BIG BROTHER is Watching You…Will YOU Be Watching?

I will not apologize for my love of reality TV. I refuse. No on should have to defend where they derive entertainment from. And with that, may I just say BIG BROTHER IS BACK TONIGHT!!!
The season kind of snuck up on me. Usually I post all about the new houseguests and share a sneak peek inside the new BB house. This season I’m going in relatively fresh. No idea who these people are, what the house looks like or even anything about this season secret twist. I’m ready for pretty much everything.
All I know about this season if what’s I’ve seen in the promos. In tonight’s season opener, the 12 houseguests are introduced and enter the compound for the first time. They are divided into one of four cliques (popular, athletes, brainiacs, off-beats) to compete in their first challenge. The off-beats? Are those the stoners?
If you’re a GMMR reader and a BIG BROTHER fan, I’m excited to watch along with you this summer. If you’re anti-BIG BROTHER, well you might want to skip a bunch of BB related posts that will be undoubtedly be appearing on this site. If you’ve never seen BIG BROTHER and want to watch along with us here this summer, I say go for it. Give it a shot. Why not?
Airing three times a week (Tuesdays, Thursdays & Sundays), BIG BROTHER can be a big commitment. Somehow it doesn’t seem too daunting to me – at least I’m not watching the 24/7 live feeds this year. (And it’s kind of killing me not to, but I have to draw a line).
So I’m in. Drop me a line if you are. I’m ready to go. Bring on the ChenBot!
Tune in to BIG BROTHER tonight at 8pm; Sunday at 8pm and Tuesday at 9pm on CBS.

WAREHOUSE 13 – An Invitation to Endless Wonder
July 8, 2009 by Sarah Curtis
Filed under #1 featured, Posts by Sarah (Seels), Warehouse 13
Well, did you enjoy our first ‘invitation to endless wonder’? I have to admit, I really loved WAREHOUSE 13’s premiere episodes. The show isn’t going to end world hunger or anything, but it was good. Very good, I thought.
The Museum of Natural History serves as center stage for the first of what will surely be many standoffs between two thirds of the show’s leads – Secret Service Agents Myka Bering and Pete Lattimer. Both are charged with protecting the President, although they have very different ways of doing their job. She’s by the book. He’s all instinct. Clearly their ways don’t mesh and instant tension (soon to be sexual tension, I’m sure) ensues.
“Line of the night, from Pete: “Why don’t you pull your head out of your magenta and feel the room?””
Pete’s instincts lead him to remove a stone head that oddly enough seems to be bleeding. Sure enough it’s that same mysterious bleeding head that has seemingly possessed one of the museum workers. Good thing Myka’s observation skills are up to par, because she gets to the would be killer before he can get to the President.
While taking the stone head out of the museum, Pete encounters a strange man who takes the head from him and disappears in an instant. Odd. But since the strange man is nowhere to be found and the stone head is missing, Agent Lattimer has some explaining to do.

Welcome to my favorite weekday of the summer. Yes, it’s Wednesday. Hump Day if you will. I prefer to just think of it as SYTYCD performance day. And once again I’ll be getting together with Ducky and some of our other friends to watch. It’s such a fun time. I really wish you all could be there.
But it’s not all about SYTYCD (ok, it kind of is for me). There are plenty of shows for you to check out tonight.
Here are a few highlights from tonight’s TV lineup. If I missed anything leave me a comment or tweet me at twitter.com/gmmr.
Wipeout | 8pm on ABC
For the first time ever, tonight couples will compete in the obstacle course for a chance to win $50,000. [GMMR: While I wasn’t the biggest fan of the couples competition, I’m fine with it being a one-time change of pace. Both husband & wife need to complete the obstacle before moving on and that seemed to really drag things down. But then there’s always the big balls to make me happy again 😉]
So You Think You Can Dance | 8pm on Fox
Tonight the guys and the girls are paired up and the Top 12 dancers will take the stage for the second week of competition. [GMMR: Can you believe we are already to the Top 12?! Spoilers later today. Podcast coming tomorrow!]
I Survived a Japanese Game Show | 9pm on ABC
Contestants play Snap Attack, Paint Splash Madness and Alien Took My Teddy Bear as they compete to become the last one standing. [GMMR: I love WIPEOUT, but for some reason this show really irks me. I know some people love it though. If you are one of those people…enjoy!]
The Philanthropist| 10pm on ABC
“Paris”
Cole and Beaumont search for a criminal who breaks into apartments and films adult movies; Casey tries to help a serial accuser who was once the victim of a violent attack. [GMMR: I just learned that the guy that this show is based is from my the town I grew up in – Malden, MA. Bizarre!]
Top Chef Masters | 10pm on Bravo
“Magic Chefs”
The chefs must each cook an egg with one hand tied behind their back; guests include actor Neil Patrick Harris. [GMMR: You had me at NPH!]
On the late night couch…
- The Late Show with David Letterman: Queen Latifah, Emma Watson
- The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien: Meredith Vieira, Andy Hillstrang, Al Madrigal

