg-esque series of hazardous events (who has a release button on a zip line? And if you DO, why isn’t it guarded by glass, at least?).
But it’s up to our two top secret agents to find her and then get themselves out of the mess she created. One very interesting part of the warehouse was the replica of Leena’s B & B, from which they at first could not escape. I laughed a lot at Pete’s attempts, especially him jumping out one window only to fall into the one right next to it. Many months ago, I read the pilot script, and there was this great thread where Pete and Myka show up at Leena’s for the first time, and it is nothing special. But once they have solved the first case and agreed to stick around, they go back to the B and B for the night and each of their bedrooms has become the perfect bedroom. I missed that in the pilot, and when I saw ‘Bizarro-Leena’s’, I thought maybe that would happen. Alas, no.

Who Won HOH on BIG BROTHER?

Yikes! Sorry…I was out tonight and didn’t realize that so many people would be coming here trying to find out who won tonight’s HOH competition on BIG BROTHER.
I’m just turned on the live feeds now and Natalie, Kevin and Jordan are on still in the game. I’ll be back with updates as soon as there is news to share.
Stay tuned…
(Go Jordan…Go Kevin….Go everyone who is not named Natalie!)
While we’re waiting, head over to CBS and cast your vote for your favorite houseguest. That person will win a special $25,000 prize. I think you all know who gets my vote this season.
11:14pm EST: The houseguests are facing some treacherous weather but all three of them are still walking on the log.
12:46am EST: These fools are still hanging on. Big Brother could make them fall off. I’m convinced they aren’t going to turn up the heat (so to speak) until half way through BIG BROTHER AFTER DARK. It’s the new Fall season and Showtime will want as many people as possible to be watching their little promo breaks. Just my opinion.
1:21am EST: Just fall already people! I’m not young anymore. I need to sleep.
1:28am EST: JORDAN just fell. Nooooooo!

So was it Michelle or Jordan joining Jeff, Russell, Lydia and Jessie in the jury house?

There’s No Place Like MELROSE PLACE
September 8, 2009 by Kath Skerry
Filed under #1 featured, Melrose Place
Cautiously optimistic. That’s what I’m feeling about the all new MELROSE PLACE, premiering tonight at 9/8c on The CW. Like many others, I groaned with displeasure last year upon hearing the news that The CW was yet again resurrecting one of my favorite guilty pleasures of yesteryear. As a fan of the original 90210, I wasn’t pleased with fancy new version that launched last year and so it’s fair to say that my expectations for the new MELROSE were decidedly low. All this of course before I ever watched the pilot. But now that I have, as I said before, I’m going with cautiously optimistic.
I think its fair to assume you’re going to see the same trashtastic drama, overindulgence, and bed-hopping that was part of the original MELROSE PLACE – but I didn’t say that was a bad thing. In fact this particular MELROSE PLACE has all those things, but this time around the show is owning it. The producers know what worked with previous version of this show and it seems like they are trying to build off the best of the former MELROSE.
While far from perfect, I was actually surprised by how much I enjoyed tonight’s season premiere. While some of the storylines (and actors) were clearly stronger than others, there was just enough to get my attention and leaving me wanting to indulge more in this, the guiltiest of pleasures.
Some of the names have changed but the address has stayed the same. Fans of the original MELROSE will not only see some familiar faces returning, but parallels of characters that comprised the original series. There’s Ella, played by perhaps the show’s strongest actor, Katie Cassidy (Harper’s Island, Supernatural), who is a hot shot Hollywood agent who doesn’t let anyone or anything stand in her way. The stunning looks and blonde hair aren’t the only similarities between Cassidy’s Ella and Heather Locklear’s Amanda.

I guess it’s time to officially welcome you to the 2009 Fall TV season. The always eager CW is the first to arrive to the party with the return of 90210 and the premiere of MELROSE PLACE (and suddenly I’m transported back to college…bizarre). I’ll be posting a schedule of premiere dates later today so you know exactly when newbies and old faves will be returning.

PROJECT RUNWAY: Rumble on the Runway
September 4, 2009 by Kath Skerry
Filed under #1 featured, Project Runway, Project Runway Recaps, TV News
Why is it that every season at least a few of the designers need to be personally escorted back to Kindergarten to learn all over again how to play nice with others? Geesh. I get it…they’re artist, they’re creative people and they don’t like anyone impeding on their artistry. Get over yourselves. Despite what the producers think, personally all the petty bickering does nothing for me. For me it’s all about the fashion, oh and Tim Gunn…and tonight Rachel Bilson, but uh, yeah, the fashion.
Tonight’s challenge took the designers out of the studio and on to the beach. The designers were paired up to create a surf inspired look that infused the beauty and culture of the surfing lifestyle with their own personal point of view as a designers. I can’t say I saw much of the “surf” look on the runway tonight. Most of the designers just went for summer wear. Is it the same? Hmm. There were a few hits and only a few misses, but the misses missed it big time.
Before we get to the designs, can I please say how annoying the gratuitous Garnier product placement was last night. Having the stylist on the beach talking about how he was going to give the models the perfect beach hair was ridiculous. Why is it different than any other week when the models go to the Garnier hair salon?! Ease up there, PR producers. I know you’re on Lifetime know and you need the money, but that was cheesy.
All my bah humbugging aside, let’s get to the runway.
Shirin & Carol Hannah
These two looks were my favorite of the runway. I thought the surf-inspired dress was beautiful, but when it cut away to reveal itself as a pseudo cover-up I was floored. Very cool. And while I thought there was a lot of fabric going on in the avant garde look, I still thought it was beautiful.
Althea & Louise
The dress was cute but not necessarily all that exciting. It looked too much like a beach cover-up. I think it was intentional, but I still didn’t love it. The avant garde piece was one of the nicer of that style tonight. I didn’t see any cohesiveness between the two looks.
