THE REAL HOUSEWIVES OF NEW JERSEY Recap: Casinos & C-Cups

This week Team Sane ditched the Franklin Lakes drama and had a girls-only weekend in Atlantic City. Caroline, Dina and Teresa stayed at the Water Club Hotel and shopped, lounged around by the pool and dined out. Seemed like a nice relaxing trip, which unfortunately doesn’t make for exciting television. The only notable happening was a phone call from Steve (Danielle’s tadpole) requesting permission to use Teresa’s shore house accompanied by another woman.

Team Insane (membership 1) stuck around Franklin Lakes and celebrated her birthday by throwing herself a pity party. Danielle whines about not having someone special to celebrate with, the growing distance between herself and Jacqueline and her desire to break-up with Steve…waaah.

Ultimately Danielle does end things with Steve later in the episode. She cries. He smiles. Afterwards she informs her daughters of Steve’s intentions to keep contact with them. But the girls are wise beyond their years and aren’t buying it. The eldest one points out that men only date her mom for her “goodies.” Observant girl that Christina.

As for Jacqueline, she is slowly gravitating towards Team Sane. Cutting back on communication with Danielle, refusing to talk about certain topics with Danielle and openly admitting that her family does not want her to have anything to do with Danielle. All signs that it’s not long before she chooses a side (and quits this neutral act).

Teresa goes in for her consultation to get her new bubbies. That poor doctor! Man alive, even I was embarrassed for him: 4 Jersey housewives and a camera crew. He actually stumbled on a couple words there. In the end, Teresa goes through with it and goes from a “minus A” to a “C-Cup.” I actually kinda like her husband Joe. He smiles a lot and comes across as a softie (even though he probably isn’t).

Bravo entitled this episode “Casinos & C-Cups.” I think “Goodies & Bubbies” is way better. Don’t go getting all classy on us Bravo, I saw what is in store for next week!

SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE Spoilers

The SO YOU THINK YOU DANCE sleuths are already earning their keep.  Tonight the Top 10 guys and the Top 10 girls will be paired up in the first night of competition.  And we’ve got the scoop on who is paired with whom, who choreographed what, and the different styles we’ll be seeing tonight.

As you may or may not know, SYTYCD actually records the Wednesday night performance show on Tuesday night. But the Thursday results show is live.

If you just can’t wait until tonight and you must know right now all the juicy details, keep on reading.

About Last Night: GREEK, NURSE JACKIE, Kathy Griffin and More…

Last night was an extravaganza of television.  What shows made their way into your home last night? My super quick thoughts on what I watched and then I’ll turn it over to YOU.

Greek…
Why oh why are not more of you people watching GREEK (says the girl who just got caught up last season)? Next week is the season finale, but the show comes back at the end of August.  If I can watch 2 seasons in 7 days, surely you can get caught up in two months.  I’m not steering you in the wrong direction, the show is that good.

As for last night.  The IKI/Omega Chi float was brizilliant! Well, at least after Rusty and Heath’s “modifications”. Who knew that ABC Family would allow such crass sexual innuendo.  Loved it!  But I must say that I was disappointed that Heath will be leaving Kappa Tau early to start Med School.  I had high hopes that he and Calvin would be “playing baseball” again soon.

More drama for Cappie and Casey. Raise your hand if you thought their fight by the truck would result in some smooching!

I’ve seen next week’s finale and it’s so good. I’m not saying more than that right now out of fear that I will spoil you all.

Nurse Jackie…
When I start bitching and moaning about how high my cable bill is every month, please remind me just how incredible NURSE JACKIE is.  Did you guys watch? Did you love it?  I’m a few episode ahead and I can tell you that it just keeps on getting better.  Edie Falco is ridiculous!

And how about the supporting cast?  Fantastic.  I have not been this excited about a show in a long time.  NURSE JACKIE is smart, sassy and good…for all the wrong reasons.