Today’s the day – I will finally…finally be getting my computer back from Apple. Great news, right? Well, not really. It seems that the “geniuses” at Apple couldn’t replicate the issues I’ve been having so they are giving me the computer back with nothing changed. Good thing they had it almost a week. Clearly they had it sitting around, because there is no way they were actively testing it and not found the issue. A computer less than a year old should NOT just suddenly freeze up, with no option but to manually reboot, oh 5 or 6 times a night! Come on now.
So I’ll get my computer back today, which hopefully means GMMR will be back to updating on a more regular schedule. But seeing that it’s probably going to have to go back to the Apple Store, I fear that this won’t be the only disruption the blog will see all summer. At least it’s not happening during the Fall TV season, right? Heads would roll.
Enough about that. Let’s talk about what’s on TV tonight.
There’s quite a lot of great TV to get excited about tonight. Personally I can’t wait to tune into WAREHOUSE 13 to see what it’s all about. Here’s to hoping the new “Syfy” give us the same level of quality at the previous SciFi channel.
What will YOU be watching tonight?
10 Things I Hate About You | 8pm on ABC Family | Series Premiere
Stratford sisters Kat and Bianca take different approaches to life in a new high school. [GMMR: I was excited but weary when I first watched the premiere. Loved the movie, but the TV show – at least the premiere – is a weak imitation. The writing has no substance and the acting is horrible. Perhaps it will get better with the second episode? I’ll wait off on writing the inevitable “10 Things I Hate About This Show” post.]
The Superstars | 8pm on NBC
Each competitor must swim across the lagoon at the Atlantis; each competitor must score as many points as they can in a basketball game. [GMMR: Caught an episode of this show randomly at a friend’s house – lame.]
Warehouse 13 | 9pm on Syfy | 2-hour Series Premiere
Following an abrupt transfer, two Secret Service agents, Pete Lattimer and Myka Bering, find themselves in the middle of South Dakota at a massive, top-secret storage warehouse that holds every strange artifact, mysterious relic, out-of-this-world object and supernatural souvenir ever found by the U.S. government. [GMMR: We’re going to be covering the show on GMMR so I hope you’ll tune in tonight and talk about it with us tomorrow. For a preview of the premiere, click here: What’s in Warehouse 13?]
America’s Got Talent | 9pm on NBC: More auditions. [GMMR: If you’re a fan of this show, can you leave a comment and explain to me how it works? When the auditions end, what happens next? Do all the people that made it through then go to a next round? How many rounds are there? I’m confused?]
HawthoRNe | 9pm on TNT
“All the Wrong Places”
Christina tries to save a Korean woman and her little boy after a car accident; Bobbie helps a young woman on the verge of losing her arm because of gangrene.
Saving Grace | 10pm on TNT
“What Would You Do?”
TThe team focuses on a series of home invasions. Elsewhere, Grace encounters a downcast angel named Matthew (F. Murray Abraham), who tempts her with an intriguing offer.
Rescue Me | 10pm on FX
“Wheels”
Franco steps into the ring; an act of goodwill backfires on the crew; Sean reveals his financial scheme.
Also playing…
- The Great American Road Trip | 8pm on NBC | Season Premiere: The contestants start their journey at Wrigley Field.
- The Cleaner | 10pm on A&E: William is hired to help a pregnant East Indian girl who is addicted to meth; William kidnaps the girl on her wedding day and decides to take her to his safe house for detox instead of to the hospital; William struggles with his separation from Melissa.
On the late night couch…
- The Late Show with David Letterman: Sacha Baron Cohen, Joel McHale, Rob Thomas
- The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien: Samuel L. Jackson, Kevin Connolly, Andrew Bird
- The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson: Evan Rachel Wood, Christopher Gorham
- Late Night with Jimmy Fallon: Anne Hathaway, Will Forte, Jon Favreau, Mario Batali (R 6/1/09)
- Jimmy Kimmel Live: Kathy Griffin, Ramon Rodriguez, Ben Harper (R 6/18/09)
- Chelsea Lately: Michael Buble, Josh Wolf, Brad Wollack, Whitney Cummings
- Last Call with Carson Daly: Patton Oswalt, M83 (R 3/11/09)