My Life on the D List…
I’m a big fan of Kathy Griffin. She’s obnoxious and sometimes offensive but I love every catty part of her. But I was really disappointed in last night’s season premiere of MY LIFE OF THE D LIST.  In what I fear will be the theme of the season, Kathy is meeting with a bunch of A-listers in the hopes of climbing up the celebrity ladder of fame.  Last night, Kathy spent some time with the ferosh Bette Midler.  Love Bette. Love Kathy. It should have been great.  But it wasn’t.  Kathy came across as desperate and at time amateurish. It was uncomfortable to watch her be belittled by Miss M. I know their banter was part of the shtick, but Kathy came across as just too needy.  This is a comedienne that sells out Carnegie Hall.  She needs to step her A (lister) game a bit.

Jon & Kate Plus 8…
I missed it! And Jon and Kate shared screen time! I wonder if it’s available online?  It’s ok if it’s not since last night I read about 4 different recaps. What is wrong with me?  I’m hooked.  But I can hold my head high because there are professional TV critics watching “I’m a Celebrity” every night.  At least I’m better off than them. Ha!

What else…

The season premiere of WEEDS, THE CLOSER, RAISING THE BAR….any fans?!

Let’s talk TV. Share your thoughts on the shows above, or anything else that caught your fancy last night.

A Sneak Peek at Tonight’s REAL HOUSEWIVES OF NJ

I can’t tell you how many emails I received from people telling me that I was missing out by not watching THE REAL HOUSEWIVES OF (fill in the blank). Believe it or not, it’s one of those shows that everyone watches but few admit to.

When my friend Amy volunteered to cover THE REAL HOUSEWIVES ON NEW JERSEY for GMMR this season I vowed that I would tune in to see what all the hoopla was about. It took me a few weeks, but I’m there.  I’m completely caught up and completely addicted. These women are absolutely insane. Certifiable at times.  But my god they make for fun, brainless TV – who doesn’t need that during the summer months.

If you’re already a fan, or maybe thinking about the show tonight at 10pm on Bravo, then here are a few clips to get you ready for tonight’s episode.

Manzo Family Workout

Drawback to Going Out

It’s only Tuesday?  Really?  It’s going to be one of those weeks. Let’s get through it together, deal?!

Not a ton of new TV on tonight, but enough to keep you from being bored. I’m excited to see Angela Kinsey from THE OFFICE on with Conan! And I’m equally excited for my buddy Jamie Kaler to be talking with Chelsey Handler.  Between those shows and the Real Housewives, I’m guaranteed to laugh tonight!

Mental | 9pm on Fox
“Book of Judges”
Jack attempts a highly unorthodox treatment for a famous philosopher (David Carradine) who lapsed into a catatonic state after a lightning strike killed his wife and crippled him. [GMMR: How awkward. The late David Carradine guest stars, not a week after his bizarre death.]

Rescue Me | 10pm on FX
“Control”
Tommy and Mike must put aside their differences when a roadblock puts a halt to a routine call; Sheila uses her leverage to control Tommy’s drinking; Lou refuses to give in to the allure of an old flame [GMMR: I have no idea why I’m not watching this season.  I think the first few episodes got away from me and it’s been hard to find the time to get caught up.  I heard it’s a great season too.  Bummer.]

The Real Housewives of New Jersey | 10pm on Bravo
“Casinos and C-Cups”
Dina, Caroline and Teresa shop and gamble in Atlantic City, N.J.; Teresa considers plastic surgery to please her husband; Danielle breaks up with her boyfriend and feuds with Jacqueline at a birthday lunch. [GMMR: I just got caught up on the show this weekend. Danielle is off her rocker?! I’m kind of loving Jacqueline. Caroline is a hard ass but her kids are funny. Dina is bitch. Theresa is delusional but kind of fun. Are you watching?]

Also playing….

  • Jimmy Kimmel Live | 8pm on ABC: Game Night Special – Jimmy goes live in the 8pm hour with a mixture of celebrities and sports stars leading up to the NBC Finals.
  • Happy Days 20th Anniversary | 9pm on Biography: The cast of Happy Days shares personal memories of the show.
  • 18 Kids & Counting | 9pm on Bravo:  Jana and Jill are nervous about having to go under the knife to have wisdom teeth removed, but their parents will be with them for reassurance.

Zack Morris Visits Jimmy Fallon

June 9, 2009 by
Filed under #1 featured, Jimmy Fallon

Zack Morris was cool, but Mark-Paul Gosselaar may be just a bit cooler. Last night the star of RAISING THE BAR was a guest of LATE NIGHT WITH JIMMY FALLON…kind of. Mark Paul conducted the entire interview in character as his SAVED BY THE BELL alter ego, Zack Morris. Brilliant! And as you’ll see in the clip below, the guy still looks like Zack 22 years after first starting the role. (Yes, 22 years for Mark-Paul. SAVED BY THE BELL might be 20 years old, but let’s not forget that Zack Morris first came on to the screen in GOOD MORNING MISS BLISS.)

Zack, um I mean, Mark, agreed to appear in Jimmy Fallon’s SAVED BY THE BELL Reunion. And he brought word that Jesse Spano (Elizabeth Berkley) is in too! She’s so excited…so excited…she’s about to lose control and she just can’t hide it! Mark Zack and his band, Zack Attack, treated the audience to a performance of their big hit, “Friends Forever”.

With Zack, Slater, Jesse, Lisa Turtle and Mr. Belding in, that leaves Kelly Kapowski (Tiffani Theisen) and Samuel “Screech” Power (Dustin Diamond) as the only two cast members yet to agree to the reunion. And if you believe the press, it’s actually Dustin that’s the hold out. What?! The guy boxes women and puts out a sex tape in order to stay in the public eye, but he won’t do a reunion of Jimmy Fallon?! Oh, he’ll do it.

SAVED BY THE BELL was a big part of my early love for TV, and I can’t wait to see the reunion.  Make it happen, Jimmy!

A Little TV Blog Lull

Hey guys –
A quick note from me to you. Just wanted to say thanks for your patience as of late. I know GiveMeMyRemote.com hasn’t been updating as much as usual, and things have been a little slow. I’m completely to blame. I could throw a million excuses at you, but I’ll just say that I’ve been really busy and I’ll leave it at that.

June is going to be a little rocky. I’m going to try to blog as much as I can, and I know that Team GMMR will be helping out too, but I’m moving at the end of the month and since this is all happening so fast, TV watching and blogging may take a hit. I’ll try my very best to keep up with TV news as best I can…maybe you won’t even notice. But if you do, please know that although it might be a little slow this month we’re going to be coming back strong soon. The Fall pilots are already piling up and we’re going to have a lot to talk about.

It’s been a crazy couple of months here at GMMR (and I mean crazy in the best possible way). We’ve had a record number of people visiting the site and we couldn’t be happier to have new friends to talk TV with. Hopefully you’ll all stick around with us during this little lull.

Oh and once this bizarre month is over, Dan and I will be back to podcasting. It’s been WAY too long since our last TV Talk Podcast with GMMR & Ducky. We miss it so much!

So thanks for sticking with us, and thanks for making GMMR so much fun for everyone involved!

– Kath

P.S. No matter how busy I may get I will ALWAYS make time for SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE. No worries there!

Neil Patrick Harris Closes the Tonys with a Song

June 8, 2009 by
Filed under Neil Patrick Harris, TV Awards

If you watched the Tonys last night on CBS then you no doubt had a wonderful time experiencing glimpses of a night out on a theater.  It was a wonderful night of music and dance, despite CBS’ efforts to kill the show with horribly bad production.  Honestly whomever was running the show was hopefully fired immediately because it was a complete disaster from the technical issues to the camera work.  Just horrible.

But despite having a Ph.D. in horribleness, you know what was anything but? Neil Patrick Harris.  Neil was a perfect host, charged with moving the show along and popping in with funny little bits. He was fantastic.  But the best NPH moment of the night came as the credits were rolling. NPH gave us a little Tonys recap via song.

So happy he got to sing.  Fabulous!

Happy Monday! I hope you all had a great weekend!  I’m a little sunburned, but I guess that means I had a great time poolside, right?

Tonight feels like the kick off to summer TV. Some of the reality shows got a head start, but tonight scripted programming is back in a big way on the cable networks.  If you’ve never seen these shows, give them a shot tonight.  Maybe you’ll have a new favorite.

Here’s some of the shows worth talking about tonight…and there’s a lot.

Greek | 8pm on ABC Family
“Tailgate Expectations”
Rusty and Ashleigh work to ensure a victory in the Homecoming Week float competition; Evan may lose his trust fund following a conversation with his father. [GMMR: The second to last episode. I hope some of you took my advice and watched GREEK this season.  If not you’re missing out!]