What’s in WAREHOUSE 13? New Syfy Mystery Premieres Tonight
July 7, 2009 by Sarah Curtis
Filed under #1 featured, Posts by Sarah (Seels), Warehouse 13
On Tuesday, July 7th, the SciFi channel is making a change. The new ‘Syfy’ channel will be revealed during the premiere of what they hope is a flagship series, WAREHOUSE 13. The new motto for the channel? Imagine Greater.
And that’s just what WAREHOUSE 13 (TUESDAY, JULY 7th at 9:00 PM) is all about. Imagine a place where some of America’s greatest secrets are kept away, contained and stored for observation and safety. Meanwhile other, new and mysterious artifacts are being found every day, and it’s up to the team to ‘snag em, bag em and tag em’. The team is made up of two top Secret Agents, Pete Lattimer and Myka Bering, who, after saving the life of the President, are ‘promoted’ to Warehouse 13 to join the eccentric curator of the South Dakota based warehouse, Artie Nielson, played by Saul Rubinek (Frasier).
Pete and Myka, played by Eddie McClintock (“Bones”, “My Boy”s) and Joanne Kelly (“Dresden Files”, “Jeremiah”) are on opposite ends of the spectrum, personality wise with Pete as the intuitive bring it on type and Myka as the logical let’s think about it type. Compared already to BONES (Booth and Brennan) and X FILES (Scully and Mulder), the show’s success will depend greatly on whether these two first time leads can pull off chemistry and good storylines.
This week’s two hour pilot of what executive producer/show runner Jack Kenny calls “an action adventure proceduromedy” involves Myka and Pete saving the President, getting their new assignments to South Dakota, and becoming immersed in the “strange artifacts, mysterious relics, fantastical objects and supernatural souvenirs” of the Warehouse. Their new assignment is to travel around to retrieve and neutralized unidentified objects that could potentially cause harm, as well as keep the current artifacts in the warehouse safe.
Personally, I’m most excited for McClintock in a starring role. I loved him as sexy Agent Sully on Bones and as the perfect Hank on My Boys. I don’t know much about Joanne Kelly, but from the promos I’ve seen, she seems to play the uptight, but secretly vulnerable type pretty well. The artifacts seem very intriguing to me as well. Syfy seems to be pinning a lot of hopes on this series, and I for one hope it measures up! Below is a link to the official trailer, and be sure to check back on Wednesday for a review of the pilot!
We’ll be keeping close tabs on WAREHOUSE 13 this summer and I hope you’ll join in on the mystery every week with us.

Who Went Home on SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE?