The Closer | 9pm on TNT | Season Premiere
“Products of Discovery”
Season 5 opens with Brenda and her squad digging for clues into the murder of a family of four, but the case changes course when Brenda unwittingly tumbles into an FBI investigation. Elsewhere, Provenza’s usually zesty mood suddenly turns downcast.

Jon & Kate Plus 8 | 9pm on TLC
“BAM! 100th Episode”
Chef Emeril Lagasse visits the Gosselin home to give the entire family cooking lessons in celebration of their show’s 100th episode; the children create a meal. [GMMR:Have you guys ever heard of this show?  It’s about two loving parents and their 8 kids.  It’s really flown under the radar despite its 100 episodes.]

Raising the Bar | 10pm on TNT | Season Premiere
“Hair Apparent”
Season 2 begins with Jerry advocating for a barber accused of permitting a relative to sell drugs out of his barbershop. Meanwhile, Roz begins working on cases again; Bobbi’s divorce case lifts off; and Jerry celebrates his birthday. [GMMR: Zack Morris but his hair. If he had done that last year I might have watched. Oh well.]

My Life on the D List | 10pm on Bravo
“Place Your Bette”
Kathy hopes a little bribery will earn her comedy album a Grammy nomination; entertainer Bette Midler offers Kathy a cameo in her lavish Las Vegas stage show. [GMMR: So glad this bitch it back!]

Weeds | 10pm on Showtime | Season Premiere
“Wonderful Wonderful”
Nancy shows Esteban proof of her baby, but is unsure of her fate; Celia is held hostage in Mexico; Andy, Silas and Doug discuss growing plans.

Nurse Jackie | 10:30pm on Showtime | Series Premiere
“Pilot”
A veteran nurse bends the rules to create something good from a patient’s death, while hiding an addiction to pain killers. [GMMR: I’m a few episodes into this show and I am loving it. If you have Showtime you don’t want to miss NURSE JACKIE.  If you want to check out the first episode, I’ve posted it to GMMR for your viewing pleasure: “Early Screening – Watch NURSE JACKIE right now“]

PUSHING DAISIES: “Water & Power” Tonight at 10pm

June 6, 2009 by
Filed under #1 featured, Pushing Daisies

Tonight the second to last episode of PUSHING DAISIES airs on ABC. I’ve said my goodbyes but I’m still not emotionally ready for next week’s series finale. Are you?

Here’s a sneak peek at tonight’s episode! Enjoy!  And let me know what you think after you’ve watched the episode.

——-

ThePieMaker.com continues it’s sneak peek at the final 3 episode of PUSHING DAISIES with our semi-spoilery, screencap beauty of a post about episode 2.12.

“Water & Power” starts with a look back at Young Emerson Cod who had above average intelligence and a love for rules and regulations until one day mischief took over, proving “love makes you stupid.”

It’s hard to write about this episode because it’s steeped in Cod mystery, back story and intrigue – and we don’t want to spoil you on everything! Without giving too much away…

Simone, her clicker and her dog Bubblegum return as does someone that may or may not know the whereabouts of Emerson’s real life Little Gumshoe.

What else can we tell you?

While investigating the murder of Roland Raleigh Stingwell, Billionaire Builder of the Papen Country Water Pipe System and nemesis of Emerson Cod, more than one ghost comes back as more than one PUSHING DAISIES mystery is solved.

If you’re wondering about those folks back at The Pie Hole, don’t you worry! Even though this episode revolves mostly around Emerson’s past, present and future it also picks right up where “Window Dressed to Kill” left off.

Randy Mann continues to pursue his crush on Olive but a sticky swamp of emotions complicates things for the possible love birds. Ned and Chuck decide to help them along but Olive confuses Ned’s advice and decides Randy Mann is Randy Rebound which sends Ned on a mission to once again interfere with Olive’s love life and un-mix her nuts signals.

Oh and we almost forgot…

Two Words: Gina Torres
*geeks out*

While “Water and Power” isn’t the best episode of the series, it’s one that is essential to PUSHING DAISIES as a whole. Character backstory plays a huge role in the episode because as one pop-up book opens, another closes as we steam toward the series end.