UPDATE: Click here to find out who went home on SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE (August 5th)
PREVIOUS POST
I’m not going to let something like a lack of a computer stop me from talking about who went home on tonight’s SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE. Blogging from my iPhone might not be ideal, but I think it’s indicative of my love for SYTYCD. Tonight’s recap might be a little more truncated than usual, but it will cover the basics – namely who danced their last dance.
If you haven’t yet listened to our Top 14 performance podcast, head over to TheTVTalkPodcast.com site to listen in. You can also find us on iTunes by searching: “TV Talk Podcast”.
I’m sure the opening number was beautiful. It certainly was joyous and explosive. But for me the horrendous camera work completely ruined it for me. I don’t remember another time when the camera work was so distracting. Had I been properly warned I could have taken some Dramamine.
Getting right down to business, Cat brings the first two couples on to the stage.
- Karla & Vitolio – Bottom Three
- Randi & Evan – SAFE
One couple is already in the bottom three, who will be joining them?
- Janette & Brandon – SAFE
- Kayla & Kupono -Bottom Three
- Melissa & Ade – SAFE
What?! Are you kidding me? I thought the “Twilight” dance was one of the highlights of the season thus far. Well, barring a major meltdown, the judges aren’t going to send Kayla or Kupono home tonight, so I see it as a bonus performance from them this week.
With only two couples left, one will soon be joining Kayla & Kupono and Karla & Vitolio in the bottom three. But who will it be?
- Jeanine & Philip – Bottom Three
- Caitlin & Jason – SAFE
Hmm. This is going to be interesting. Philip is obviously going to have an amazing solo. So that doesn’t look good for Vitolio. Personally I don’t think Vitolio should go home based just on Philip’s wavey arms, but I think that’s exactly what’s going to happen. Vitolio has been in the bottom three most weeks so far, so that doesn’t help his cause at all.
As for the girls, it’s really going to come down to the solos of Karla and Jeanine. Kayla has nothing to worry about.
Before we get to the special performances tonight, I need to mention Cat’s sex hair. Was that by design or did her stylist not make it to the stage in time for a touch-up?
Neil Patrick Harris to Host the Emmys
July 2, 2009 by Kath Skerry
Filed under #1 featured, Neil Patrick Harris, TV Awards
It’s time to suit up. Ok, maybe not today, but definitely on September 20, 2009. That’s when Neil Patrick Harris will take the stage as host of the 61st Annual Emmy Awards.
Variety first reported rumors of the negotiations today, and now comes word through sources that it’s a done deal. Neil, who seems to be the industry’s go to host these days is no stranger to the role of emcee. Most recently he hosted The TV Land Awards and then was much applauded for his role as host of Broadway’s Tony Awards.
After last year’s disastrous reality show host tag team effort, the Academy really needed to gain back not only viewers, but some credibility. Tapping Neil as host takes care of both those issues. Plus we get to see Neil in a tux for a few hours. I’m not complaining.
Here’s to hoping that hosting isn’t Neil’s only obligation on Emmy night. It’s about this boy accept his long overdue Emmy for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy. Fingers crossed!
So TV fans…was Neil Patrick Harris a good choice for Emmy host? Was there someone else you had in mind? Sound off below.

It’s been a bizarre few days. No TV. No internet…what’s a girl to do? Read?
Despite this update, things are still going to be a bit shaky over the next few days. My poor little Mac has had some issues and I had to drop her off at the Apple Store. I’ve been without a computer since Monday and I’m not sure when I’ll have her back. I miss her terribly. I’ll try to post when I can but things are going to remain somewhat quiet until I can back into my routine. Sorry. It’s killing me.
As for the big move, well I’m pretty much settled in. For those of you who sent emails wishing me well, I appreciate it. I’m sorry I haven’t been able to write back yet…but I will.
Ok on to tonight’s TV. Here are a few shows that you might want to check out tonight. There aren’t many original episodes tonight, so I included a few worthwhile reruns for your viewing pleasure.
Which shows will YOU be checking out tonight? Leave a comment here or send me a message via Twitter.
Samantha Who? | 8pm on ABC
“Todd’s Job”
Samantha tries to sabotage Todd’s competition for a job at a local newspaper; Regina secretly puts Dena’s house on the market.
So You Think You Can Dance | 9pm on Fox
One guy and one girl are eliminated from the competition. The couples with the three lowest votes will dance for their lives. Then it’s up to the judges to decide which two go home tonight. A special performance by Kelly Clarkson. [GMMR: No computer meant no blogging last night’ SYTYCD, but Dan & I did record a podcast so look for that soon.]
The Listener | 10pm on NBC
“Lisa Says”
A troubled boy runs away from the hospital after narrowly escaping a gang beating. While trying to find him, Toby encounters a group of runaways and discovers that a young girl is also missing.
If you haven’t seen it before, it’s new to YOU…

- Grey’s Anatomy | 10pm on ABC: Everyone in the hospital tries to find a new organ donor for a patient; Mark is left in a compromising position; Cristina tries to avoid Owen.
There’s also a repeat of SUPERNATURAL, but selfishly I don’t want to post the episode description because now that I know what’s going on with these Winchester boys, I don’t want to be spoiled.
